Maybe not all Launchpads are supported?
What is your Launchpad? Specifc model and revision. Can you share a screenshot of your routing?
Definitely possible, but according to the app, mine is (Launchpad Pro 3), so I’m wondering if I’m doing something wrong, or if the integration isn’t quite complete, or if additional routing via the midi port of the LPP3 is required?
Launchpad Pro 3
Session mode works fine without any routing, and displays all the clips shown in LK on the launchpad, but Note mode plays nothing
Edit: whereas Atom 2, for instance, requires no routing for either session mode or note mode to work
Edit #2: And as seen here in the drop down input menu, LK doesn’t see LPP3 midi port as a usable ‘source’, only the DAW port

For those unaware: the Launchpad Pro 3 and X (and maybe others) have multiple ports in one usb connection. The ‘DAW’ port which drives session mode and the side buttons and the ‘Midi’ port which drives notes on the 64 pads
I route the launchpad’s midi out to LK
Good to know. It’d be nice if the dev could integrate it directly on both ports like we have in atom.
Also, Are you ever getting dropped or hanging notes with LK?
I haven't had a problem with hanging notes -- but I haven't used it tons.
I have this problem when sending midi to loopy pro. But the problem comes from Loopy not LK.
incidentally everything on 80% off sale today in LK.
Have you reported this issue to @Michael ?
Yes he will work on it after correcting a few other bugs.
I want to like LK but it is just so unstable. I owned it for over a year now and never could get it to work with Ableton on my PC. Not that big of a problem as I wanted to use it as a clip launcher in AUM. Problem is, it crashes ... a lot.
I just had a session with 3-4 tracks, each having 2 scenes so far and had 3 crashes while doing various things. Since I don’t save every minute, the work is lost after a crash. It’s a bummer really.
I unlocked everything but midi controller, xy pad and keyboard and I really like the concept and Imaginandos other products, which I all have (and like a lot) except VS. I’ve never been a fan of LK’s UI, it feels clunky, especially on a IPP 12.9 but the crashes make it unusable for me. Not looking for tech support here, just wanted to share my unfortunate experience.
Does it crash to you as an Ableton Live controller or as a midi sequencer inside AUM?
LK is not crash free but right now it is more stable than ever. In the last 30 days it crashed 56 times in 6900 sessions. In average it crashes 1.8 times a day. Crashing 1.8 times in 230 daily sessions, is less 1%.
If it does crash sistematically with you, please let us know how to reproduce so we can fix it.
I'm struggling to find any way of copy and pasting notes inside a clip, is that not a thing inside the clip editor I can select all the notes I want to copy but can't find a duplicate function?
It'e all good I found it tucked away in the clip inspector panel...🤦♂️
I recently got LK and it works great!
When I am in LIVE mode, the midi monitor mode in the inspector works as it should but when I am using it in Midi Mode and AUM
I always hear the notes when playing the piano roll.
This, maybe, is intended but for example, when I want to select the notes for velocity changes, I am hearing the notes while selecting (double tapping) the notes on the piano roll.
It would be a great addition to be able to turn this off.
The method for selecting individual notes also works but it is a bit inconvenient/slow.
The double tapping method for selecting is super, and being able to select them without hearing them would be soo cool!
Have you tried to disable this?
Yes I have. But there is no difference.
I am using LK with AUM and sequencing DRC
Suggestion for Launchpad Mini mk3
Problem: NI left out a record arm or track record arm function because they want to upsell us.
Solution: It’s common to have to choose between a mute and a solo function (the TX-6 for example does this); allow toggling either mute or solo over to track record arm. So, an AUv3 option to use ‘mute’ for track arm (or an option for ‘solo’ for track arm) which the Launchpad then supports easily.
I have a workaround, custom user mapping, but that consumes ~2 rows and requires toggling modes, unfortunate for performance. I don’t want the upgraded Launchpads not because they’re expensive but because they’re much less portable and we are talking iPad community here. Thanks
Is it possible to record my MIDI performance into LK’s matrix, rather than drawing in MIDI notes? I’d like to use my hardware MIDI controller to quickly sketch out melodies etc.
Yes, it records midi.
@sinosoidal heya fella I've run into what I'm assuming is a bug when using lk in AUM, basically the lk plugin window shows up as blank after a few minutes of use after having been present on loading the AUM session , if I save the session and restart it's all back but at the moment it's unusable..
Can you reproduce it sistematically?
I'll have to have a look and get back to you, it been hanging midi notes too and became unresponsive after I changed a patch in zeonn also, strange behaviour, only running one instance with four other plugins, zeonn, segments, frms, and synthmaster.. running on m1 air with latest os..
I was playing around a little with the Matrix last night, in particular with the scale/chord generating/mutating functions (link to manual).
I applied it to some melody line I had, and the results were kind of unlistenable lol. There must be a process, though, for utilizing this tool to get something listenable out of it.
I was wondering if anyone would want to suggest or share some videos/examples of practical use for the chord mutating stuff?
Have you tried setting a scale to that particular clip in the keyboard properties? If you don't set one, generated notes will be completely random. However, if you set a particular scale, you'll have generated chords/melodies that will belong to the same key. If you want specific notes you can also define a custom scale with them
I think I did, but I'll try again. I might post a vid to show.
When I mutated the melody, that worked much better for that instance. It was when I mutated the melody to create chords that it sounded sort of cacophonous.
Ok, i bought it, since it had a good discount. Now, can somebody please tell me why i would use LK instead of Drambo 2.0, Zenbeats, Beat Maker 3, or even Gadget with the Midi Out gadget? I know people keep trying to make AUM work as a complete production environment, and LK AUv3 is another piece of the puzzle. But besides that, how does it compare to other clip-based midi sequencers?
What makes LK special?
Of the things you mentioned, only Drambo is an AUv3. So, the others are irrelevant if looking for AU midi sequencer. Besides being a clip launcher, and unlike Drambo, it can be used as a MIDI recorder to capture unquantized MIDI without length restrictions. So, it is useful for situations where you want a midi recorder and editable piano roll.
It has a healthy range of easy to use clip launching functions and follow actions.
Just wanted to reply that it seems to have been user error on my part. Something was definitely messed up with my midi connections in AUM, so it looks like two instances of an instrument were playing instead of the one I was expecting.
There might have also been something funky going on with the midi I had imported, since it was sounding a bit weird in Atom 2 as well. It wouldn't be a bad bet to assume that was some sort of user error on my part too.
Anyway, once those errors were fixed, it sounded a whole lot better. I'm very happy to have snatched LK matrix just for this functionality.
