Would you mind if I downloaded Waiting Room Progression and “played” with it?
If you’re okay with that, can you tell me key and tempo.

I missed this message. I’ll see if I can find the source audio file and put it in the sharing folder.

It’s been moved to the sharing folder and renamed “Waiting Room Progression”.

Thanks.. the piano and time signature is a direct rip off and respect for this Willow tune that all the jazz analysts are going crazy over:

An interview with the keyboard player Brad Oberhofer who gets co-writer credit with Willow, the producer Chris Griatti and surprize the drummer Asher Bank. He discloses the process.

    1. The drummer laid down a 7/4 track.

    2. The keyboard player added this tuple pattern that works against the quarter note pulse.

    3. The bass play fits in with the chords generated.

    4. Willow created her melody which impressed the keyboard player for its lines and vocal execution.

Then there’s this 4/4 section that’s just as interesting I think.

The keyboard player interview is here:

Lot’s of good ideas for making music that will confuse your listener.

  • S’good. I liked the ending. Whacks on, whacks off.
Happy 4th in the new world.

Thanks. Automation on the audio drum loop imported from “Hip Hop Drummer” laying down a 7/4 beat. Importer at the 120 BPM but boosted in Staffpad to 140.

    Happy 4th in

    the new world.

Lot’s of extra visitors on our daily ocean view drive today.

  • Back to the Cinema style… intended to generate images based on the title:

  • Symptom of Life. Damn, that’s good. Reminds me a bit of Black Dog by Zeppelin. JPJ composed a crazy riff, but JB just counted 4 and it worked. Saw them in 1973 at the Chicago Stadium. My buddy stopped by after work and told me they were selling SRO tickets. We got there at about 5:30 for the 8:00 show. We got first row, first balcony seats for 5 bucks! To make it even better, we got some great weed, too. Hey hey mama!

  • Nicely Orc-hestrated 😊

I’m getting a string deja vu feeling from your comment here. I think I must have created something before to trigger this memory.

  • Back at it after a few months off…

I do appreciate you checking in on latest addition to this thread.

When I get around to naming I tend to visualize running, racing, high speed chases and all the action/adventure motifs.

This one started from a 4-5 tracks drum, bass, percussion loop. The a StaffPad improvised conversation between sax, brass and later strings.

  • Yeah, has that TV show feel, in a good way. I like the drive. What did you use for bass?

Hey, I finally got staffpad couple days ago. It’s really awesome.

Memory is an unreliable narrator but I believe I used ibassist to generate a MIDI bass line on the Cm - Fm progression. Then I used the Hammond B-3X app for the bass instrument. Those B-3’s have a bass section few keyboard apps can touch for punch… that’s the defining attribute of the Hammond for me which is the percussive attack.
Always a quick option to get a bassline with presence.

From fanfare to chaos in about 25 bars…

I like this a lot. I don't know how this happened, but I'm glad that it did. How did this happen?

I exported a StaffPad score into Wavefile Stems and imported them into Cubasis for Master Mixing with a lot of Reverb FX:

Mostly to hear what it might sound like on a new car stereo.

  • Sounds good on my office PC speakers. I will listen in headphones when I get home tonight. They were not extremely expensive, but they are very flat. Most people don't have ultra high end audio systems, but most everyone has a car or home stereo. If I can get a decent sound where all parts can be heard in relative balance to the others, at different overall volumes, I am satisfied. I usually burn a CD every few months to double check my ears. I also post on a few other forums that favor high end, expensive desktop systems. They don't take me and my iPad seriously, but they are more than happy to criticize my production. I listen to their suggestions and incorporate them occasionally. Everything ultimately renders down to a single stereo track, usually played on an average home or car audio system. You get to that end result by spending a lot of money, a lot of time, or somewhere in between. I have more time than money, so I tend towards the latter.

Thanks for the listen and conversational comment. I know using this type of “catch all” thread keeps the audience following along very small. The few that do are usually “paying it back” for recognizing their creative threads. Good tip for anyone seeking feedback… seek out creative posts and comment generously and you see many of those creators checking out your work.

Thanks @GeoTony. I suspect you’ve actually listened to the Lion’s share of these StaffPad creations
and I appreciate it. It feels like the name change of the forum has impacted the community here but
it’s probably just the loss of @LinearLineman , @Svetlovska and others I didn’t notice dropped off.

It’s just a few of us left that regularly share creations and support each other’s work: you, @Paulieworld, @DavidEnglish…
I should join the Song of the Month group maybe to keep the site interesting.
