@GeertBevin thanks again for the update... all seems really solid on both iPhone and iPad. Two small requests if you do an update again:
The BPM changes back to 120 every time I change a preset. If i'm working on a track at say 130 then this is really annoying because as I move around presets I have to keep manually changing the BPM back (which is fiddly and I forget). Can't seem to find a way to fix it - be good if there was (like you can the scale)
The 4 track recorder lets you copy a single piece of audio out to audiocopy, but you can't mix down the whole track and copy this to the clipboard - (only to SoundCloud). This is a little annoying because I like using the 4 track recorder to build a sub 10 second set of Animoog samples, that I then copy into Gadget's AbuDhabi... So "mixdown" to audiocopy would be great...
Loving Animoog though... and looking forward to any future Moog apps - bound to be amazing...
Matt, you can set Animoog to sync to incoming MIDI clock. I usually run it slaved to Loopy HD so that presets stay BPM synced.
@GeertBevin Now that I have more timbre packs I've started to experiment a bit more...
Would it be possible in some future version of Animoog to allow 'stepping' or 'jumping' (with optional cross fade and time) to different points in the grid instead of just 'gliding' between the points using the 'path'?
I know this is 'wave-sequencing territory' but it would greatly expand the possibilities, imagine making a 'wave-table' with various timbres (optionally with independent transpose) that are synced to tempo (new 'timbre' every 'timing-interval'). The 'wave-tables' would also make it quite easy to make Animoog 'speak' (using the vowel timbres together with some others) or make some nice rhythmic loops.
I just wish I'd bought some of the timbres earlier as they bring new life into Animoog
Thanks, yes that's a workaround I guess. I don't usually have a clock running though... I just play along in time with Gadget running in the background and record bits and bobs that sound good. One shots and FX stuff normally... Collect few of those up into a sub-10 second "project" in the 4 track recorder then (ideally) paste into Abu Dhabi... although at the moment i'm having to audiobus it out to audioshare first.
I forgot to say, yes i would also love to see an internal BPM lock, same as the current scale lock, which is great.
I also have to agree with those who have mentioned the real beauty of Animoog is going beyond the stock presets. I heard it mentioned this week that Animoog has a distinct recognizable sound. But to me that is only in the stock presets. If you take time to adjust and tweak you can really do amazing things.
Yeah I like that one. The editing video links are useful though, so I'll be doing some homework tonight.
I know the priority is now on the new stuff and I think that's awesome and how it should be. So this next thing is not a request it's just a thought I want to share. I never used the accelerometer as a mod source in Animoog but I probably would if it was possible in the iPhone version. The gyro stuff in general makes more sense on the iPhone in my opinion. I shake my iPhone for vibrato in ThumbJam all the time but I never shake my iPad.
@firejan82 you could run TC-Orbiter or MidiMe (both use accelerometer) in the background on your iPhone and point at Animoog's midi learn. More setting up, but would have the same effect.
That would be cool. Or at least adjustable crosfade time between timbres, from hardstepping to smooth fades (like the 'Blending' setting in PPG Wavegenerator).
Thanks for the update @GeertBevin
It seems you can only have one midi input activated at the same time, I'd like for an option to enable more so more than 1 controllers/keyboard can be used at the same time. That and more extensive midi learn so that you can assign controls for the x/y pad unless I'm missing a way to do that already?
midi learn for everything would be great even changing presets etc.
many thanks
also +1 for being able to assign a clock source separate from the channel source.
Ps great news about potential new Moog apps
I guess the bpm is set for individual presets because of their effects, such as the delay time etc, so they sound in-sync as an individual preset. A choice to set it would be good!
Timbre mixing is (1) of the next steps after previewing, if you want to. Some may only have the ability to go as far as presets. And then there's those who create their own. I myself am quite adventurous and like to test everything, even if it's only once.. Some people are not so advanced as others.
Everybody's talented at something..
People do different things. This is good!
Hehe ;-)
@Matt_Fletcher_2000 Excuse the n00b etc. Where is this random button in which you find the FullJoy?
Perhaps he meant random preset. I went to look for the random button also after reading that comment. Some kind of morphing between presets could be fun though.
Settings > Presets >
Setup/ presets/ random preset
For those looking for different timbres, check out the free BASE pack (bottom of store list).
It's got weird timbres which are a good addition to the more traditional ones.
Cool tip with the random setting, thanks! Can anyone explain how it works? When I choose a pack and hit random it does get very interesting . The random sounds are not presets are they? It sounds more like the morphing feature I was just mentioning because I do not recall these as stock presets.
Ok it does indeed take timbres randomly from various packs and morph them . This feature tip just made Animoog even more interesting . It does create soundscape sounds very nicely often times I agree. Thanks again for making my day a bit better!
I missed the BASE pack when it was released for one day on 1st april a few years ago. Glad they made these fart sounds available again.
Damn a new free pack even?! This day just keeps on getting better! I missed tha one fireman, thanks!
Thanks for the explanation of the random (full) joy. I don't know how long it will last, but after 15 mins of fiddling about I'm in that dangerously high place of promising myself 'Oh yeah, SOTMC for July baby, right here....' Ridiculous that this was one of the first apps I ever bought but never figured this out. Wonderful actually. Now.
Good Times!
My thoughts exactly
Thanks again MOOG team for the updates to animoog AND filtatron!
For Realz, big up Moog! :-)
Yeah thanks, the random setting I'd never used before, very cool... now I'd like that to be midi-learned too
There are indeed on the list of possible future enhancements.
You can already do that, when you activate MIDI Learn and go to X/Y pad page, you'll see two MIDI learnable boxes appear.
Added this to the list of potential future enhancements.
Thanks for the suggestions!
Thanks a lot for the ideas, I've made note of them and will discuss them with the rest of the team.
Very good suggestions, we already had number 2 on our list, I made note of number one also.
Hi. When I push "Buy for 0,00 €" the text becomes blue for a while, but it looks to do nothing else (IAP enabled). When back one screen it still shows 0,00 €, not "Purchased".
What I'm doing wrong?
EDIT: Solved. Maybe a temporary connection problem.
@GeertBevin Small suggestion for the Random button:
Give an option to only randomize the timbres and pathway. In other words make it so it keeps the envelopes and mods, the delay settings, the drive settings, and all the others settings, but then randomizes the timbres and the pathway.
Seems like most times you use the random button you don't get any sound, and then you have to go and adjust things like the envelopes and the filter, etc.
