Hmmmm… was this really necessary? Anonymous or not, can’t say I’ve ever been a fan of trackers, even if they’re claimed to be innocent. Maybe I’m misunderstanding what was implemented
Is there a way to opt out of the transmission of my data?
Absolutely. If an iOS app tracks anything it has to provide a popup message for you to authorize it. If you miss the popup, you can go to
iOS Settings > Privacy > Tracking. There you can turn off the ability for any apps to track, or enable/disable individual apps permission.@LuisMartinez
I'm surprised (dismayed!) to find that the trackers indicated in the App Store don't line up with what you said.

The one on the left is information that can be used to sell "anonymous" tracking data linked to one's device to 3rd parties for marketing purposes. That goes beyond just understanding how users interact with the app.
I've checked my Tracking app list and Pop Drummer (1.0.5) is not there. I'm also pretty sure that PD didn't show me any popup about tracking.
I don't know what to say about that. It's definite that the trackers are in the app. Did you load the standalone app since the update, or just the plugin? I'm not sure the plugin would display the popup.
If you turn off the overall option for apps to request permission, the popup won't show and the app won't be listed. Only apps opened while the permission to ask is on will show.
@wim We don’t collect or sell any personal data, of course. It’s only general, anonymous usage info to improve the app. If you prefer not to share it, you can simply disable data sharing
I didn’t see a pop-up from PD at all, before or after the update. And yes, I ran it stand-alone. I believe I turned off tracking in Settings, but I also don’t see any mention of PD in the list of apps that did ask permission (and I said no to).
@LuisMartinez - is pop drummer phoning home and transmitting ANY data in any way if I’ve disabled tracking in Settings?

If you already have the private identifiers and usage data, then I know of no reason to gather identifiers that can be used for 3rd party tracking.
Granted there is no personally identifiable information that can be linked directly back to a person. But, device ID's can be linked back to track what people do with their devices. Third parties can, and absolutely do, correlate this in ways that can eventually lead back to personally identifiable information. I won't go into the details, but I have decades of experience with these processes. I'm not making anything up.
So here's the thing. People are very sensitive about trackers. They don't even trust that Apple has safeguards in place against you tracking them to begin with. But one of permissions requested is explicitly for trackers that can be used to provide device ID information to third parties.
You assure us you aren't doing that, and I believe you. However others may not. It makes you look bad and may affect sales. If you don't believe me, check out some of the threads about the company that purchased Audiobus and some of the Audiokit apps. It is ugly. I spent quite a bit of time in those threads trying to assure people about the different types of trackers and about Apple's safeguards. It didn't help much. That developer's reputation is irrevocably tarnished around here even after they removed the trackers from most of their apps.
Lastly, if you really do want to get usage data to help improve the app, you're shooting yourself in the foot. For instance, I'm someone that would give permission for the anonymous tracking data for only your own use. I would never give permission for both the anonymous and 3rd party trackers. So you won't get any usage data at all from me and others like me because of that.

@wagdog - I'm very confident in the inability of App Store reviewed apps to send such data out if permissions aren't granted. This isn't an opinion arrived at just by reading articles on the topic. I've developed (but never published) iOS apps and have had to learn about the APIs for such things. Apple is serious about privacy.

That’s just a smokescreen. It makes a big deal about privacy from 3rd parties so people don’t realise that Apple tracks everything you do. (Same as Microsoft, Facebook and Google).
Yeh, I was thinking I should have added "at least when it comes to developers" as a caveat to that. 😂
I previously had the iOS setting disallowing any apps to ask to track. I enabled apps to ask, then I downloaded the Pop Drummer update and opened the standalone.
I got the popup.
Is it possible that you had the iOS setting disallowing apps to ask for permission when you opened the standalone?
Yeah I am curious why there was no explanation, just an “of course we don’t track you - don’t be silly 😅”
Thanks for explanation @wim. Yes, I had main "Allow Apps to Request to Track" toggle disabled. But I didn't get popup from standalone PD even when I enabled this toggle. Could be a reason that I had installed PD beta on TestFlight?
If it permission to ask was denied when you ran the app for the first time after the trackers were added, it wouldn’t prompt you just because you granted permission later. It’s a one-time thing.

Seems Lumbeat has the infrastructure to take this to a new level.. just throw a sample in and. imagine.. Drums, iBassist.. well, a Lumbeat melody generator would be…..
AI is turning into a monster…
Lumbeat isn’t really AI in the buzzword sense though - there’s no “learning” involved. All the beats are programmed in with generative fills.
But yeah, it’s really cool how easy it is to put something together. You can build a song in Pop Drummer, send those parts to iBassist, and create accompaniment drums in any other Lumbeat app.
Would any generative melody generators like Piano Motifs, Riffler, MelodyBud, etc. work in tandem with iBassist to lock something in?
if only iBassist would allow us to use our own bass samples OR allow editing of the samples provided!
I use it with midi out to other bass apps instead.
I can't say I care for any of the included sounds. They take a ton of tweaking to sound good to me.
I agree totally! Even if one could tweak attack and decay settings would be a start!

I only use iBassist as a midi generator and it's fab, truly. Which apps do you use for bass sounds?
Mostly Bassalicious 2 when working with iBassist (which I don't do all that often).
How does everyone like AUv3 Pop Drummer so far? I find I’m actually using it as IAA still more than I am AUv3.
I’m really wishing you could either receive grooves from other drummers or at least import MIDI. I’m still using Jazz and Soft drummer more often because they communicate better in the ecosystem.
I’ll say that Pop Drummer does make for a great primary drummer for straight beats. But I think it could get really interesting receiving stuff from Indian Drummer.
I don't like IAA. Now I use PopDrummer AUv3 in Loopy Pro 99.9% of the time, and the other drummers are gathering dust.
Auv3 in pop drummer has made my life easier, that’s for sure.
It’s probably been covered and I’ve missed it, but how do I adjust the volume of the kick, snare and other kit pieces, from Loopy Pro?
I want to have some faders to adjust the kit pieces, so I can bring them in/out at will but I don’t see any parameters for PopDrummer at all in Loopy Pro.
I found this one for Decent Sampler, it’s become my go-to. Sounds great!
