Since @egobeats shared mode circle, a cool free app, I’m inspired to share a few free music apps that are useful. I’ve mentioned all of these before at some point but things get lost in the shuffle.
Some Free & Interesting Music Apps!
Music Wand - a motion based synthesizer
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/music-wand/id1515573809
Playtonik - music fidget toy, really cool with midi out
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/playtonik/id6738356927

Waver - Data Over Sound - send messages through audio waves, audible or ultrasound
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/waver-data-over-sound/id1543607865
Last But not Least…. This is a hidden gem. I’ve mentioned it a couple times but it’s had several updates and has improved. It is very useful for generating/semi-generating multi-channel midi songs. When generating new parts, Be sure to lock Chords/Bass/Melody if you do not want them to change when you change one of the other parts. Changing one part will affect the others unless locked. This does not apply to the drums. You can tap in drum parts now, change sounds, pick key, etc…. To export midi, save, then go to saved tracks and export. Enjoy!

Thanks for Loop Maker! Pretty cool app!
Are any of the Bleass synths on sale particularly good?
Definitely. I really like it. That and Chordi are great apps for making MIDI.
Found another lil niche app that may not resonate with anyone here, but I enjoy listening and watching birds, and there’s a new touchscreen, loop generative scene audio generator type thing of bird songs. Imagine the Teraverse ui with bird sounds.
No connectivity, but free and cathartic ( for me)
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/birdsnest/id858342657
Chordi is pretty cool. But the screen gets cut off on my iphone 12 pro max.
Thanks, picked that up to check out. iPad for regular music production now, but phone is Android. Not expecting a lot given no real integration support between apps, but something to try.
100%. If you want just essential controls, go with Alpha, but if you like to tweak and want loads of modulation, go for Megalit. I’ve seen a lot of attempts & I think Omega is the easiest & fastest multi-operator FM synth out there. All three are very touch oriented, & the usability is, for me, the gold standard.
This one sounds interesting...unfoutunately it's not available in Sweden...
A bit ironic really since it says "BirdsNest is an iPad-instrument recalling the forest sounds of a Northern Swedish summer."

The Streetlytron '63 Edition : genuine Mellotronics for your iPhone and iPad.
Brought to you in partnership with Streetly Electronics, the inventors of the mellotron, Streetlytron includes a massive collection of 63* tapes from Streetly's Production Masters - exactly the same tapes that ship with their $8,000 M4000 unit.
Playable with the on-screen 3 octave keyboard or by an attached MIDI controller, Streetlytron exposes every internal control to MIDI, allowing performance and recording without ever needing to touch your device. A gorgeous, silky-smooth, ultra-musical reverb unit generates immense spaces, and 8 programmable preset slots set you up for one-touch performance. Totally playable and totally inspiring, for everything from classic psychedelic, vintage progressive, modern chamber pop or avant-garde dance sounds.
Virtual MIDI and AudioBus, with Inter-App Audio support provided by AudioBus.
No In-App Purchases, no hidden extra costs. Pay once, never pay again.
To keep this remarkable app as small as possible, the in-app samples are recorded at minor third intervals, and most in-app samples are looped for continuous play, with a loop duration of 5 seconds. This results in almost 5x reduction in app size**, yet has virtually no audible difference between this '63 Edition and the top-of-the-range Streetlytron Pro Edition. Sample replay within the app uses an advanced cubic spline interpolator, to delivery premium sonic quality.

Big text at the start says the app is no longer supported. So I suppose this is in the Free Legacy Release genre we've been seeing lately (and I'm all for!)
Edit: after a quick check, all their synths are legacy free
Sweet find!
Any differences between this and the Pro version? Both are free?
The Streetlytron apps became free in June 2024, when their creator stopped maintaining them. The Pro version is much larger, 1720 MB installed. There are longer samples and quite a few added instruments.
I highly recommend Sopranotron 2 as it's my favorite in that series, but I like vox sounds a lot. Also free, also unsupported, works great as IAA and universal.

Reverse Video - No unlock it’s just available to use pro apparently

@Gavinski s video is really great timing. I can't praise his 40 minute deep dive on Silo enough though. It thoroughly impressed me and I haven't stopped playing with it yet.
I'm really enjoying slapping it onto Stria, I pulsaret, Burns Audio (grain) resonator, along with AnalogyGR, Ridgewalk/Waymaker. Basically whatever granular stuff that that's not insanely high DSP.
Several people in the comments mentioned how they were unaware of some of the features/ modes available. I was hooked after hearing his example at the 20 minute mark.
My goal for the weekend was to somehow incorporate Silo, GRFX, Poly Delay in apesofts apps and it has been tremendous fun.
Now that Gav has lined up all the UA iOS sales/fx plugins, I am better informed on what I want and what I can pass on. I like all the little extras that unfiltered Audio incorporates. They are all reactivee, so it's not like you're sitting there knobbing without any significant sound variants.
SILO is my absolute favorite
Anybody messed with any of these Sketch Audio apps (galaxy brain, doctor vibe, fuzz droid, etc)? Their releases slipped under my radar, but am intrigued 🤔
I've heard Galaxy Brain on several AU's and thought it was impressive. Not 15 dollar impressive, but impressive.
The only ones I would encourage buying would be Blip Box and Phase Monkey.
They both are capable of some deep sounds and I always viewed BlipBox as an affordable alternative to FAC Drumkit, but doubt anyone would share that opinion.
In my region all Drambo IAP went up 50 %.
They are still $6.99 in the States but that might be changing soon, or could be region specific. Thanks for the heads up.
They all have a free two week trial so you could download one or several to try them out and decide by the time the sale ends. If you like.
Sketch Audio Sale is through September 11th.
Auv3s?! With DEMOS?!? haha, thankya kindly, will definitely try them out
