This sounds cool @elasticdrums ! I have a couple of questions - sorry if they’ve been asked before, search can be difficult here.
    1) is this based on a similar mutable instruments library as the synths available in the Spectrum synthesizer bundle app? I have liked the sounds there in the past but found the app to be unreliable at times. I heard pretty similar sounds so that’s cool.
    2) will the current app become Mac compatible at some point? I’m starting to use a Mac for music production too, and if the same elastic osc app will be available as a Mac app I would get it now and mess around with it - but I wouldn’t want to buy it twice.

    Thanks!

    1. This is based on Rings, which Spectrum also has. Spectrum is based on the old version of Rings with 16 oscillator types. Elastic Osc is based on the later version of Rings with 24 oscillators
    2. If I understand correctly, it will be available for Mac, but will be a separate purchase, though probably a reasonably priced one

It's based on plaits (the spectrum au in the bundle), I think, which has an algo, that's like a reduced rings.

RingsFX on the other hand is based on rings.

Ah ok, thnx! Haven’t used Spectrum in a long time as I was never mad about the UI. Great app though, soundwise, and amazing that it’s free

Just to be clear, Plaits itself is not a reduced rings, but one of its algorithms is.

  • Great, thanks!

  • Elastic OSC update 1.0.4 is out now !

    • New presets by Leonard de Leonard
    • AUv3 resizing improvement: App is now scrollable
    • AUv3 / Plugin Mode: Updated parameter names
    • Improved Randomization Presets
    • Bugfix Logic Pro: Recording automation
    • Bugfix Drambo: XY dragger did not update
    • iPhone Screen Orientations: Left & right

  • Sweet! @elasticdrums I have been using EO a ton. Probably my most used synth because of how fast I can dial up a wide range of sounds. It's the perfect tool for sketching out a song.

Thanks. That's great to hear :)

  • Agreed! This update is ace. Elastic Osc is not my goto synth for all sort of sounds. It’s so quick to get sound going and between the arp & the envelope & the lpg controls it’s so quick to morph things too. It’s really fun. Great work here.

This was probably the update that broke all of the projects I had going with it 🥴👊

lol no worries, I just need to get in the habit of committing things to audio. Just in case these kinds of things happen.

    Yea, I am sorry :(
I think it's the changes in the parameters, which were a bit wild before name wise (Frequency 3 times and so on).

I already told another person. If you want to save your old project:
Get a TestFlight beta tester (https://testflight.apple.com/join/QqLSRGOz) and install the previous version 1.0.3.
Then the project should work again. So you can backup your preset settings etc.

  • Ooh! @elasticdrums that’s a great idea! I’m going to try exactly that! Thanks 🙂

That saved a project for me too! Thank you! 🙏

Good to hear! Unfortunately there is not much I can do, unless I would offer the old Parameter names together with the new ones, which would probably lead into great chaos and more unknown problems programming wise.
Wasn't aware of the fact that some hosts kick out an AUv3 from a saved project, if the expected parameter names (stored parameter mapping) are not available anymore.
