I got the issue sorted out,
The iOS version is a fraction of the cost of the desktop version, even with the all-in bundle which contains a la carte gear that would also cost a lot more in Custom Shop on the desktop. If something pops up because you tapped a function you do not have, and you do not wish to purchase and use it, of course you would have no need to tap that again.
For an update or $20 if you don't already have AmpliTube (or didn't get it while we were giving it away free), you get
And I'm sure I probably missed something.
Hello IK. Can you put an amps and pedals only bundle? I have no need for other features as they are well covered by other apps i own.
@ikmultimedia
No need to be defensive, you have good products. You're on a music board, more specifically an ios audiobus music board, where folks are knowledgable about all of the different factors. Igrand and ilectric are fantastic, as are the new sampletank packs. I also use my irig keys at every live show and it does what it does well.
The amplitube update looks nice (I did get amplitube for free last week), but for me, especially as a bassist, there's not enough for me to justify the cost. And, in terms of cost, the $99 all in bundle plus the $20 upgrade (forgive me if I missed that the "all in" bundle includes the v4 upgrades, my understanding was that they are separate), is easily more pricey than other apps. Is that good or bad? Depends on persepctive, but you can't deny that an app that would cost $120 for the full version, or $140 if you did not get it last week for free, plus in 2 versions, not universal, approaches desktop pricing more than other apps might. If it drives great development, that could be very good- having a few great tools is far more valuable in the long run than a device full of toys. However, there's other apps that are very similar that are priced at half that for their full complement of options. That's not to say you can't price things how you like, and without a doubt ik is very adept at marketing. I also think it comes across here as "Preaching to the choir." Except after a while the choir tunes out the preaching because they hear it all the time. ;-) Just my opinion of course, and it is meant respectfully.
I also sense a shift in thinking on this board as a result of some of apple's policies and restrictions, and maybe ios is not being seen with as bright of a light as it was a year ago. I know my iPad Air running ios7 does everything I need and I have no plans for "upgrades" anytime soon. The new devices seem to be not making as much of a splash as the air did when it was released, and while there are huge conveniences to doing music on ios, it's also been true that getting things to work together is becoming too much of a challenge to be worth it. Ive gotten away from amp sims on the ipad in favor of a zoom hardware unit that sounds fantastic and was not expensive, and with my ipad tied up running the PA at live shows most of the time, I've gotten away from the idea of using the ipad for this purpose. So, higher priced apps at this point may be starting to be met with some skepticism because the platform may not seem as 'future proof" as once thought. Nothing is future proof, but when a perfectly working device that is 3 years old is rendered unusable by software issues (the spare iPod touch I have that runs ios6 can run only a very few apps- an older version of sampletank being one of them), that becomes a little too tranistory for some.
For others, this app may be brilliant. I certainly don't have the fantasy that your company is in business only to cater to my every need or want. In any event, I'm going too long here. I don't intend to start any issue nor do I want to debate you about it. We've had good interactions in the past and it should remain that way. I hope amplitube does well for you.
@ikmultimedia - I'm thinking if getting the iRig Pro in the near future - have the included apps been amended at all?
@mrufino1 - As an iPad 3 buyer, well I think that's all I actually have to say ("an iPad 3 buyer") to be as succinct and carefully-worded in my response
And I respect your posts and do not mean to start a debate either, so I'm in agreement on that too.
Though I seriously do hope that more of the shining light returns, not because we make products for the platform but because I've seen the arc of the overall iOS music creation experience hit some roadblocks for many (especially on forums like this one, and similar places where groups of more advanced iOS musicians gather). There's still a lot of ground to cover, so I remain optimistic not as an IK employee but as a musician. My workflow is still more productive (I like to start writing/sketching with Cubasis and a slew of apps, then move it right over to the desktop as I find Cubasis --> Cubase quite handy as I've used the latter since its inception) this way, and personally/selfishly hope the light keeps shining and we all get through any roadblocks and we can continue to use tools and a workflow that was unheard of when this old man was studying audio engineering and composition in ways that seem prehistoric now. Of course I, or IK, or anybody here really don't hold the reins on that as you pointed out so I absolutely see your points and respect them 100%. I will reiterate to also make sure I remember too: I remain optimistic. IK has adjusted before, so that's not a concern, I just hope to have a personal workflow for a long time. OK /end personal blathering
I went too long too, I see I have some other questions/comments to answer now.
Thank you for the suggestion. I will forward it internally.
This would probably also be a good time to point out that the All-In Bundle 2014 is now $49.99 (usually $99.99) as we decided to offer this as an AmpliTube 4 release intro special for those interested.
