@eross have you turned on sound module mode? You haven’t shown that screen. Are you sending notes on channel 10 which is what it listens to by default?
it was the channel. even though drambo said all midi channels. once I changed it to channel 1 it worked 👍🏻

Try the MIDI learn function...simply press the action (under the MIDI section) and then press the control on the controller you want to run it (ensuring T/Rx channels match)...Notes seem to work better than CCs.

Any idea when we’ll be able to send grooves from other Lumbeat drummers to Pop Drummer?
Watch out for octave numbers!
I ran into an issue but worked it out. For some midi controls (switch hats and ride) I had to send a midi note an octave below what was specified (this is in Loopy Pro, so may vary). That's normal...
But I was testing out the switching of live pads using an octave below with no success. I actually had to send an octave above, so C2 instead of C1 for the first pad etc

votes are 4-3...I voted in favor of ALL the apps to AUv3 - that, to me, is far more important and those wanting to just send beats will be able to that then too. Everybody wins! Some just need a little patience!
I’d rather see the full Lumbeat system in tact with cross app functionality before getting auv3 for all the others. Sharing grooves is the biggest selling point for me so I’m fine waiting for auv3 and working with clunky IAA for now. This also gives time to work out AUv3 bugs in Pop Drummer before bringing it to other drummers.
Patience can go either way on this one. To me we’ve waited this long for AUv3, just be patient until Pop Drummer is less buggy and can receive grooves from other Lumbeat drummers.
Really not sure what the big deal is sending grooves from other drummers is tbh?? For me, each app stands on its own, with its own uniqueness....There are sooooo many beats in each app with variability and programming.
No, sorry, but all the apps to AUv3 is the way to go....PLUS it gives far more opportunity for LM to maintain profitability as he will generate income from the AUv3 in IAP....he gets nothing from rushing to put in a spurious update like sending a groove from one Lumbeat to another (iBassist excluded)
I am thinking those wanting the send groove thing are banding together (what few there are) to be the "squeakiest wheel" and are using "pester power" to get what they want.
The big deal is doing fusion style grooves. Building on top of existing grooves between genres is a lot of fun. Making a song that starts with rock drummer centric grooves mixed with Indian Drummer and having them all transition into playing something driven by Hip Hop drummer feels very creative.
Again, I’d rather see AUv3 implemented properly across the board than be rushed. It seems to be working fairly well in Pop Drummer, but also lots of bug updates since it’s early on in release. More AUv3 in other apps is a lot more bugs to fix. Putting AUv3 on everything out the gate is rushing - implementing functionality that’s been a staple of the Lumbeat apps since the beginning seems like a stable implementation.
Who else is even squeaking? Unless it’s a lot more talk on the FB group, I think solely me saying I’d rather Send Grooves between drummers is nowhere near the amount of pestering there was to implement AUv3, and especially not as much as the subscription mode.
All said I’d rather see core functionality I’ve come to expect be implemented than having a rush to put AUv3 on everything. Still, AUv3 would be very welcomed. As long as both are implemented down the road I’m happy.
I wasn't interested in this initially because of the subscription thing.. but I jumped into the App Store, checked it out, was impressed and purchased the full version which was a one-off purchase almost immediately.
I could tell within about 10 seconds flat that this was exactly the drum app I need/want for live use, and it's already doing what I need it to.
It's giving me the basic bread and butter beats that I need, as a live performer that does 3-4hr covers gigs multiple times every week as my primary source of income, with a slew of kits. They all sound usable through my PA as well (testing at home before tonights gig).
I haven't set up a midi controller and mapped everything out yet, but even just using the touch screen to do what I want, this is beyond fantastic.
I'm able to just set the tempo where I want it, pick a beat that'll roughly fit the songs I want to do (let's be real, as a live performer.. you only need 5-6 drum beats and you're good.. just re-use them, nobody cares, it's fine).. and I can use the toggle hats/snare buttons basically as a chorus.
I know there's song mode, but idc about that atm - it's cool to just hit a button ie toggle hats, and the beat has a bit more life to it, works perfectly for a chorus, hit it again to bring in the verse, done. Having fills be set to kick in automatically is great, as is the ability to add them in whenever I want - plus, I'm a big fan of the count-in button.
I wouldn't use that for every song, I'm fine with having some songs just start with the beat and I'll go from there - I'm a solo act so there's no pressure to be 100% ready to go right away anyway..
This is just awesome. What a beast of an app. Maybe the other Lumbeat drummers behave the same way, idk, all I know is this one in particular is freaking perfect for someone like me that does mostly pop/rock/americana-ish covers in pubs/bars for a living. I'll absolutely be getting a load of use out of this.
At some point, I'm going to want to add it to Loopy Pro or sync with my 600 or whatever, so I can use these beats + lay down my own bass lines etc and use it with loops.
I'll also want to see if it's possible to use PopDrummer as an instrument and not just a machine ie trigger the kit with a midi controller. If so, then that would instantly add a handful of great sounding kits to my repertoire.
But honestly, I'm more interested in the part where I DON'T play the drums at all, and just use this as a drum machine.
I'm straight up in love with this already.
Will definitely be giving it a whirl at tonights gig just to add beats behind a handful of songs for the last 2 sets.
I've been hunting a drum machine app like this for a while now so I feel like.. a sense of relief knowing that that box is ticked - I can 100% just select the tempo, choose from a few basic beats that are actually practical ones that fit most songs I'd cover, and play the songs.

