My favorite thing to do on the iPad is grab a beer and step sequence drum patterns. So my most used are Diode-108, Attack, and Different Drummer. I've just started using Elastic Drums.
@monzo standing next to @JohnnyGoodyear it's the size of the noodle? This thread is turning into a rope!
It varies. It always varies. So many new tools, so many new ways of sparking melodic/rhythmic inspiration. There's a reason most of us are confessed appaholics.
There are a few "old reliables" in my stable ... JamUp Pro, Audiobus, Audioshare, Gadget, Auria. But mostly those are tools for getting the job done after the idea's jailbreak. Was it a nail-file? Hiding in the delivery truck? Explosives? A riot?
Good question, but for me, it just varies. I've gotten a lot of mileage out of Gadget, but I could say the same for my guitar, Alchemy, Addictive, Oscilab, Tin Pan Rhythm, etc.
Agreed.
As for Tin Pan Rhythm (of which I'm very much in favor) a small animal of the flighted variation has apparently confirmed that saving is done and almost ready to leave the nest etc. This is exceptionally good news. Will it solve my problem with SOTMC with only a few short and pitiless days left? NO. Prolly not.....
Think I'll miss another SOTM deadline again. Despite having a bit more time this month, I've jut had too many new things - the irig purchase meant I could do a track with guitar and vocals but then along came Diode, Patterning, and an Elastic Drums update to muck about with. And now I'm busy trying to work out how to update my Mac so I can download the latest version of Logic.
Distractions, distractions.
However with a bit of Patterning noodling last night I created some very weird droney/ambient sequences, so I can predict some 'noise' tracks coming soon, with iDensity and live guitar overdubs....if nothing else comes out in the meantime...
Herein lies the appaholic dilemma; starving because of all this food I have had other issues this month also, but it's still true that if I added up the time/hours spent on new apps, a bit of beta-testing, getting a new keyboard, time spent ligging around the forum etc and put it all together then perhaps a little flower might have better bloomed etc.
Yes, I spent two nights noodling around in Beathawk (new app acquisition syndrome) and produced nothing but garbage. Back to Gadget to make music next.
I'm stationed in a B&B in Criccieth tonight - if I can resist the lure of the hotel bar downstairs I'll be creating drones and bleeps for the thing, though as I'm already ensconced with a beer on the beach productivity is fast receeding....
Think that's exactly what you wanted to hear. And fair enough.
For sure, keep the quality up. With respect for keeping the quality up for those that want it, 16 bit could be optional for those who want to compromise between quality and space (though, with good dithering and loving care I doubt it would be much of a compromise)
I really like the "let me download what I need and erase what I don't" model. Even with 128G models, drives fill up—especially for those who do a lot of multitrack audio. Maybe you could try something like this (or some combination along these lines): whatever you think is your 'money' sound is comes with the app in 24bit. The rest come as 16bit with the option to either remove them, keep them or up them to 24bit via download.
Just thoughts. Totally on board with the 'best of breed' comments about NeoSoul keys.
I still pretty much only get things completed in NanoStudio.
Or recording bits into Loopy and then stretching them out and overdubbing in Auria.
Everything else is noodle city for me.
I believe I see you down there.....get back to work!
Yes - I'm in the hotel, roughly in the middle of that photo! It's a 'family' room, so I'll try and create my ambient mush without bothering Mrs Monzo & Monzo Jnr
I generally group apps by how much my history usage dictates - GB & AB up front, AudioShare, a few synth/guitar apps, a couple of riffers for a total of 12. I will DL a deleted app once in a while to play around with again, but the second the iPhone tells me storage is getting sketchy, they're gone.
