KORG SPRING SALE - ALL APPS & SOFTWARE UP TO 50% OFF UNTIL APRIL 27th!

At $20, Gadget Pro is a nice selection of AUv3's for the money, even if you don't use the app per se.

Which modules come as auv3 with just the $20 purchase?

TBH I don’t remember which ones come baked in since it’s been so long since I got it. The only reference I could find says 20 gadgets are included. Of those, at least a couple drum modules and several good synthesizers. There are several gadgets that you get by purchasing other korg apps, and the great majority of those do not support AUv3, though Korg sort of implied that we might see more of those as AUv3’s in the future. And some of the IAP’s don’t have an AUv3, mainly because they wouldn’t make sense as an AUv3 (the midi output and the audio recorder, for example).

Gadget 3, Module Pro, Electribe Wave, and iM1 all include AUv3 plugins (Gadget includes 28 by my count, though several of those require an IAP within Gadget to work).

  • KORG Gadget is also 50% off on Nintendo Switch!

I’m very curious if anyone has tried this. Unless someone chimes in saying it’s awful I’ll end up getting it before the sale is over.

I bought it a while back really as an excuse to give Korg more money, but it's not brilliant - fewer gadgets, clunky to program on Switch, not much facility for playing anything in, ipad is pretty much as portable for on-the-go and with way better battery life... it's a valiant attempt and i truly salute Korg for trying something but it's probably the worst device to use it on.

That said, if i was a kid today and only had a Switch it would blow my mind how great it is, so ymmv.

It would definitely be purchased for the novelty more than functionality. Does it have any fun JoyCon implementation? Have you tried multiplayer? Is there any way to export songs? Could you see it being a fun party game?

I’m a sucker for quirky Nintendo junk - both hardware and software.

I didn't even dig deep enough to really answer your questions - just spent some time programming in handheld mode. I saw a girl on YouTube creating some good house music with it and getting some mileage out of motion controls but can't find it now. No idea about multiplayer. Definitely no export - i looked into this at the time and it was a bugbear among users. I'd say it's too slow and clunky to be much of a party game - but I guess that depends on what kind of parties you have ;)

There's a spreadsheet that I created with details on the Korg Gadgets a while back in the post below. It has not been updated with the Osaka gadget info yet. It shows which Gadgets are included and which ones are IAP's, and which ones are available as Gadgets if you have Korg Module.

Downloaded this and it’s been sitting on my home screen for a bit. I only just realized the double entendre here. Despite the toilet paper icon.

My understanding is the knob's pixels are each hand-coded to minimize the phase curdling that is introduced at the output stage by the low-damper crosshatching found in conventional virtual volume knobs. You'll need a photon-reversed USB-C cable treated with argon disambiguate to really notice the difference.

    Looks kinda slick though…

Actually, is there an app that acts as one big knob?
