I was bummed I recently missed out on both GR-16 & BAM on sale for Halloween.

But then just yesterday I dusted out Korg Gadget on my Nintendo Switch and got really into it.

So now I guess I’m going all in with Gadget for my iOS music production. Aside from buying the main app, I’ll also probably get Kamata, Bilbao, & Vancouver.

I recently used Gadget on Switch for the 1 hour song challenge posted by @jwmmakerofmusic and it was really fun. I think the game and DLC goes on sale sometimes for Switch. Eventually I want to get the DLC on Switch + iPad. Looks like you’re able to get just the gadgets standalone on desktop too which is cool. I love Gadgets on tablets, but it feels a bit too much of a toy to spend $300 on the whole thing to use on desktop.

Yeah, I wouldn't buy Gadget on Desktop, especially since I've dumped a lot of money into the Korg iOS ecosystem over the past decade. 😂 I have every last Gadget-compatible app and IAPs and etc. Now that we can use gadgets in other AUv3 hosts like Cubasis and AUM, I barely use the Gadget app itself.

But all that said, I do love Korg Gadget.

I think I know the answer, but would you pick up the standalone desktop Gadgets vs the whole DAW? I feel like you don’t do desktop much so I think the answer would be “not interested in either”. But I do think that’s cool to have the option to get just the plugins and not the whole DAW.

I don't do desktop at all, but I'd probably cave and go for the Gadgets as plugins on desktop to use in FL Studio if I ever went back to desktop at all. :)

The only reason I think desktop would be worth it is if you do 90% of your music making in Gadget and want to bring it to desktop. Sure you can export the MIDI and configure the gadget plugins in a DAW, but I don’t know if that brings over the settings and such.

I'm not sure it brings over the settings and such either to be fair. If I had a PC or Macbook or whathaveyou, I'd be sure to test it. :)

Well when you make a song on Switch and bring it over to iOS I believe it brings the settings over with it. I would think it would be the same, but someone who has both would need to check. Maybe someone will cave during the sale and let us know.

  • Anyone know if Moog discount their apps for Black Friday?

Hoping for a Sugar Bytes sale. May finally pick up Dialekt.

On that subject, can I ask, what is the difference between the iPhone and iPad versions? Optimized interface for iPad and audio single outs are the only extras the iPad version gives as far as I can see?

Anyone know of any other differences - @Gavinski, maybe?

Hi Robin, I'm not sure I can remember accurately now, as I don't use iPhone myself, but if you look at the main Dialekt thread it was definitely discussed. Multi out was one difference for sure, phone version doesn't have that, whether it was the only difference, I can't recall. Have they still not added that info clearly to the AppStore description? They really should lol

Thanks for responding @Gavinski, really appreciate it. Yeah, it was me that asked the developer on the main thread when it was released - I just wondered whether anything had been added exclusively to the iPad version since then to justify the big price difference?

Nope, they still don’t explicitly say what’s different between the two versions in the AppStore listings - the only difference in the features list is the very easy to miss audio single outs for the iPad version.

Very strange pricing discrepancy between the two versions in my opinion. Considering the higher price, I also don’t understand why they don’t sell the iPad version as a bundle to include the iPhone version for the same asking price - currently, if you want to use it on both devices without buying both apps, the logical choice is the cheaper iPhone version not the more expensive iPad version surely? (In fairness, I guess that might be down to the technicalities of iaps and bundles? Got a feeling the developer said something along those lines actually.)

Anyway, hopefully they have a sale. Many thanks again, cheers.

Yes, I remember also that it was something about bundles and IAPs or something like that, forget the details tho. Think they made the iPhone version cheaper as they didn’t want people forking out too much if they wanted both. It was (and is) a bit messier than it should be ideally, I agree

  • I'll tell you what.... Cem's cooking up a really tasty offering, dunno if it's gonna be ready by Black Friday, but I'm all in!

  • Don’t quote me on this, but I’m planning on spending approximately £0.00 on plugins until at least the remainder of 2025.

    I have too many already.

If I want a new one I just need to go through my plugin folders and pick one I forgot I already have and use that :-)

I’m hoping a Pianoteq license will be discounted.

They tend to only discount the Standard and Pro licenses. Not sure if a Stage to Standard/Pro license will be updated.

  • I hope everything goes on sale. I want drambo, loopy pro, fabfilter bundle, and more but i dont need anything

Lol same here. My list of MIDI sequencers keeps growing despite every attempt to keep it slim. I'll probably find an excuse to grab some of the Ryan Robinson apps. Maybe more FAC as well! Polyflo was shamelessly snagged on sight and I'd love to explore some of his other creations.

FabFilter bundle would be really nice to get. They’re really pricey even on sale but I do have Pro-Q 4 and it really is great compared to most other tools in the same function group.

  • Even though I no longer insta-buy stuff I could consider making an exception if KORG dropped some new apps...
...most of all I look forward to updates for already existing apps...

  • I only have a few iPad apps I’m interested in if they go on sale: ID700, MiRack, Patterning 3 and Loopy Pro.

While I know these apps are probably well worth their full prices, I simply don’t need them, only want them.

Considering I’ve bought loads of great Mac software this year, I’ve bought very little for my iPad. I rarely feel that my iPad is really lacking anything now, so only sale prices ever really tempt me for the most part.

I would cross my fingers, but playing my keyboard would suck even more with fingers crossed :p

You ever cross your fingers and touch the edge of a coin, with the tip of your crossed fingers? Trippy.

  • Same in USA.

I have the free version and yeah this is a must for me. My wife loves it and I can only imagine how much she’ll dig the full version

  • Oh and Blofeld. I doubt it will go on sale but that’s one that’s on the wish list

  • Loopy Pro and Logic Pro...but I don't think that's gonna happen...

  • 4 apps that seem to NEVER go on sale, even for Black Friday...

    • Sensual Sax
    • Ioniarics
    • WebSDR
    • RMX-1000

    Maybe this year...?
