I don’t think he specified which regulations his designed failed as he mentions both CE (EU) and
the FCC (US) so it may have been one or the other or both. Not really fair just to blame the EU.

  • That looks really interesting and very nicely designed. Science and technology at it's best. 🔬🧠❤️ Not sure the price, 400 Euro is something I could afford but if I could, no doubt I'd get one. Signed up for the newsletter. ✌️

@Pxlhg, No, that may have come across wrong. Sorry, English is not my native language. I mean that I want to contribute to post information that is interesting to help others how others help me.

Also, it seems important that a device passes electromagnetic compatibility tests, right?

Exactly, the master clock signal electromagnetic emission was slightly too high. We didn‘t expect that, as we made some tests before…

Any update on ETA? I see the certs have now been met! @Marf

The test devices did not meet my expectations in terms of surface quality, so I had to request another batch. Hopefully, I will receive 6 final test samples in mid-January. I want to make sure that everything is perfect as expected. If everything fits, mass production will start immediately. They should finally be available in March. I'm sorry it's taking so long, I'm not happy about it either.

We appreciate your attention to detail @Marf, and are happy to wait until everything is perfect. So excited!!

When the time comes, will you ship to Canada?

Thanks, yes, we plan to ship worldwide ... everyone on our mailing list will be informed as soon as you can order. Just yesturday, I've sent the final production data to the fab... The firmware is evolving too... be surprised.

  • This one is finally close to release (cut from email):

    "Final production begins

I'm thrilled to finally announce that we will be kicking off the final production of the first batch within the next few days. I recently received the latest prototypes and I'm happy to report that they meet all requirements — so I've now placed the order for a larger production run.

Unfortunately, we didn't quite make it in time to open pre-orders for this year's Superbooth. An external issue caused yet another delay of over two months, and on top of that, several components became temporarily unavailable. I never imagined things would take this long, and had I known, I would have waited to introduce the MAT 16X8 later. But now we're really moving — and pre-orders will be available through online retailers very soon. I'll send out another newsletter with a direct link as soon as that goes live.

Thank you so much for your patience, and a huge thank you to everyone who has supported this project in so many different ways."

  • Well done. I hope it does well.

  • Congrats on the launch!! I've been eagerly refreshing this thread, and it looks like I subscribed to the mailing list twice 😂 superfan over here.

Unfortunately with shipping, and anticipating duties/taxes, it comes out just shy of $1000CAD. Hard to be patient, but I'll wait a bit longer and order through a local shop.

  • @Marf said:
I'm really thrilled with all the feedback. Let me just clarify two points that are perhaps a little misleading in the video:

    • It is currently designed for audio signals. The level range is between -2.5V and +2.5V and the outputs are DC-coupled. So, CV control is also possible, but that's more of a nice additional side effect. The inputs are not DC-coupled. However, I am planning a later hardware addition for Eurorack levels that can be clipped between the upper and lower boards.

Looking forward to this expansion for improved eurorack compatibility!

  • @Marf I can't tell from its description... does the conversion go both ways? Can the headphone jack monitor the computing device? It looks like that may be the case, but it's not entirely clear.
