Wow - Factory has more than 50% off. Gone from AU$39 to AU$15.

    Caving in.... arrhh.....must resist...!

NOTE: Looperator down to AU$28.... only $3 off. Bummer!

    1) Can someone help me choose between Bram Perforator or FAC Envolver?. They seem to do similar stuff…

FAC Envolver is unique. It's an envelope follower and noise gate that tracks incoming audio and sends MIDI CCs and MIDI notes. So it'll track/follow incoming audio, and send CCs to, say, control a synth's filter cutoff and resonance. And at the same time, it'll send MIDI notes to another synth and play that synth, based on the envelope follower's settings. It even has a scale quantizer built-in for the outgoing MIDI notes that it generates. So it's used to trigger other 'events' in other devices. Envelope followers are popular in the modular world.

Perforator is simpler - it sends 2 MIDI CCs depending on what Perforator's two channels are doing.

On the subject of great discounts from Sugar Bytes, the bargain of the bunch for me (if you don’t already own it) is Thesys, their step sequencer. It’s old school (I’ve owned the desktop version for at least 15 years) but it’s still one of the best step sequencers available on either desktop or iOS.

And it’s now available for the princely UK sum of £7.99

Looperator never seems to get much of a reduction in the sales.

  • Anyone has info about IAPs discounts on Sugar Bytes apps? I'm not sure if all of them are discounted

Yeah, I've noticed that. It must be selling too well without needing to go "on sale" to stimulate sales. Why discount it if it is already selling like hotcakes...?

To be honest, the interface kind of puts me off. I have watched a few videos and it doesn't appeal to me. I've got a few other SB apps and love them.

    Thanks for the suggestion anyway!

In general with Sugar Bytes sales, the newer the app the lesser the discount. e.g. Drum Computer is down from £26.99 to £17.99 whereas Thesys is a 50% discount.

I just bought Factory for less than half price.

Looperator is only a few bucks reduced. Not sure about the others.

It was more a suggestion to all really. :)

Ref the interface on Thesys. This used to be really fiddly as it was an interface designed for mouse control on the desktop and the iOS version was released at a time when SB wasn’t so clued up about the fact that you really need to be thinking ‘mobile first’ with interface design if you’re not creating bespoke interfaces for both desktop and mobile.

But Sugar Bytes remedied the situation in a simple and elegant manner. Double click on the interface to zoom in, plus all sliders have a fine interaction mode that doesn’t require a keyboard modifier key (it's activated by a slide-out in the bottom left of the interface). That way you have two options for granular control of the sliders. I use the slide-out but the double click zoom works too, depending on personal preference.

It's actually the visual feedback of the interface that makes Thesys such a brilliant step sequencer. Plus it's super deep when it comes to the options in the performance and modulation lanes.

It's a pity Sugar Bytes don't offer Thesys via the IAP model. You really need to use it to grok what makes it special. But you can always download the desktop demo, and get a feel for it that way.

Does anyone have experience with luma fusion on mac?

I do. On the M1Mac mini. It works well. I ended up moving the app to an external drive to free up the space it was taking from the main OS drive.

Thanks, i guess i‘ll try it

Yes, it went up exactly AU$3 about 6 months ago. Now it is discounted AU$3 for BF....LOL!

I had it bookmarked with the price noted and was surprised when it went up.

I was hoping it might have a good discount on BF but no luck.

$10 off a $30 app is a sale, but $3 is not worth worrying about.

I notice the Nembrini Analog Rack Screamer is on sale for £1.79 (GBP).

Does anyone know if this is a different product from their 808 Overdrive Pro?

just got the rack screamer. seems to be a bit more refined than the 808. less midrange boost, more low end on the screamer. and it can get cleaner than the 808. the screamer's in/out trim controls are useful. fwiw, /dan

    Thanks for the info. Mark.

Are on. Maybe it takes a while for App Store to propagate the changes..

  • Fabfilter desktop apps on sale for BF, nothing yet in the US App Store. Anyone see price drops in their respective country’s App Store ?

  • Dear Looping People, is Group the Loop still relevant in the time of Loopy Pro?

Never let anyone tell you ios music apps are just unserious toys.

Since a stochastic function generates numbers on random iterations, although each instance of the VOLBot client will be on the same distribution range as the server, it will demonstrate a variation of the intensity modulation created by the VOLBot server 😳

I was watching videos for the 3 apps: Fundamental, VOLBot and Passbot. Because all of them are on my wishlist. And I still didn't wrap my head around much simpler apps

Right? :) I mean I scanned through the descriptions of all of their stuff and they absolutely sound like they really know what they are doing. I say "sound like", not because I have doubts but because I don't understand half of it, but I'd love to. I hope they are successful.
