I gotta figure out what is blocking your posts from showing up for me. I know it’s something in adguard, when I hit the quote button I do get the link to whatever you post.

It might be the Twitter embeds. I believe a local news blog would screenshot the as they wouldn’t show up for some people.

Thanks to both of you for your contributions! 😎

    You’re welcome.

Yea @white is one of my favorite contributors.

There’s so many filters in Adguard, do you have it?

  • I was gonna send screenshots but it will take way to many photos to show you. Ummm.

Does anyone out there use Adguard- as an ad blocker, it’s a heck of an app even on the free tier.

I’m gonna try to turn some off and see what happens thanks.

Is the MPE pack useless if you don't have an MPE device?

  • @ashh said:
I think that you missed the point. The discussion, at that point (I know you like to be very specific), was around supporting the practice of constantly raising and lowering the prices of apps in order to generate publicity.

No, no - YOU missed MY point. I'm not the misser. You are the misser. If anyone is a misser around here it is not me. <---joke.

I read what the discussion was about. My point was to add that I didn't have a problem with the likes of Bleass or 4Pockets doing the price change thing. Just my opinion.

So. I don’t like it. I would rather an app had a thoughtful or meaningful way to advertise itself or it’s brand. That said, it must work or it would not be a thing and it is a thing. So people vote with their wallets, which was what Jon was saying.

You don't like it? Fine. No problem. Don't agree, but if that's your opinion, then fine. As Jon said, we are all allowed opinions.

While people do vote with their wallets I don't think that selling is as simple as that. That's where the science of pricing comes in.

It’s not sobbery (I realise you will claim it was a joke and reference your emoji but in that case, why not simply call him a Pterodactyl? Well, that’s because that name wouldn’t be connected to any of your thoughts regarding your view of Jon’s). Or, at least, I don’t believe it is. It’s more a case of morality. What a person believes is the right way or the wrong way to behave in these matters.

I wasn't claiming it was a joke - it IS a joke and a good one too. Well, mildly amusing to some people perhaps. Lame to others, maybe. Probably.

It was Jon's nicely put rant about "I just rather engage in marketing that doesn't feel like an endless barrage of cheap classified ads, typeset in bold capital letters." that made me laugh and think "wow - great character... the ad snob". I can hear John Cleese ranting that line in a comedy show.

Perhaps he'd be happy with the price discounts if they were advertised in expensive full page, glossy, art directed ads. <---another joke.

And, just for the record, I would never call Jon "a Pterodactyl". Not only would it be rude, but I can't spell it (I cut & pasted it from your message - such a cheater). Jon is not a Pterodactyl - he is a very knowledgeable music/production guy. And a terrible ad snob <----joke.

  • If what Paul at 4Pockets is doing helps him sell more apps, more power to him! He’s got some really great stuff and I’d like to see him stay in business.

    +1.

What might be a mild annoyance to us (constant price changing) might be a financial life saver for the small developer.

There are bigger things to nitpick about.

  • I guess this is what happens when we don't have new apps and sales to discuss. At least we have the EPIK FAIL to distract us. 😛

I find a number of things somewhat annoying about 4Pockets -- workflow, interface, iconography, and yes, the endless rotation of "sales." But there's certainly nothing I care to argue on the internet about. If you're delighted with 4Pockets, I'm happy for you.

    BTW, ID700 is on offer for $7.99 - https://apps.apple.com/app/id1482698043

  • Ah, remember the good old days when this was an app sales thread 👀😘

I'm very much in agreement here. 4Pockets apps may often be the cheapest option but seldom are they the best. Case in point Cameleon is a pale imitation of AudioLayer, Shimmer is a pale imitation of most other shimmer reverbs available on iOS (especially the Eventide and FAC options), and the current 4Pockers 'price bounce' app de jour Helium is a pale imitation of Atom 2.

I don't have anything against Paul or 4Pockets in general, I own a few of them and most often use Nu Rack for building bespoke utilities. But I do wish would Paul go the extra 20% with his apps to make them excel, rather than simply being good enough.

The great thing about FAC Alteza and Eventide's Blackhole & ShimmerVerb is that they're all so excellent you end up purchasing all three. They may cover similar ground but they each have something unique that adds to your palette of colours. 4Pockets Shimmer or even Bleass Shimmer (sorry Bleass, in general, I'm a fan of Bleass products) lacks the extra polish of their competitors and the competitor apps don't cost that much extra.

The long and short of it for me is that it's not just pricing acrobatics that puts me off 4Pockets apps. It's simply the case on many occasions they fall short of the baseline when compared to their competitor offerings.

To each their own. I much prefer Chameleon to AudioLayer, Neon does a lot of great things, etc. etc. 😎👍🏼

ID700 is $2 off down to $7.99 until the end of the year!

This was on my BF to New Years Day list, time to decide… I got a little though.

I remember hearing this has somewhat of a learning curve? Is that true? Even if you want to mainly send midi in?

How many presets? EDIT - Nevermind saw it has random preset creation…

    How is it on cpu?

Not really… the random preset are just names, probably generated by a random generator but not available in the app. Otherwise, it is a GREAT app

In the thread that started when I’d was released, I read about cpu spikes, particularly when playing polyphonic. Has that been fixed?

I don’t have any issues with cpu spikes on my end. iPad Air 4, iOS 15.1.

It is rather cpu intensive though. I just did a test with 4 instances of it in AUM. While playing 2 handed chords it hovered between 56-65%. When I laid across the keyboard with both arms it went to 85%. No crackles, spikes or pops though.

It is quite CPU intensive at times …. but this is sometimes down to the extremely long release (up to 128 seconds) on many factory patches, which can build up polyphony very quickly. Shortening release times and restricting max polyphony in the Settings can help.

It really is worth getting into this app, if you like ambient sounds, soundscapes/textures and the like. It’s possible to create very slowly evolving sounds so it’s ideal for creating music for meditation, relaxation, prayer etc.

Yes it’s a great app, worth exploring deeply. And some of the sounds are indeed generated by a Random Patch generator, which is not currently part of the app, but around the time of release the dev said he might include this tool in the app, but this hasn’t materialised so far.

Hey Poppa - if you start a new "sales" thread next year (and I hope you do) maybe you should just title the thread "2022 iOS App Sales" and not mention the "discussion" bit...?

That way we can just stick to the actual sales.
