Is there an app I can use to create original animations? I’m particularly interested in geometry…

Frax also has video output available https://apps.apple.com/us/app/fra/id568827824

And Frax into iornament can be interesting (ignore my jumpy gif settings, just minimizing frames.)

I got Frax and Iornament crafter yesterday, based on these tips. A lot of fun. Bizarre thing is that apple is trying to charge me more than the ioranamant app price itself to get the 'duo bundle', this despite the fact I didn't buy the app on sales price.

BTW, is there much difference between Iornament and Iornament Pro?

I have been using iOrnament (and it’s awesome counterpart iO Crafter) for a few years but didn’t find the upgrade to “Pro” understandable. There are a couple extra features like sparkly effects? I was upset that the bundled price was more expensive than the standalone price, especially since I’d already purchased iOrnament and expected a discount, and in playing with the Pro version didn’t find any significant changes to usage. I refunded the bundle when I found out I was being charged more but didn’t see the value in the new app regardless.

If you’re into coding, it’s definitely worth checking out Processing, which is a JavaScript variant, and would definitely allow you to create animations like this.

    https://processing.org/examples

In a similar vain.. p5.js allows you to create simple to complex animation and export to gifs, etc. Think it may be based on processing, but much easier to pick up and even run and test in browser. Does work on iPad too in browser. See some examples here https://p5js.org/examples/

For better examples in the Erik Söderberg vain and what can be achieved using p5js see this link : https://giphy.com/search/p5js

From my limited knowledge p5.js may be more recent than Processing and may be more advanced I'm not sure, but there is plenty of info online. I took an online Processing course with Future Learn which got me doing similar animations to your earlier example.

You can certainly export stills and animations from Processing, or at least a frame sequence which can be assembled into an MP4 or GIF or whatever.

VOSC might be right up your alley, though it is once again not exactly what you are seeking. https://apps.apple.com/ca/app/vosc-visual-particle-synth/id592599278

This app is pretty cool! Pity the text is so damn small, but this is up my street for sure

It’s a challenge about the text off the bat, but you will find it is not necessary to read it after some practice :)

The presets system is tricky, by the way. It doesn’t have a cue for which way to drag for save and load, so it is easy to both 1) overwrite a file you didn’t want to and 2) erase all work you have just done as you go to save it.

What is going on here is you have to pull the slider either left or right to see the function it will perform, but if you pull it all the way to the end in either direction it executes the command; the slider sticks to the end and the function of save or load is performed upon letting go of the screen. There’s no unsticking it and it’s a tiny slider. :#

    There’s a Pro now? 🤪
Looks like it has more sparklies! And angled lighting effects. Also photo import. Not sure what else yet.

Yes lol. And iornament main AppStore blurb mentions it has an iap but actually there is no ‘iap available’ listed on the iap section of the App Store blurb. All very confusing

This dev is quite interesting. He seems to be a mathematician and has here done a talk on some aspects of maths and music:

I am using at 2018 iPad Pro, on which it is running famously on iOS 16 (newest update). It seems that recording has actually been improved since last I tried to.

I ended up grabbing it and it is pretty fun so far. Are you recording with screen recording? The screen capture doesn’t seem to work for me unless I’m missing something

I am using the iOS screen record function currently. I haven’t had success with experimenting with the export in the app. I don’t think it worked before either, thinking about it, which is I think why the iOS screen record improvement is to my liking.

  • There’s a cool flip animation app called Kineo.

Mandala Maker 360 is free usually cost money see link in sales thread.

Because of storage limitation, I offloaded VS from my device... but can't it handle that?

If you're up to work on a computer, I would recommend playing with Blender

Maybe vs. Can you record sequences? Thanks!

Sorry for the delay. Yep... you can. But still not sure on geometric sequences.
Gonna do a cleanup on my device and load it up again and do a double check
