Just when i was warming up to the AI idea….. POW knock out blow . Might be time to upgrade but not just so i can improve my voice theres still life left in the M1: After reading this thread i still dont know exactly what this app does and after reading that comment ill not think about it again
I have an iPad 16 so don’t know if that’s good or bad as far as running this. $24.99 for the whole thing ? That’s not bad, and I had $30 in case Mariana and/or Blofeld went on sale, but the heavy DSP usage is reason to pause right there
M5 here. In AUM, it shows 85%…
$59 for lifetime
What buffer size?
Oh, so this may be an error on the app’s end or iPadOS version-based error, has anyone tried resetting? I’m going to try now…
Ahh got it…yeah that’s a wee bit steep for me especially since we do a lot of instrumentals.
Same results, I suspect this is not as intended, I reported an issue in the App Store since it has affected M1 to M5 users
FAQ says: “ What if my system only partially meets the requirements?
MicDrop uses state-of-the-art AI algorithms to enable real-time vocal transformation within the DAW, locally, without needing to process on a server or use credits, etc. These methods are CPU/GPU intensive, and push the limits of what is possible on mid to high level machines. That being said, they can easily run on machines over five years old, for instance mid or even low-tier gaming computers. Note that unlike many traditional plugins, you won't be able to run a high number of MicDrop instances concurrently. It's more like running a game or video than an old style plugin, in terms of how much it taxes the system. This is cutting-edge software which may require altered workflows- for instance printing or freezing vocal tracks when many AI singers are required”
512
Pro 6th Gen M2, AUM buffer cranked all the way to 2048, and it still can't keep up. Dropouts at lower buffers, but even at this level it tremolos, like soft dropout. Too bad. Nice idea.
You'd think that an offline render feature would mitigate this somewhat.
Brutal
I wonder if it’s a memory leak after the voice data is loaded or something. I have a feeling the first update will fix it 🙏
When I set it to dry, 4% capacity, wet 59% capacity 😂 then if I say something 99% capacity
Definite no go on the iPad mini (a17).
Glitches, drops out and hard clips when running in any DAW. Drop outs and clipping stop when buffer in AUM increased to 1024 but even then it at best sounds like Humanoid more than a morphed vocal.
Can't export a processed file from any DAW - just end up with a blank file and unable to find the AUv3 in any audio editor. Interested to hear it in action but what I can currently hear is far from being impressive.
Have you tried it in Logic Pro ? It is supposed to be optimised for this daw...
Yes, but on the latest iPad Mini. No difference between that and any other DAW on my device.
What about offline rendering?
In the AppStore under Compatibility it says “Works on this iPad”. My iPad is an A16. Seems a little misleading to me. 😎✌🏼
Do you believe them?
Resulted in a blank file repeatedly. I updated my iPad OS and Logic. That has helped it somewhat. It can now play without drops and glitches with Logic set to 512 and only audio files with no FX other than micdrop running. It still occasionally throws a CPU warning anyway. If I try to offline render just the vocal track it still produces a blank file. If I add some other audio tracks alongside, it does render it. It sounds the same as when playing at 512 when rendered - more like a mix of original sound and Humanoid, breaking in to robotic and vocoder type unnatural sounds in places rather than a different voice.
After updating OS, it also did appear in Twisted Wave. It can't play a preview without all the glitches and also renders a blank file when asking it to apply the plugin.
Was hoping this would work on my M1 just freezing tracks (definitely not expecting anything real-time) - won't even load in Cubasis.
This thread turned out so sad in the end.. 😂🥲
All the philosophizing wasted, as nobody actually has a device powerful enough to use the damn thing. Kinda hilarious in a way but a real bummer for the devs, I guess. Ported it too early maybe...
Yeahhh, I got a new M5 but I’m not about to dedicate the whole thing to run 1 effect in my live setup 😵
I was worried my M2 was going to start showing its age with an app like this but seems like it isn’t a clunker quite yet comparatively.
🤣 me delaying requesting a refund, praying for an update that fixes it 🙏
And that is why I would not spend that amount for an app, in fear of something like this happening, and Apple denying a refund
Makes sense man, I’m hoping BT and his company make it right. I’ve been following him for over 20 years and appreciate his music and tech savviness.
Here you have vocalists but you need to pay for'em. Price vary a lot though: Fiverr Singers
