Will this $4.99 version of sample tank unlock all instruments?
If you add $19.99... Yes
Hmm ... I thought iElectribe was also on sale to celebrate the phone version release? I only say this because I've been teetering on picking it up and would prefer to use your link, Doug.
From a previous conversation with Doug, I understood that once you get to the app store by clicking on any app link at TSTR site, Doug gets the credit for any purchase you make including a different app
@AndyX Groovy. Thank you for the tip!
Yeah that's right, whole you are on the App Store from our link anything you pick up will use our affiliate, I think
Lotsa folks around here have been waiting for a "Bias FX" on sale, first time as far as I know along side some of their other apps.
Not sure if it is a sale or a price reduction on Bias FX
Not sure if it is a sale or a price reduction on Bias FX
A price reduction is the definition of a sale in my estimation, but are you suggesting that this is a permanent drop in the cost of Bias FX and if so, what makes you think they have permanently reduced the price? because if that is the case I will wait again until it goes on sale from the new price I am in no hurry to make this purchase.
PS I am almost having difficulty understanding myself at this point so it is likely I am not making a lot of sense, if so just ignore me.
I may be wrong, but the App Store usually make them put it in the description if it is time limited I believe...may be wrong. The other reason was on a website which I now can't find, it said sale prices on their other items, but just the price change on Bias FX. If I can find it again I will post a link....or I may be crazy as its 05 in the morning here lol
If anyone here has both Bias FX and Flux, can you speak to the strengths of both?
I could also use a simple yes/no on Bias FX being a necessary-to-own improvement of quality over the ToneStack effects.
My personal feeling is that overall Tonestack is better for the kind of sounds I like to use. Tonestack generally has better modulation effects, and BIAS FX generally has better distortions IMO.
Having said that I use both, and have no regrets about buying either.
As for Flux, I don't use it much, too chaotic for my tastes, too difficult to get a usable sound from it.
A few new additions today including an interesting looking Audio Recording Course called Elite and 76 Synthesizer, BIAS FX and more

I've heard a few say the distortions are better - does it come with some good distortion FX included, or would I need to buy an IAP?
Interested in this one as I'm now using my guitar with the iPad, and Flo was getting some wicked Dave Gilmour leads out if BIAS...
It comes with a few distortions included.
thank you for the tonestack/bias fx discussion. I have tonestack and do like it for feeding my hardware keyboard through, but have been tempted by bias. (as well as the tonestack motherload iap). Although I think I'm fine as is.
I really don't think a single second that Bias FX has something to do with Flo's sound... or more precisely, I'm almost sure that Flo can obtain VERY CLOSE sound out of Bias FX or ToneStack or Ampkit+ or Amp One or any other guitar oriented app... What makes Flo's sound is elsewhere.
Compared to, say ToneStack, I really find Bias FX to be over priced... even on sale (with all the IAPs)...
Gumdrops just went down $0.99, don't know how long for

Flo did a couple of demos on here for me (since removed) to show how TS and BIAS handled distortion/overdrive, by playing similar Floyd leads. To me, the TS version - while having a good tone - lacked the dynamics, movement and expression you could hear in the BIAS version. I paid attention to all his tracks after that, noticing the same thing each time.
There are a lot of things you can do when playing the guitar to add dynamics to your playing, and BIAS seemed to pick these up better.
That's not to knock TS - from what I've heard it handles other things, such as modulation better than BIAS, but distortion isn't one if it's strengths.
Obviously most of a good guitar break comes from the playing, but good amps and FX can lift a piece to another level entirely.
It's much more to do with technique and playing style.
I prefer TS, but Bias / Bias FX (though very much overpriced) are not far behind.
Digital Distorsions are rarely sounding good or... at least they sound very different from what we can get from analog gears or real amp and, to my ears analog/real amp > digital. So, even if Bias (FX or Amp) sounds way more than good enough to record ideas on the iPad, I would definitely use a real amp or more traditional effects (I'm a long time user of the SansAmp which I like the sound) if I'd have to record something "seriously".
In fact, IMHO what makes the essential differences between every guitar apps we have on iOS is the UI, how they integrate with other apps and how we "feel" using them... and, of course, as we are all geeks we are very eager to tweak and play always more apps (toys)... and Bias FX, if very tempting, at it's price level (with the IAPs) doesn't "give" enough.
I think I'd have to spend significantly more than £14.99 to have the range of amps, cabs and effects in hardware form, that I would in BIAS, or even Tonestack so I'm happy to out up with the comparative lack of quality
£14.99... Tell me you'll resist to add some IAPs and i'll try to beleive you
However, I can understand what you say 'cause even with quite good hardware right next to me, I nearly always choose the "lack of quality" : I play A LOT MORE with my iPad, have a lot of fun using all my music apps... and have even tough selling most of my gears that now take the dust
Just Updated, not much to add or takeaway today except Bossjock just went back on sale

iOS music will rarely compete on quality against hardware - I played a new MiniMoog recently, and the richness and depth of the sound was about as far away from an iOS synth as my old Ford diesel estate is from a top end Ferrari. Mind blowing sounds. At the same session I played my bass through a very large Marshall amp/cab stack, and again it made Tonestack sound silly in comparison.
Thing is, even though I've got an Orange Bass combo and Marshall combo here, I can't suddenly whip out the other 20 amps and 50 cabs or whatever you get with Tonestack, and even if I could it'd take me ages to go through all the combinations - plugging and unplugging leads - instead of moving a few icons about as I can on the iPad.
iOS isn't a replacement, it's just a different thing, but if BIAS can improve the quality of Tonestack regards distortions then it add a bit more juice to my iPad guitar fantasies.
Out of interest @Monzo, what kind of overdriven sounds are you looking for ?
It becomes pretty subjective as to what a great guitar sound can be - be it a lead sound, crunchy, heavily distorted etc.
With some experimentation I find, you come across a combination of amps / cabs / mics / Eqs (iOS emulations) to geta 'sound' you're after. Did you ever check out those ToneStack presets I posted ? I have to say, they are pretty good as anything I've heard on iOS and they were created from experimenting, really.
Thanks, no I haven't tried them yet but I'll give them a go!
I just found the BIAS distortions a bit fuller, smoother and richer sounding than the Tonestack versions - though I'm only basing this on what I've seen and heard online. The Tonestack distortion pedals are ok, just a bit thin sounding and harsh....maybe a setup like you've suggested though will beef them up a bit.
A few bits and pieces added today most notably is iGrand back down to $4.99

Hi guys, having Korg Module is worth to buy iGand?
By the way I recommend Capo touch, for me is very useful and if you didn't know, it detects bpm too
