What I Wanted - Post-Rock infused Indie guitars đ¸
This borrows heavily from Post-Rock instrumental music, with the extreme dynamics and the ebbs and flows in the arrangement, but with the addition of vocals to give it more of an indie-rock flavour.
All the guitars and vocals were tracked and mixed in Logic for iPad. The guitar tone was mostly derived from pedals, with the reverb and modulation/delay added in the box.
Lyrics in the spoiler:
I wanted you
To hold me tight
And tell me it will be alright
I wanted you to help me
I wanted you to tell me
It's what I wanted
It's what I wanted
It's what I wanted
It's what I wanted from you
I wanted you
To say you might
Help me make it through the night
I wanted you to need me
I wanted you to see me
It's what I wanted
It's what I wanted
It's what I wanted
It's what I wanted from you
Now, youâre finding
That this love is stifling
Now, youâre finding
That I'm not for you

Thanks!
Great stuff, good song with trademark catchy chorus, before you change things up structurally. I love the atmospheric breakdown and the instrumental coda which both make for a different and always interesting arrangement.
Ah, the nostalgia of when I attempted a Post Punk song on my former Op-1 Field. I miss that workstation. This took me back to Dec last year. â¤ď¸
Gave your song a listen while replying to the iPad Mini thread. I love it!
(Yes, I'll be back to making music on an iPad tomorrow once my new Mini arrives. đ )
Heh. I just needed to wait for a Mini with enough space on it tbqh. Apple needed to catch up, and now they have.
Oh? What happened to the OP-1 Field and OP-Z mate? Just weren't using them anymore?
Dang that's sad news all around mate. Sorry to hear. Hopefully you find some other hardware you gel with.
Nice! I enjoyed that.
Great track Richard! I especially like the atmosphere break around 3:00. Catchy chorus ! Nice ending, the basic move would have been to sing a last verse Chorus and it's great you chose a different way.
Your work is El Dorado for someone who likes originality and individualism in music art. Thank you for sharing! đ¤Š

Thanks all for taking the time to listen and comment, much appreciated.
And in the spirit of post-rock, this is an instrumental version of the track - it works pretty well as a post-rock instrumental just by removing the vocals:
Really good track Richard ! You install a really great ambiance here with well crafted and chosen sounds !
Not to say I see or look for any real "resemblance", which isn't interesting, but listening your song I immediatly though of "the mood" that I felt from 2 bands I used to listen to a lot when I was younger : Jesus And Mary Chain, and Toad The Wet Sprocket đ¤
Thanks! The Jesus and Mary Chain have been favourites of mine for decades, but Toad the Wet Sprocket are a new name to me, I'll check them out
Yeah I have a couple.
This one is in a post-rock style:
And this one is more ambient/downtempo:
There are versions of both of these with vocals, but they stand up well as instrumentals I think.
Thanks!
Really easy to listen to and relaxing. Liked the almost tape like sound. Seems to cut off a bit quick at the end. Thanks for sharing
Oh yes, someone else told me about the tail being cut off at the end, I've just fixed it - thanks for pointing it out đ
Donât really do genres, Indy / post-rock means nothing to me but I thought this was excellent.
Really enjoyed the variation in mood and pace. One of your best imho đ
Thanks for listening, you're very diligent when it comes to going back through the Creations section and digging up old threads. âĽ
