I think it is the roadmap login but I am not sure
I've come up empty with everything I've tried. No matter. I'll look into it further at another time.
@Michael ?
Ah yeah, I haven't put much effort into making that obvious yet because I don't really have good spam management stuff in place yet. If you follow the "Gear" link from within LP itself, it carries with it a token that lets you contribute without a login. Otherwise you can register at /register - but that link isn't anywhere yet.
It should probably use the LPF login system, but it was a quick-and-dirty side project.
Ha! Stop tempting him. Playtime with other things is over. 😂
(seriously though, how many people that would be likely to update anything are going to notice unless they see this discussion?)
Is this a bad time to suggest getting a "like" button for posts? I can imagine this could be difficult. But it would go a long way to improve relations with members. It would improve communications and a sense of belonging.
Plus it would be an excellent way for people to express their like of a track in the Creations section without the need for them to leave a comment.
Yes! I think a lot more people would be giving positive vibes using 'likes' because so often we don't have time to leave comments. 'Liking' is quick and easy, and builds community spirit.
But - who knows what that looks like on the coding side of things.
That's true to be fair. Not sure what Michael must do to implement the likes system.
Likes were tried for a while a long time back. It didn't go well and ended up being dropped. I don't remember why.
If I want likes then I go to Facebook and even then.
They weren't liked. LOL
😂

I'm trying to resist making the comment that a 'hate' button would maybe be better received 🤔😅
You just did. 👎
...lol! 😂 I can't keep a straight face. I'm just jokin around.
There are studies showing that the "likes" on social media increase positive social community:
"We find that experiencing little to no reaction from others does not only elicit negative emotions and stress amongst users, but also induces low levels of self-esteem. In contrast, receiving much positive online feedback, evokes feelings of social connectedness and reduces overall loneliness"

"findings demonstrate a process linking positive online social feedback and perceived well-being." https://sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0736585320301829#:~:text=Findings%20also%20suggest%20that%20posting,Andreassen%20&%20Pallesen%2C%202014).. Can’t be that. Nothing changed but the name.
Hi. Recently, I've noticed that the site can be very slow sometimes, for example on 02/11 1937, 02/10 1106, 02/09 2130, 02/04 0053 (dates US format, times GMT). Sometimes, after about 40 seconds, I see the attached. Other sites are fine at the same time. And the forum is fine most of the time also, it just has these bad moments. Is this a problem? Can it be improved?
Edit: Working fine now; cleaned up while I was posting.
Thanks @uncledave - @Michael is looking at it.
Ah, well this is why (last 30 days, unique visits):

I don’t gather much analytics data, so still digging around to figure out what’s going on.
Wow! So that's traffic? Maybe we're being scanned to add to an AI...
That would be over in a matter of minutes.
Theres no reason for a denial of service attack, so it has to be entities probing for exploits. It's a little surprising it shows in web traffic though.
Probably some new script-kiddie scanner out there going after Vanilla Forum vulnerabilities. It'll probably pass ... but not before causing Michael to pull out some hairs.
Not necessarily…I’ve had other AI scraper bots messing with the site over the course of days that I’ve eventually discovered and blocked.
Okay, I've enabled full caching at the CDN edge for non-logged in users, so it should drastically reduce load on the server.
Just noticed that when I click on a thread it takes me to the end of the page. Just started today. On iPhone.
So it's not just me. Yeah, instead of the forum going to the latest post, it goes to the very bottom of a page. Also on iPhone. Haven't noticed this issue on my iPad.
I've noticed this also, maybe for a couple of days. And it's not every thread. I've just had both experiences in different threads: open at the end, and open at the last viewed post. I am (always) logged in.
Update - Ever since today, this little bug has started happening on my iPad in Safari.
Interestingly, it goes to the bottom of the page containing the first unread post. Noticed this in a thread that had extended to a new page, but I saw the previous page, where I had last stopped reading. So, the latest tag does go to the correct page, just doesn't find the post.
