@mixolyd Some nice bits in there Mister. I was initially thinking, you know, The Damned, but soon got over that. The internal sound here could stretch it to 'The Village of the Damned' I guess in that creepy way Interested to see what you do with Fugue next/with external sounds etc.
Congrats of Fugue Machine. It´s lovely.
My first thought was too, different heads on different channels.
But then i set that up via Midiflow and the workflow is not good: Different Apps on 1 ipad are not easy to control. You would want to change a parameter on this synth then another on a different synth. Then change to Fugue Machine and change something there.
It is elegant as it is now, playing 1 Synth. So good job there.
It would make more sense for external Synths on which you have all the parameters at your disposal, including a mixer.
Maybe you have 4 synths on 1 midi channel in a chain setup. That would introduce some delay, so a setting for delaying the heads in milliseconds would be good to have.
But what i would like much more to see is the ability to change key and scale directly, like in Arpegiognome.
But either way, simplicity and elegance is what this app stands for. It is already great as it is now.
Thanks for that.
FM into scalegen: is the change of scale according to the readout of the actual designation, -> for example 'major' from FM to 'minor' in scalegen - for further midi out?
@JohnnyGoodyear Thanks for the encouragement: I'll put in an extra little iota of effort just for you . I thought someone might think of "The Damned", but hey...I look forward to the day someone does produce something that sound like that in Fugue Machine!
Just got multitrackstudio working, now need to find a good synth app. I have Alchemy from years back so perhaps it will suffice...
Alchemy will most certainly provide you with bliss and confusion both; just a matter of getting the proportions in your favor
Hi @Alexandernaut I'm guessing you're a very busy man right now (congrats).
I have a request I'd like to add to your list, if I may.
I prefer to have the Note label visible while editing, but it's hard for me to read with such a small and faint font. Would it be possible to have an additional setting that would display a different colour for each interval? Or at least an option for a bolder font.
Also, more complicated than it probably seems, could we have the option to display the steps as intervals rather than note names?
My mind jitters when seeing G# and A# in a C minor scale. Being able to read b6 and b7 would speed me up no end.
Congrats again. It's been a while since I've opened a new app so frequently in such a short space of time.
Thanks.
Precisely.
@dreamrobe Yeah been able to change scale on the main interface would be great. Or make them midi assignable so you could change scale on the fly with a knob, bit more precise.
Can't wait for the midi out per channel.
I sense intergalactic indigestion!
Here's another 4-part fugue using Fugue Machine. Recorded MIDI from Fugue Machine into Cubasis. Then I used the MIDI track to record 4-separate synth sounds from SynthMaster and iM1. I then used automation in Cubasis to bring up and down the mix of each track.
Very nice!
Thanks Andy. I can't wait for Fugue Machine to have independent MIDI channels out for each of the 4-tracks.
Thanks @Alexandernaut for such a great musical tool!
@bsantoro Nicely played Sir.
Thanks Johnny.
@u0421793 For the fun of it, throw a lot of reverb and delay on your intergalactic indigestion. It might sound more convincing!
nice !
sweet man! That is lovely. i had no luck recording midi into cubasis, only audio. How did you get it to record midi? i am able to do it with other sequencers but for some reason with Fugue Machine it just comes up blank.
@AudioGus, regarding: i had no luck recording midi into cubasis, only audio. How did you get it to record midi? i am able to do it with other sequencers but for some reason with Fugue Machine it just comes up blank.
Launch both programs. In Fugue Settings/MIDI Output Settings, set MIDI To: Cubasis. In Cubasis, create empty MIDI track with built-in piano instrument so you can hear it. Under Routing/MIDI Input, choose "Fugue Machine MIDI Out". Receive MIDI Clock in Fugue Machine doesn't work for me; so I made sure that both apps are set to the same tempo. I start Cubasis to record; bounce over to Fugue Machine and hit play. Optionally, play with turning tracks on-and-off, and adjusting other parameters, and/or move the slider on the right to change up or down the scale. Bounce back to Cubasis, trim the start and end points, and slide the track to align with the beat. You can now drive IAA synths from the recorded MIDI track. I hope this isn't too confusing?

Thanks for this. I have been winging it (as ever , but even I can see the value of having the midi notes for further editing/mixing etc.
Nice enough and such a clean desk.
Will listen tomorrow but what cable is that connecting the Blofeld?
Hmmm, I tried it again and no luck. midi sync from cubasis does work for me in Fugue Machine though. Odd, I just cant send notes to cubasis even if i dont try to sync.
What device and OS are you using?
I got midi to work into Cubasis. For me (iPad3, iOS9) the trick was to set the output in Fugue to "Cubasis" but in Cubasis, to set track midi input to "All MIDI Ports" (not "Fugue Machine"). Also, it seemed to help to have the input track set to "No Instrument". Cheers.
For the record, I found this to be the way it worked for me (Air 1/latest). Although I did have the Cubasis piano selected.
This is the best freakin' iOS music app since Gadget, no joke.
The “Fugue and the horse you rode in on” composition? This is the write-up:
This track is a composition using Fugue Machine, with the four playhead tracks set to —
cyan: -8octave/+0pitch;
pink: +7octave/+5pitch;
mustard: +7octave/+7pitch;
apple: -7octave:+5pitch.
This is in Fsharp.
The sequence drives Sunrizer synth, using the iTar1 patch.
This goes into Dubfilter’s Sample And Drum patch, via Audiobus, and recorded into AudioShare.
Hey there. Thursday could work as could Wednesday...just let me know.
Caved in. First impressions/suggestions:
superb idea!
great page layout
a bit dark for my taste, could do with more contrast or at least the inactive options could be more visible
having start and stop buttons is wasteful. could just have play that lights up when active and use gained space for the future midi out channel selector? Or when playing the internal synth it could have a selector for 4 basic waveforms on each playhead?
Couldn't get it to respond to Loopy's start/stop messages. Not sure why, has anyone been successful with it?
Overall very happy with the app though, thanks developer!
@bsantoro @aaronpc > @JohnnyGoodyear
Cool thanks for the help guys! I now have midi note recording working as well. As for midi sync I found that you still need to hit play in Fuge Machine (even if it doesn't play, it will when you hit play in cubasis). Here are my screenshot notes...
