Is anyone else getting clicks and pops on stuff imported from audiopaste? Ran this on a bass track of mine from Figure and they're all over the place.

Seems there is no problem reported going through audiobus. Maybe this is an issue with their loop player?

  • Got it for the intro price but Portrait only is aggravating. Wish Apple would step in and reject iPad apps that don't support landscape. Use it with Audiobus and it's wonderful fast switching, waste time and focus rotating. If an external interface or speakers are connected it is even more thought destroying.

  • I think the individual effects sound better than LiveFX at this point. While you can indeed modulate and move the shit out of the different available effect parameters, there aren't actually that many available parameters for any given effect type (4 each). Plenty for munging up and experimenting but not enough to dial in the perfect reverb, for instance.

It reminds me of the simpler digitech effect racks vs something like an alesis quadraverb. Digitech boxes have great midi and modulation options but limit the total number of params available on each effect.

Not at all a complaint. The app is incredible.

@JMSexton Cheers. Forgot about figure! I did have a good time with Loopseque. Can take a minute to get your own samples in and tuned but once you do it is an awfully rich/deep app.

  • is there a (simple) way to automate parameters like in LiveFX?

And i would highly appreciate if somebody could say a word about my (Midi remote)question above ;-) Thanks in advance!

  • Nice for Beatmaker user but sadly i don't use it anymore (Cubasis and Auria here).I mean plugin internal. Thanks for the video anyway.I'll go and read the manual now...

@crabman, technically it is totally possible to use a second iOS device entirely as a wireless MIDI controller for your main sound device. I use MIDIDesigner Pro on a second iPad this way all the time. It works really well. Dan is the developer, and he's one of those guys who is very committed to his app, constantly improving and interacting with his users.

It seems like a lot depends on your wifi network and how well the MIDI app does at maintaining its MIDI connection to the "network session" via wifi. I haven't tried TB MIDI stuff or Lemur.

It seems like with Audiobus enabling so much going on in one iPad, there is definitely a lot to gain from having another iPad just for MIDI control messages. Good job sugar bytes for seeing the importance of full access via MIDI learn for CC.

@Crabman - sorry, I know what you meant, but wanted to share that for everyone, should have been more specific

  • No worries,at least it made me think to play a little with beatmaker again :) @HTMX:thanks for your infos.I'm not absolutely sure but i guess i'll make the purchase very soon :) Quite powerful with CC control for sure.

    .

  • @crabman, NO don't buy MIDI designer pro!!

Get the free lite version and test it out. It's fully functional, just limited to making 12 controls. That way you can get a feel for how it works before dropping almost $20. It's called MIDIDesigner Lite. It takes a while to design stuff, but people say its easier than Lemur... And less than half the price. :-).

And if anyone wants me to design a Turnado control page in MIDI Designer, I'll do it this weekend for the price of... one Turnado app code, LOL. It sounds awesome, I'm just low on App Store funds so I haven't made the purchase.

@Simon:yes they are quite cheap but i started to follow strict rules with new purchases.I'm already sitting on a shitload of apps that i never use so i have to take care. And 5 Bucks here,10 bucks there can sum up very quickly ;-) I already own LiveFX and i like it....but i don't use it much cause i simply don't use the effect slot often. Not often enough. So much switching forth and back breaks my workflow to much. And with portrait mode only...Therefore i would prefer to have Turnado as a plug in auria,as mentioned before.

edit:@HTmx:ah,i remember.I already tried Midi designer but didn't liked the visuals of the controls and i NEVER got my head arround how to use all cntrols on one screen. They where always doubled (splitted into a left an right side).I would try it with TB Midi stuff,it's great and full featured as well. And much cheaper :)

  • Yep, I know what you mean about the visuals on MIDIDesigner. They've had a few updates though, now you can change color schemes and get rid of the page split

  • btw,+1 for making a landscape mode with just having the XY controls on a seperate page and thats it.Shouldn't be THAT hard to change.

  • @crabman - Network also available on your iThingies. Look for Network Session n in your list of ports, on both machines (Out on TB Midi Stuff and In on the ither machine). Start TB first. You will need a separate router, since Apple does not let us use the iThing in that mode. Ideally use your laptop or some other router not involved in your normal Internet access to do an ad-hoc network, else you'll have poor latency issues. As to TB Midi Stuff, it is pretty lightweight so can also run on your iPhone for playtime experimentation purposes.

I think I might experiment a bit with that setup here; currently use my Mac as the router so it might be doing more to make Netwrok MIDI work than merely routing. Back later.

wait, you're saying i need a SECOND router or a mac with an active ad-hoc network to get it running??Meh...Yes,i'm using a mac at my place but that's currently not the place were i'm doing most of my music. It's more at my girlfriends place,at work or at a friends place were we celebrate looooong sit-ins every second weekend :) i thought(hoped) i could do it just over WI-FI then. But thanks for the info!

  • @cranman, midi bridge may have your back. Works on any old wifi network.

  • I couldn't resist, and I don't regret :)
This is one of the best apps for modern effects for sure!

+1 for the Landscape mode. It's obvious.

  • There are so many diff effects with so many diff presets for each it seems endless

  • Turnado definitely needs some UI tweaking. The general layout is good (other than no landscape support of course) but some of the controls (especially the top area) are ridiculously tiny for a touchscreen.

Absolutely mindblowing app tho, regardless. And Alchemy + Turnado via AB = Brain-melting explosion. Sound morphing nirvana.

  • @Morwynd I'm sure you've already discovered you can zoom in on the top area, right?

  • btw, thats the official Thread and the developer is quite responsive. You should post your Landscape wishes over there,i already did :)

  • @boone51 certainly, but the zoom is clearly a stopgap solution allowing them to directly port the mouse-centric PC interface over without retooling it for touchscreen. Perfectly fine for a 1.0 release but I hope they have plans to make some of the tiny top controls more touch friendly.

  • Right on. Makes sense. I figured you had to have found that since I zoom in about twelve times accidentally every time I touch it.

  • what an idiot i am...i was refering about the developers thread without posting the link, lol. http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=108

  • @Crabman I looked back through like where's the link at...but wasn't gonna say anything.

@Boone51 I accidentally zoomed one to many times and just turned it off in the settings, so if you don't use the zoom just turn the annoyance off

  • I've got an email from the Sugar Bytes crew and they are on top of the audiopaste issue!

Suspended my aversion to portrait mode, loaded up a simple kick and snare loop in DM1, Turnado in effects and Oh My! This is slick. Never had a hiccup let alone a crash. Even with 8 effects running including the vocoder type stuff on an iPad 3. Those synth type Beardyman presets are particularly eye, ear?, opening about what can be created with a well done rack of effects.

  • There's no eye opener like a good rack...
