Very interesting, I usually do the opposite - PolyBud makes nice, “drunken” basslines.
FRMS also works as a live audio processor but by some design quirk it can't play back grains at the same pitch as the incoming audio - this is down to how grain pitch is the result of the mysterious interaction between:
If anyone has solved this mystery please do share how!
GRFX just added a randomizer button and my iPad is spiking to max everytime I press it.
Kaleidoscope is an absolutely brilliant midi farter though. The sounds I get out of her are pretty intense. I'm really fortunate to have it in my arsenal. I was really big on GRFX, really love the UI and how it works with your signal- extremely diverse. Whoever cited Borderlands as a playground is spot on with that analogy- it does things none of my other granulars can do and the SeNder (IAA) is actually pretty solid. That said- I believe it is abandoned, outside of the occasional banger sales.
I appreciate tips and tricks comments like this- I just tried with a single instance of Madrid in PolyBud on ch.1 and ch.2 I always associate bass with monophonic output. It's nice not having to load up multiple instances of the AuV
I still think feeding MelodyBud's input to AutoBass is something special. I have a few bass generators, but always go back to AutoBass.
@craftycurate i didn’t know FRMS had that function. I’ll have to give it a whirl, will update if any knowledge is gleaned
@egobeats couldnt find SeNder in the shop, mind sharing a link? Also I’m sure it was a typo but “midi farter” gave me a good chuckle, especially in regards to kaleidoscope. I’m an adult!
@Squishy my bad, when you connect Borderlands through IAA it shows as "sender" sorry I worded that weird.
Haha, it’s all gravy! 🤙
A granular mega thread would be nice. There's so many interpretations and variants of the granular processing. I always held apesoft as the herald of Grains, but I no longer feel that way

That's wassup. I recall people speaking highly of it.
I bought ShockWave a few weeks ago (it seems like the apps randomly went on sale, just not all in one go like now). I really like all of its preset sounds, very thick and playable leads and bass. Lots of weird sequencing and maths stuff that I haven't had time to explore. But it certainly feels unique compared to your bread-and-butter juno-style synths that are everywhere.
This is by a famous virtuoso guitarist. It’s a practice plus creativity rhythm training tool. Probably good for anyone
I only skimmed the description in an attempt to get a basic understanding. Appreciate the clarification.

One thing it made me wish for is that Riffler would have the same rhythm displacement function.
I've been watching/listening to Tom Quayle for a long time now. He is a beast of a guitar player and seems an all round pretty cool dude. He also made the Solo app. So now he has 2 pretty serious music apps under his name. Generally he seems to go hand in hand with quality music tools.
I think it’s the best sounding of the three phase distortion synths on IOS. I’m a pretty big fan of it, and it sounds like hardware .
I’m a fan of Agonizer too…it’s funny cause it was marketed as a bass synth but it’s actually really good for experimental music too
