Not really… the random preset are just names, probably generated by a random generator but not available in the app. Otherwise, it is a GREAT app

I saw this in the manual and thought that’s what it was saying.see 3.6

Interesting, that manual is v1.12, current app is v1.11, and the in-app manual doesn’t have that section. Wonder if it’s coming in the next version? There’s no dice icon in the header bar here.

I was looking at videos and screenshots and couldn’t find any dice eithEr. That was straight from their website too.

Lots of valid points on the sales thread, thanks for all the feedback.

I completely understand both sides of the sales thread discussion. It can be cumbersome to scroll through to find the sales, but some people, including myself, also want to have some minor discussions about the app or apps that are on sale without jumping to a whole new thread. However I do think when a particular topic creates a long conversation my hope is that those involved will break off into a new thread to discuss it further.

I tried to do 2 threads this year, that’s why this one had the word “discussion” the other thread did not. I quickly realized that it takes more time then I had to maintain both threads. The thread “2021 iOS app sales list “ (I think it’s called) was intended to be a list of sales but didn’t make it past January. This one seemed to be more popular so I decided to stick with this one.

I think I will leave out the word discussion for 2022, just have one thread called “2022 iOS App Sales”

There will be room for some discussion in the thread, but again I would hope that any discussions that begin to accrue more then a handful of comments and especially if they don’t pertain to the apps on sale would simply become a new thread. “That’s what threads are for…” like the song. Lol.

So all in all, I understand the various points of view, I hope to find a healthy balance for 2022. People should be able to discuss the apps on sale, but if it becomes something more, it should have its own thread. I obviously don’t have any control over other peoples posts, so I have to entrust those involved in the longer evolving discussions, to create a new thread when it seems appropriate. Thanks.

    Cheers all!

I like the thread as-is. It's an endless list of apps currently on sale. Just let it wash over you whenever you choose to check it. Think of it like the tide. Sales arrive, sales leave. Sales arrive, sales leave. Why bother looking at old posts for sales when the tide is always coming back with new sales?

ID700 is $2 off down to $7.99 until the end of the year!

    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/id700/id1482698043

This was on my BF to New Years Day list, time to decide… I got a little though.

I remember hearing this has somewhat of a learning curve? Is that true? Even if you want to mainly send midi in?

How many presets? EDIT - Nevermind saw it has random preset creation…

    How is it on cpu?

ID700 can be pretty efficient just like any FM synth, but it can also be a CPU destroyer if you're not aware of what you're doing.

Part of what makes ID700 such a great sound design tool is its crazy long envelopes (up to 32 seconds), but those long envelopes, when used heavily will cause heavy CPU loads. You just have to be aware of what you asking of the synth engine. The presets have plenty of bread & butter timbres that aren't anywhere near as demanding.

There's now a 'time scaling' knob in the top-left - at 100% the envelopes are between 0-32 seconds, but the envelopes can now be scaled from 8 seconds to 128 seconds (or shorter/longer with point modulation).

It's a versatile 4-op FM/Additive waveshaping synth. From minutes-long evolving soundscapes to percussion that's an entirely new sound with every new trigger. (There are many modulation sources, including stepped + smoothed random). Plus massive basses that cut through as well as beautiful leads and the usual FM and additive glassy tones.

An ABF forum member kindly uploaded an algorithm cheat sheet a year or so ago but I cannot find it. Anyone have a link? Thanks.

But true. Absolutely true. This thread is all about how to pay 2 units for something instead of 4 units. Nothing wrong with that, but why pretend it's anything else? This is a solid thread that does exactly what it says on the tin.

Again, the endless rotation of unremarkable price changes is what bugs some people.

    What? 🤔

Absolutely. A monthly post is a brilliant way to help members reflect on all those missed one-day lumbeat sales and promo weekend sales. 👌

A discussion regarding the apps that're on sale is what makes a forum different from the likes of AppSliced. There are plenty of places online to find out which apps are on sale but few that provide an opportunity for discussions regarding those apps.

Regarding the recent discussion in this thread regarding ‘price bouncing’, it's obvious that views differ regarding the practice, but as a discussion point in a thread about iOS app sales it seems a reasonable place for the discussion to take place, as long as it doesn't end up being many, many pages in lengh.

If it wasn't for the fact that we're in the fallow period for genuine app sales between the end of Black Friday promotions and the beginning of the xmas sales, the 'price bouncing' posts would have been distributed amongst genuine sale announcements so most people would barely of noticed it taking place.

I'm not pretending anything, and I have no issues with this thread. I simply don't share the view that "the whole purpose of this thread is to pay devs as little as possible." But he did say later it was intended to be sarcastic/ironic.

There's nothing wrong with looking for a better deal, and I said as much.

Again, the endless rotation of unremarkable price changes is what bugs some people.

    What? 🤔

This was in response to "weighing the correctness of a bouncing $2 price change" which I presume is a reference to the 4Pockets sales cycle. No need to rehash that.

Understood, and apologies to all, i feel as if i lit this particular fire, re price bouncing…. Was a little surprised how far it went. Price stuff does tend to become a thing here on the forum, shoulda known!

Meanwhile the service you provide here is an immense blessing to us all, @Poppadocrock
(And a curse! To the wallet…)
Big ups, thanks again Mr, and sorry again too.

  • Maybe we should have an official "iOS Sales App Thread Committee"?

It could function as a kind of executive branch with Poppdocrock as a kind of central co-ordinator rotating with members of a sub committee made up of the more app addicted forum members. We could get IK to develop an algorithm to delete posts that were not "thread friendly" or just boring or ones that mentioned "Drambo", "Hitler", "Trump", "Clinton" or "cowbells".

I'm not sure why this isn't being raved about. Was there a time when it was?

Loopesque, the original is super legit. I was pretty floored by it when I got it (my beef with patterning was always that it felt like it takes too long to get a proper kit set up, then if you need to reset, bleh, love playing around in it but don’t think I’ve made anything I’d sign my name to). Loopesque solves that gripe and then some! Lol

Don’t be fooled by loopesque 8. You already have the best offering. It’s easy to be fooled when you check it out afrer falling in love with the first one but don’t do it!

You have totally nailed it my man!

Drambo is capable of anything — and EVERYTHING! 😉

  • Seriously though if people just want to see iOS sales, then they can just go to appsliced and be done in 30 seconds.

If they want to see sales, discuss the apps and speculate about coming deals and bundles, then they have this thread. I don't mind when it goes off topic, as it tends to only last a few posts, and often it's of interest in terms of general iOS music production.

This thread is like a pub conversation... it would be a shame if it just became a list of apps.