The inclusions have not been amended - you will get the Mac/PC software that is currently included as well as the exclusive AmpliTube iOS gear included.
the looper is a copy of the Michael one: Loopy
@ikmultimedia
Thanks for that post. I agree, I have a workflow as well and don't need to change it soon. We'll see where it all goes, and in the end it's just a little slice of life, not the whole thing!
With that being said, if you are allowed, come here and participate in discussions that aren't ik related as well, it's always good to have different viewpoints on subjects.
The Octaver sounds much better in the update, you can get a pretty good bass guitar sound from it with a regular six-string electric. Overall the update is good, sound quality much better across the board.
I will do my best to, that is a good suggestion.
Thank you for the kind words and for trying it out again. Bringing the exact desktop code over really opened things up for improvement. I've also tried to improve and actually multiquote
I have used amplitude as a vst for tracking and ended up using it for the final mix and even to reamp for many years, I can not fault the hardware that IK has brought to the table and for IOS , but... Regardless of how great the update sounds, there is a huge sting with the IAP.
To tap anywhere brings a fear it'll charge you, the features to sell the app are hidden behind a huge paywall.
A guitarist will generally try an amp in a store after a huge comparison and after long long time and once the magic happens they will buy it, one amp will serve as a foundation to their tone, on stage sometimes we can't have more that at least one head and cab due to stage room... What I am getting at is, why not give the option to try the Amps for long enough to get a hint of why we want it, also why not give the option already to have a great tuner and mic / cab options?......
.....I'm having a rant and hate to sound like I'm being a prat but I just wish IAP weren't so forced and needed as much as they are, I wouldn't add an extra fee option to artists to add EQ or compression to the final master once it is off to print and getting ready for release. If I said reverb is extra to a client and they knew what reverb was I would be stuffed.
Maybe IAP is a way of generating more but it's also a huge reputation killer.
Either way I'll use amplitude as a vst for a very long time, as for the iPad app.. I hope so in the future but I can't pay for something I couldn't hear, see or try first. Clothing shops have changing rooms and I don't have to commit to buying for trying.
Well said WCSSW! I spent a whole lot on amplitude in the past and have regrets of doing so. There should be an offering of a trial period of say 48 hrs. I have had amplitude for a couple of years but I won't upgrade with this situation being what it is. Trying before buying is not in my opinion too much to ask and should be normal practice in IOS music apps. It may well be worth the price but I have no way of knowing at this point. If IK thinks it is worthy and worth the cost they should have no problem to let people try and decide otherwise for now I pass.
At this time, you can hear and/or see the new functionality gear in audio and video demos we've released (including a numerous comparisons of the iOS and desktop versions) at:

That's fair enough, but every guitarist has a different guitar, pickups, strings, tuning and play style. It's like buying a car and someone else doing the test drive.
Even an audition mode would be a step in the right direction.
Oh I know, I have relayed the concern over this to the team.
Cheers bud, I really hope it doesn't seem like I'm putting your app down, I want it to be successful but also fair.
Not at all what I thought, I understand. I took it as extremely constructive.
Amplitube 4.0 is not working for me. I am using the iRig Pro, there is a guitar signal but the amps and effects do not work. My other guitar apps work, including Amplitube Orange, Fender, Slash and Hendrix. I am using the iPad 3. Anyone else having these issues?
Go into the mixer/studio view, it will probably be the Drum Track is Soloed, just press S And it should be OK
And here is a demo for the Ampeg Bass Amp with s Bass Guitar
I'm on iPad 3 as well, and all works fine. Except for some audio glitches now and then. And the drummer doesn't loop properly.
@Flo26 - 1. no 2. don't know
If I had this problem I would change the channel in the settings. I don't know if I have this problem cause I haven't tested amplitube yet. You could try and change the channel. And: you must have ios 7.1 or higher.
lol. Yes, that is it. I mean you don't have to pay again. I recently downloaded the offer of Amplitube to get Amplitube for free, then it altered to 4 (the 4 version is an upgrade, not a new product), then I did 'restore purchase' cause I already had Fender, and I see that Fender is now in amplitube 4, all the Fender amps and effects are in the app and accesible.
Hmmm..strange. Did you update to the latest version of Amplitube?
Edit: another question: Do you have the Hendrix etecera apps actually installed on your iPad, or are they in the online cloud?
Sounds good. But you are getting fined $50 for slapping through a b15. ;-) Actually, its a $25 fine just for thinking about slapping. Be thankful you didn't play higher ground (with the necessary timing issues for true guitar store authenticity)- two men would have showed up at your door and confiscated your bass...
Ha! But seriously, as usual a very informative video.
I have editted my comment, did you read my second question?
I am happy to be of help. It should work now.
