Hi Luis
I just downloaded Pop Drummer from the App Store and got an error message when I attempted to subscribe to the annual subscription. I also noticed that the subscription price was in euros , although I am located in the US.
Hopefully this glitch can be fixed soon
Weird - there’s no mention of subscription in the App Store description - and also showing no IAPs… if I bought this just now I’d think it would be full access to the app?
Downloaded in UK. Just shows with Get button. No subscriptions or IAP listed or mentioned. Cannot find any option to subscribe in app. App allows preset saving and runs as AU without prompting for subscription or IAP purchase.
Kinda wish they announced the subscription model when they announced the auv3. Was highly anticipated, now completely underwhelmed…
Does this mean all the other drummers are switching to sub too?
no info about subscription on the apple.com website...

Most of the kits and patterns are greyed out for me. They prompt for a sub when I click them.
Had just played with the initial beats - do have greyed out below the top 2 on each one. Clicking them initially did nothing - just stayed on the selected patch. Reinstalled just now. Now if I click those I get a prompt to subscribe appear.
Oddly, the subscription shows as €1.99 per year...
Direct to trash when I notice it’s another subCRAPtion app — unless there’s a one-shot purchase option, even at a high price.
First spin with Pop Drummer AUv3 in Cubasis 3 (together with Animoog Z):
Too bad it is only subscription, would love the one-payment option ☺️🙏
That €1.99 / year is the kind of level I can get behind for single purpose apps, over ten years that’s only twenty notes and may hopefully let the developer work on updates/improvements etc
Looking at the monthly cost, I think it was meant to read €19.99.
Might be a typo I think it is actually €19.9 per year since normal price per year is €48 and it clearly says €1.67 per month which is €20,04 (save 58%)
Subscriptions. I think I’ll pass.
.
Same, canceled the download. lol
Ahh @LuisMartinez you went the subscription route knowing the heat you’ll get! Never an easy decision. May your boat float on these stormy waters.
I clicked Annual Sub just to see what the actual cost is but there’s an error and it won’t load.
[edit: ok, well, it was JUST doing it, I paused the beat, came here to post, hit play, hit the dice, and the popup just came up.... Color me confused]
If you want to sample other kits and rhythms in the meantime:
Click the dice next to New Groove on the upper right for randomize
It picks from everything, not just what's available without sub 🤷
(greyed out options when tapped bring up the subscription popup)
For me, without subscription, it allows saving user kits and modifications when in the standalone app. Those can then be called up in AUv3.
If I modify and try saving whilst in the AUv3 it prompts for a subscription - so behaves differently standalone vs AUv3.
Wow, as an owner of all but 1 of the lumbeat apps….this is such a downer. No mention on the app page of subscriptions or IAPs. A probable misprint of the cost in app as I tried to access the 1 year €1.99 subscription but it said product not available. I really hope there’s a one time purchase option when this is fixed. I hate subscriptions.
No subscription apps for me.
Sorry @LuisMartinez .
Make it a one time payment plz.
Hi! we’ve seen the subscription error and the euro pricing glitch, and we’re already fixing them. Will be available very soon.
We’ve spent over a year rebuilding Pop Drummer from the ground up to bring you AUv3 support.
With a subscription, we can keep the app alive, constantly updated, and improving, while also working to bring our other drum apps to AUv3 in a sustainable way. Otherwise, it just wouldn’t be possible.
This change means more updates, more features, and more features for you.
Thanks again for the feedback and for understanding!
You’re right, and that’s probably more realistic.
$48/year is what shows as the non discount sub price. That’s $2 shy of Logic Pro which comes with session drummers.
I imagine I’ll get this one when the IAP is available but if every new Lumbeat app after this is the same price I’ll have to start picking and choosing which ones to get.
Twenty beans A MONTH? Lol. Guess it’s time to really learn Drum Perfect Pro.
It’s $4/month, $48/year, and I’m assuming an intro price of $24/year according to the IAP popup.
You MUST have a subscription to get the AUV3 support!
which will keep rising as they always do, and with AUv3 support only available with a subscription, it's a nasty way to do business! Make what SHOULD be an intrinsic component only available via a subscription!
With an ecosystem like this, I’d rather see it go a route like Gadget - make one big Lumbeat brain app that acts as a hub. Keep releasing individual drummers as standalone apps that unlock use in the Hub app. Make the Hub app a one time purchase with an AUv3 subscription if there has to be a subscription somewhere.
That might be a bit convoluted but with a library already this robust it would tie the apps all together and bring AUv3 functionality to older Lumbeat drummers.
Well that’s me sort of cured of my Lumbeat addiction then. If there was a one-time unlock, I would have brought this on sight, but subscription is a hard pass.
I would somewhat understand if the subscription was instead some type of Lumbeat AUv3-host, as already mentioned in the post above, where one could load all the various Lumbeat drummers one has purchased in the subscription-AUv3…
But now it feels like all the other apps, like the promised AUv3 for Reggae Drummer, will also just become subscription-based when finally getting AUv3…
Some developers are sadly so out of touch with the music making community and prefer listening to what Apple wants/demands…
It is only when Apple started being very aggressive with wanting apps to be subscription-based that developers started claiming there is no other way than subscription.
“Otherwise, it just wouldn’t be possible.” yet the earlier one-payment model obviously worked since Future Drummer is 8 years old & Brazilian Drum Machine is 10 years old…
Lifetime subscriptions on planned obsolescence devices! 😅 👎
Ah, okay. Thought I saw that number upstream, thank you. Learning DPP well still seems like a better, long term option.
