Are we talking about weeks or months before the iOS/iPadOS version drops?
Curious about that too too.
Looks/sounds pretty cool to me. A CS clone is something I’ve been wanting on iOS for a while so I’m kind of excited for this one. Will have to wait to hear more demos, but right now I’m (mostly) sold.
> Desktop first..iOS some time after
This design has fixed drive into the filter - switchable waveforms with a crossfader between oscillators. Which means no way to vary character. So long as Baby have hit the “sweet spot of liveliness” between under-driven (piercing resonance) and over-driven (suppressed resonance) this isn’t a bad thing for a beginner.
Started testing the demo on desktop and I have to admit... there's something about a stripped down, simple synth that I find just irresistible. Nicely done, Baby Audio.
Here is my video for the desktop version of BA-1, iOS is coming

Seems like the ‘IHNY-2’ release model. Desktop first..iOS like 45 days later
I coming to be interested to this synth , sound good and its GUI seems interesting from an educational point of view (thinking to my 2 nephews to learn them synthesis in an enjoyable manner).
For those expert In synthesis It should be a toy compared to top synth or Modulars.
After all Moog Model 15 was made with an educational point of view about synthesis and this new one could become interesting as a more modern approach to explain synthesis in schools ?
There’s nothing wrong with the sounds, not at all. It just takes me too much effort to be enthusiastic about it. Don’t we already have a ton of synths that can do all this stuff? The battery and speaker settings are a nice little addition that makes a difference. But I am afraid they are going to ask too much money for something that is too middle of the road. Again, nothing wrong with the sounds.
Kinda surprised that there's no built-in limiter in BA-1 as quite a few presets that 'clip' ?!
It does have its own sound and with everything present on one-screen it is quite easy to tweak.
So far I've only take the desktop version for a demo-spin and feel a bit 'Luke-Warm/Meh' about it...
A limiter would be a welcome addition. I had to adjust volume a few times before I just added my own.
I’ll probably try the demo out after I’m done watching this Villa game but Twin 3 has made it pretty difficult to get too excited about VA synths anymore to be honest
Seems like it sounds great. I’m definitely interested in it. Just wondering what the price will be. I doubt it’s under $20 but I hope it is.
Someone above mentioned $49.99 but I don’t know if there’s any truth to that. Based on the price of their other apps I’d say it’s a real possibility though.
The Battery slider 😎
Makes me wonder if they’ll add the ‘power off’ function that the desktop demo uses as a parameter that can be automated, it’s almost like a tape-stop effect with quantized pitch-glide when power turns off and back on.
For the iOS version or the desktop?
In my book this exactly what an app/plugin presentation video should be like. Concise, informative and showing exactly what the thing does, but by bit. It’s perfect.
As far as I know the iOS/iPadOS price is not known yet?!
The $49.99 is the desktop intro-price and it will later on go up to $99.90 for the desktop version.
Even if I like Baby Audio I will not buy their iOS apps synth for $49.99 it is more pricey that dood Daw or any wonderful top iOS synth.
Exactly. I had asked and someone replied with $50 so it caught me off guard but I guess they were referring to desktop and not iOS.
I highly doubt it will be $50 but I’m sure we’re not too many years away from iOS apps becoming more expensive.
If it become like that I will not increase my budget I will buy 3 to 4 apps a year , it should be apps really with the power of wonderful VST apps as I want far more than usual a tubal iOS apps for 50 USD, and small dev will have a hard time or will need to join a team to make such apps. I will ask also for that price to have a continuous following , dood manual and videos tutorials.
My more Pricey apps are Cubasis 3 ( with all good IAP including Waves) this is a team dev , continuous dev improvement and good tutorials. Other pricey ones in bundle ( so 3 apps included) Fab filters this is pro apps and Audio Baby Crystalline , a good buy at pro level existing as VST and even I find it pricey but far less than 50 usd .
Baby Audio is just an other pretty basic ios synth in the range of 10 usd to 20 usd not more. So the price will be key factor to buy or not buy it.
As iOS gets more powerful and grows in users, it’s only inevitable that prices will increase. Probably not for all developers and all apps, but as we start to touch on desktop territory, I imagine higher end Devs will start charging more. I could be wrong though. I hope I am.
I suspect a lot of devs are now playing with pricing to see how far they can push it.
If the app is percieved as too much, the user just won't buy it.
My gut says it'll $24.99 for the iOS/iPadOS version when released...
...but it could also be lower.
I’m ok to buy it at 14,99 usd not more so it will not be an insta buy for me.
I'm still on the edge considering whether it will actually add any real value to what I already have.
Still playing around with the BA-1 desktop demo to get a grip on what it can do...
...then again I did the same 'demo' with the Twin 3 desktop version and ended up getting it for the iPad and removed it from the desktop...
My guess is they'll do the same thing they did with IHNY-2 and use an IAP to unlock the full functionality.
This way the user can 'demo' the product and if they like it they can unlock full functionality.
Cheers!
