ID700 is amazing for slow texture ambient stuff. It’s the iOS version of a Buchla 700.

That's not showing on my iPhone. Only iPad.

    Yeah. It's iPad only.

    There they are!

    Nice work

  • How about Ripplemaker, Tardigrain, Phosphor3?

What would be a good iPhone capable delay. With reverse.

Also, is there anything like Other Desert Cities on iPhone?

I have and love k7D, and did have some others, like many of the great apps listed here, I don't have them on my phone, hence looking for reminders where to find everything I need, following a year's hiatus due to medical issues.

Woodulator does reverse delay, pitch shifting, and has its own BBD-inspired character:
    https://apps.apple.com/app/woodulator/id1439116752

When ODC came out I thought it would replace Woodulator for me, but the (acknowledged) bugs have put me off of it

Woodulator has reverse delay AND is universal?! I learned something new today. :)

Woodulator is brilliant. @Grandbear what are the bugs with ODC?

Yeah, Animoog is Z and iD700 would be good choices. To me ambient is far more about creative use of fx than any particular apps. You could go a long way with just some free samples off the Internet, Gauss, a simple sampler with AA sampler that can do sound design - simply by taking any sample and dragging the start and end points, you now have a totally unique sound, playable by keyboard, that the world has never heard before. All the chow apps for sure, also all free. And you're already good to go in the reverb department with blackhole, crystalline (super flexible), maybe Alteza which I keep coming back to for its creamy sound. Rymdigare too! Unfiltered audio apps for sure. Tardigrain and / or fluss for granular (think I prefer Tardigrain tbh). That's all you really need. Throw in a few generative midi apps and maybe something like RRS EQ560 for live easy EQing.

Ah damn, I wrongly assumed due to the simple interface that AA would have an iPhone version. I don't use iPhone so best someone else advises on that.

Generative midi - maybe Zoa? And might want to add in Ooda, though it also requires input - you could add in input from generative apps if you want. I've also been getting a lot of use out of 4Pockets Progressions, not sure if it is available for iPhone. Really nice to pump stuff from it into Ooda.

  • @Gavinski thanks for all the goodness. Progressions looks interesting.

Sampler-wise - DawnBeat, Koala, sEgments, Sitala all have their own different benefits in different situations, but again, I’m no expert on sampling. Sample Crate is SUPER useful for demoing samples, including in Audioshare, which Sitala doesn’t currently have access to. I’ve definitely been getting more interested in sampling recently though, for sure, so will be digging in to all properly at some point. These are all iPhone compatible, depending on your phone iOS etc

Me too. I'm looking for some learning resources online. I'm about to post on the forum, asking for suggestions.
