@Cinebient Ahhh you've got flash memory. I do envy you though. The Retina MacBook is a beast!

BTW I made a decision on Komplete. I decided to put Ultimate on hold for now and get Komplete 10 for $99. I spent the money I saved on upgrading Ableton Live to the full version. My free Lite version only gave me 8 tracks(!) to work with. I've only had it for less than a month because it came with my keyboard.

39 separate NI products with 12,000 sounds will keep me busy along with iOS. The good thing is that when I decide to upgrade to Ultimate 10 or 11 they deduct $100 for owning Komplete 10.

Yes... i just have the entree 15" 2.0Ghz i7 quadcore with 8GB ram (late 2013) but this thing can handle really a lot and i got it for a very good price. The included flash is super fast and this thing boots in the half time of my iPad Air. Only 2 USB is a bit of pain for me. I need 3.... better 4. I hate adapters. It has thunderbolt 2 but no way i use this expensive thing. I wonder if there are any hidden crossgrades possible if i have still some of their plug-ins. Sometimes you pay more than you need ;) I will have a deeper look at NI. Inreally began to love them lately :D

@ Cinebient It's $499 full price but that includes a lifetime of upgrades. I jumped from Komplete 5 to 10 for $99.

The crossgrade is $199 if you own one of these products:

KOMPLETE KONTROL S25-61, MASCHINE 2 software (included with MASCHINE STUDIO, and new purchases of MASCHINE and MASCHINE MIKRO), KONTAKT 1-5, REAKTOR 2-5, GUITAR RIG KONTROL 1-5 (but not LE, GO, XE, SESSION or other versions of GUITAR RIG).

So i could still buy the full Kontakt 5 for 124,50€ until the end of this months.....then i could upgrade further.....he he..... will there be an end (i mean not end of money)!

Now i saw i could even buy Kontakt 5 and then upgrade for further 199 bucks to Komplete 10....or even upgrade to Komplete 10 Ultimate for 399 bucks..... means for 524,50 i could go all in....... puh..... have to think about it. Lots of money but maybe worth. But how can i do it without the Mrs. Cinebient kills me? ; ) Time for some extra hours at work!

I think how much candy depends on the size of your stomach (hard drive). :)

  • The one it comes on is tiny in size, but carries a mighty meal, my desktop is ok, my laptop????? Munch it's hard drive it will. Just got the Mikro up and running, my fingers have been dancing a disco. Onto ultimate soon.....only problem, Mikro looks for some of the Komplete select plugs, haven't installed those yet.

  • Now i have to eat some M&M's..... and some means until the big pack is empty!

  • @knewspeak Wasn't aware of Mikro until you mentioned it. Damn it now I want that too! :) It looks like a lot of fun from the video.

    I wonder if I can get a crossgrade discount because I'm a Komplete user ..... :-)

  • @mkell424, Too much fun, got hooked and haven't yet installed ultimate, well at least it's not ruined my appetite. I got the crossgrade from Mikro to Ultimate, don't know about the other way, great idea from NI putting it on a drive, DVD's would have been bad, but downloading, wooooo..... Over 400Gb, frightening. These days a lot of laptops don't have DVD drives so the HD is a great idea. I'd have loved to have got the studio version, but I've already gone over budget, but worth ever penny. Only thing is when my little boy gets here tomorrow and sees all the colours on the Mikro and the sounds it makes I won't get a look in, then it will be two kids in the candy store. Mmmmm.... The land of chocolate.

    Worth every penny.

  • @knewspeak Your son is very lucky! I can't even imagine what it would be like to be a child and have access to an instrument like Mikro. You guys are going to make some beautiful music together. :)

  • Thanks guys, yep, my son is lucky, but then so am I, I've got him and such wonderful toys to share with him.

Ableton is also having a sale - 30% off Live and Push until Friday. You can upgrade to Live Standard for $265

  • Following on from this thread (but off-topic)

If anyone is looking to buy Ableton Live and the like check out their forum:
    https://forum.ableton.com/viewforum.php?f=43

It's legit to sell on a license and there are some really good offers there.

O.k. now i hate them ;) Can't use the new Cello library (sadly because people in V.I. forum raves about it as the very best virtual solo instrument ever) with my version of the Kontakt Player. The new is on the DVD as well but it seems to not overwrite the old version. Means i need do uninstall now the whole Kontakt 5 with all content since there seems no other way..... and even that will not work. Oh yeah..... iOS is really much easier in this cases. Good thing is i will save a lot money because no way i will try to install Komplete 10 ultimate with such trouble!
Edit: Solved.... seems to work with their latest update.... but not with the included on disc.... very strange!

  • @Cinebient That sucks when installers go bad. But why not release a product that works well instead of releasing a product that you have to update because it has bugs in it. This is true too if you are a gamer. Assassins Creed Unity needed a huge patch to make it work.

Yep.... the product itself runs now fine and it sounds awesome. All these articulations (over 50!) but it's strange that half of the patches runs in demo mode and require a newstart after 30 minutes. The other half works fine. I will see what the support can do. I will not wait some weeks or months for a fix..... the customer is king, not beta tester ;) I think the fault is on Kontakt Player's side. Installing and deleting things are really a lot easier in iOS.... but the golden cage.

has anybody heard anything about a new version of push coming out?

  • Wow, Komplete Ultimate, installed, updated, superb, but what a marathon, into the wee hours when finally everything was completed, now of to play some more, then take a rest 'hunting for freebie content', sorry to hear of the troubles you've had @Cinebient, but all those articulations, watched the video, awesome, expression like that was once just a dream, unless you could play the real instrument (to a high standard) of course.

  • So tempting. Have always like the sounds coming from Absynth, went to look what the sale price is and it says only sale price for an upgrade. Would cost me £169. Things is, I can get a cross-grade, because I won Reaktor 5, to Komplete 10. This costs... £169! Sorely tempted but not sure I want go back to desktop for producing noise just yet. £169 could get me a lot of synths on iOS.

  • Yes it is a lot of money, but the quality shines, plus lots of 3rd party goodies on offer, even quite a few free, I got a Mikro and Crossgrade to Ultimate, just over £500, always wanted to get it, so did, exceptional sound palette, a sonic wet dream. BTW my little boy loves the Mikro, think he's trying to become one with the Maschine, only chance I get to play is when he is knocking out zeds, which is now......shush....zzzZZZZ.

I actually think £169 for komplete 10 is a massive bargain but I am enjoying the freedom of writing music on an iPad away from the computer with all its distractions.

  • @Jocphone, I understand, I'm trying to get the best of both worlds.

Yes, it sounds awesome....but still not works as it should. If support can't solve i ask for refund. If i can't (due to activation) i'm doomed :( Mmhhhhh..... maybe i was going the wrong direction since it seem that i have now the same amount of trouble as in iOS. So when we really get Audio-Units on iOS i might turn back to it completly ;) I really get tired of beta software and bucks. At least on iOS it's cheaper to buy bugs :) In such moments i think to leave and sell the whole shit and start completly new in 1-2 years maybe if things getting better. It seems not my world anymore :(

one thing to keep in mind is that all of the software has made hardware so cheap these days i love it, but actually the price of hardware is creeping back up cause people are starting to catch on so get it while the getting is good!

Here is some great food to feed that hungry reaktor http://boscomac.free.fr

  • Thanks @mister_rz, I know of quite a few at the NI user library, but it seems the Kontakt, Absynth ones are down, the forum also mentions sharing Maschine projects, but it seems it hasn't really taken off, due to the limitless restrictions with regard to copyrighted material.