For those curious on the poll results, AUv3 implementation won out over sending grooves.
My vote would be Hip-Hop drummer as first up for AUv3.

Agreed. I was team Groove but like I said, I’m excited that these apps are getting so much attention from both the dev and the community.
Reporting back after my last post - used PopDrummer at a gig last night for the last set, worked like an absolute charm.
Extremely basic implementation of it - all I did was pick a beat that sounded along the right lines based on the name, set the tempo and hit play.
So no stop/starts or any real dynamics was attempted - it was a quiet-ish night, so it was perfect to just give it a shot through my PA for a small audience and see how it went.
Exceeded my expectations. Can’t wait until I’ve got a little time to work with it at home and see if I can get a cool midi controller action happening with it to control some things + I’d love to work it into either a Loopy Pro setup or have my RC-600 synced to it.. don’t have time to mess with this until like Monday though as I’m gigging straight through ‘til then without much downtime.
Still - the kits sounded great at full volume, and the beat presets are fantastic because they aren’t all over the shop - there’s some solid bread and butter ones, I mean most of the beats in the “straight 8ths” section will work for what I do.
Definitely impressed with how it went, even when used in an incredibly basic “set tempo, pick beat, press play” format without any verse/chorus dynamics.
There was one thing at last nights gig that sucked, and it wasn’t PopDrummer’s fault BUT it got me thinking on something.
I set the tempo to a song in SongbookPro - just so that for future performances, the tempo would be visible so I can easily set PopDrummer to it without having to google tempo etc and idk, was just experimenting with Songbook Pro - I could have just written the tempo in as an edit, but I wanted to see if I could just set the metronome to the tempo and save that.
Which I can, issue is it immediately started playing a click/metronome through the PA. Not ideal but whatever.
Anyway, it made me wonder if there’s a way to sync Songbook Pro with PopDrummer?
If there is a way to have it so I can swap songs in Songbook Pro, where I’ve already input tempo data.. and have that sync over to PopDrummer.. that would mean all I need to do is switch songs, and PopDrummer would adapt to the new tempo?
That would be awesome.
It would be even cooler if I can do that + have it so PopDrummer switches beats/kits to whatever I’ve set as well, though I might be going a bit far with this.. I feel like it’s all possible though?

There’s gotta be a way to do this. I would imagine it’s possible to do that with a pretty standard midi controller implementation as well, where the above happens + I can control each song with fills/toggle hats/snare etc on the fly.

I have loopy pro set up to switch the preset in pop drummer and set the tempo (lp loads pd as an auv3). I have an ever growing page of buttons for each song I do in LP with these settings.
I also have songbook pro but haven’t integrated it at all. I wish there was a way to have LP tell songbook what song to load.

According to the manual, Songbook can send a MIDI event on song load. It looks like you should be able to send a Bank Select + Program Change to load a pattern or song or preset and since you can save the tempo in Pop Drummer, you should be able to have all that work the way you need it to with the right settings.
The details of how to do that depend on whether you're using Pop Drummer standalone or in a host, and if so, which host.
I don't have the Songbook app to help figure that out, but hopefully it'll point you in the right direction.
[edit] actually, the manual only mentions sending and receiving from hardware pedals, I can't say if there's support for sending midi to other apps.

Send groove in AUv3 would be awesome. I’d think first thing to do would be get Pop Drummer and iBassist sending grooves as AUv3 since they already have AUv3 functionality.
