Fredrik just made a little teaser with the new MIDI feature routed to NLog and Thor:
Sick.
Nice. Thanks for the video.
UGH! I read too fast and thought that Auxy had been updated with MIDI out and that I had missed it.
so what is the update?
@kobamoto said:
It sounds like Auxy is getting MIDI out so that users can use its ass-kicking pattern launcher and piano roll editor to sequence other apps, etc.
I knew they were beta testing the MIDI feature; so hearing this is very encouraging that it will be "soon." @lenberg -- any more details...a timeline?
Agree, this is sick! (That means good, right?). Thor, and Nlog via Auxy -- oh yes!
From your lips etc.
We have submitted the beta with MIDI features to Apple so going out to testers as soon as it's approved. (They review betas when you use the new Testflight...)
I've just updated Auxy but don't manage to send MIDI to other apps. Is there a midi menu I've missed? Can't find a send option either except after recording but no midi.
I've updated earlier today too, In the notes it says the MIDI out is an IAP but the store option is greyed out for me so I can't select it....
Yes, I'm on the same boat...iOS 7.1.2
By the way, is it just me or with the new forum layout the "search" function doesn' t work properly?
What exactly isn't working with it for you?
Hi Sebastian. Send you a PM, thanks.
But I can advance I was wrong.
Same for Auxy in 7.1.2, no store option
Yep same here on iOS 8, store grey, and on the App Store, no details for IAP's for Auxy.
I heard back from the developer and they're working on getting the store content approved and up.
is the midi out IaP being received well or is it finding the same reception animoog found when charging for the same thing?
I'm not sure, but this is a free app asking for a paid "pro" feature, not a $30 pro app asking for another $5.
Yup.
I am happy to pay for the extra features, just being impatient!
thats true but there are a ton of features in animoog, if there were as many features in auxy I wouldn't bat an eye at a paying for a feature to pull it all together
Auxy update, no midi today again? There's a movie with Bill Murray...
Ground Hog Day.......
There's midi and triplets and higher resolution IAPs available now
Ok. There it is. Cheers
IAP-wise, any reports/thoughts?
I bought the midi one. Not exactly cheap at £5.99.
However, I found my track (noodle really) that I made when first bought Auxy. And it was pretty straight forward to MIDI-out record each part, one by one, into Gadget. (No midisync so I had to hit play at the right time and tidy the midi in Gadget).
So therefore I could use Auxy as a nice sketch pad to start parts of a track off. And anything I liked I could move the midi to a more 'serious' environment. Who knows if I'll ever do this again.
Haven't tried driving a mixture of external synths. But thats an obvious use.
Also haven't tried midi in or exporting a midi file.
Each track has one 'Mod' dial when in midi mode. It sends on cc 1. There's sadly no way I can see to automate this dial though. So only semi useful.
In conclusion. ProMidi is more fully featured and has great cc automation possibilities.
But Auxy is much nicer/easier to use and it's nice to have internal instruments to sketch with and then start to send out external midi if/when you decide you actually like what you've come up with.
I'm itching to buy this because I wanted it so much when I first downloaded Auxy and I think Auxy is a piece of art. But, as MF2k noted, ProMIDI has landed since then and has a very similar feature-set. Indeed, it's more of a question of which: trade some of Auxy's butter for ProMIDI's features or vice versa?
For the record, this is what it looks like when I kid myself publicly.
Like Auxy, but that broke the deal, maybe with more features or a lower price.
