Thanks, free is always good
Thanks!
Sounds good. Every time I play with this app I think I need to buy the audio import but I never do. Lol
@gmslayton FWIW I think the audio import is a good purchase. In line with another discussion about randomness elsewhere Novation feels to me like cheating (sometimes), the arrangement of another man's family and then photographing the result
, but the audio import, esp. with the development in the effects, has led me to very odd (and, yes, in some ways random) results with my own patches/samples. Can be a bit frustrating; some work well, others not so much, but can make excellent sausage.
@JohnnyGoodyear After this week I think I am going to buy it.
I sort of felt like that for a bit...
Then I thought DJ's spinning tunes other people had written and making something unique in the performance...
Then I thought sample packs and producers building unique tracks out of component parts that other people had crafted...
Then I thought, what the hell, this Launchpad shit is just fun, why am I getting all Plato and Socrates about it when I could be jamming with the new Stopper FX and the Psy Trance soundpack
Referee will say it is restaurent made, not homemade! Crowding out!
I was more excited about audio import when I thought it enabled launchpad in Audiobus output.
Anyway, where's the free pack?
Welcome to my restaurant Captain....
I agree with you entirely, it was just too good a chance to wear the 'moral and sensitive' pants for a moment there. Very soft on my chapped soul etc.
You will find the free pack under "Store" in the Launchpad app, @Hmtx.
The import your own comes up here every couple of months. I am a strong proponent of it. I finally caved after trying LP-5, Protein der Klang, and electrify next. I just wanted to do something with my Launchpad S.
@monzo and I took over a thread about it here (that somehow turned into a Gadget thread)

Soon There Will Be A Golden Sky indeed. Good stuff that.
BvsMV were you able to use your launchpad s with protein der klang and if so how did you get on?
Just got a Launchpad Pro and I was kind of disappointed the fader mode didn't work with it however. The "launch screen" works great however. I love having tactile buttons for the effects though!
contemplating on picking the lp pro up tonight, at $299, was it worth it for you?
can't find many videos on the launchpad pro
I wish there was a launchpad pro mini!
is it larger or smaller than your launchpad s ?
Just had an enjoyable 30 min jam with the free soundpack! Wish I had recorded it now!
@ kobamoto It's sweet. It's much heavier than the S, but it makes sense why with the better pads, lights, and midi in/out. You need to use external power to use it with your iPad or iPhone which is kind of a bummer, but not a deal breaker. I was using it with Animoog in note mode and the fact that it does Polyaftertouch is awesome. I just got it Saturday and have a three year old and three week old so I haven't played too much.
Unfortunately it never was updated with midi afaik.
hey man thanks for the info, I decided to hold off for a day or two for more research... one last question, does it have as many scale/chord templates as the ableton push, or does it allow you to make your own and if so how many?
Once again: where is this free pack? I go to the LP store and nothing jumps out at me... shouldn't it?!? What's the name of it? Why are some iOS things so goddamned difficult? Sorry, but why is such seemingly simple thing do so f-ing hard to take advantage of? And BTW, someone tell me how to to use iTunes on a PC while we're at it, or point me to the DEFINITIVE instruction manual because THAT is more BS than I have patience for.
well Mr. Brain, that's like asking where is the ability to record your performance within the app, or where are the follow actions?
@brain I actually found three free packs, Formant Cell, Glitch Hop and Essential EDM.
Had this app and deleted it before, will give it another go. Been fooling around with imaschine a bit lately and this seems like it might be better. Have to say I'm still a bit unsure about these remix apps that are basically pre-made songs, will have to see if I can squeeze any originality out of it.
@Brain the latest free pack is Formant Cell.
Go to Home > News and then you should seenFormant Cell mentioned in a story.
Touch that and look for Formant cell Gracefall in the list of packs.
.
@kobamoto If your interested in some Push-like scripting for the Launchpad Mini, you might check out the LPC-Live 2 by nativeKONTROL: http://www.nativekontrol.com/LPC-Live_2.html
Works on all three older LP models.
I'm always tempted by the sample import option as messing with built in sounds never lasts long. Then I think of how much work it would be to get the samples in tune and tempo with each other and I forget about the whole thing. With samplr these things are easily accomplished but of course 6 loops is no match to launchpad.
thanks P I'm familiar with those things but I'm interested in the pro because it's got those hardware midi ports on the back of it
Nice, got the other two free packs.

I agree with Supadom's comment. You don't really realize how much work goes into these until you try it. These packs are tuned perfectly and sound great no matter how you mix the loops. Quality stuff here, even if it is "cheating".
