I have been a lurker for a long time and finally joined to properly thank users who post about the deals here, mainly @Poppadocrock, really appreciate the help.

It's dangerous in here. I didn't know about 90% of these apps before discovering this community.

Discovering little gems is most of the fun, but I am happy to indulge in a few apps once in a while as opposed to desktop software. Actually, the most dangerous field is hardware imo, haha.

Eurorack for sure, but after burning out from making music on the PC for many years, I've been appreciating some focused hardware for a dawless solution integrated with an iPad and Loopy Pro for recording. It's felt amazing to write music again and feel good about having the hardware rather than mouse.

  • The super sales to MacBook pipeline is real. One day you’re paying $2 for a $5 reverb saying what a steal it is, the next day you’re dropping a grand on an MacBook Pro and buying $600 desktop VSTs.

  • In a partial defense of EG Nodes, I'd say the thing that justifies it for me is that it's a different workflow from AUM, which can lead to different and interesting results. I think of it as a sequencing-first environment, while AUM is an audio-first environment.

That said, I hardly ever use EG Nodes.

  • I don't think I'll ever switch back to laptop or desktop. I've been way more productive on iPad than I ever was before.

  • A good chance many of these deal> @maxxpower18 said:

I said the same thing about 14 years ago - never gone back. Also way more productive on iPad than ever was on desktop.

There is a new SQSL sequencer out: https://www.seqsual.com/mantra
    App store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/sqsl-mantra/id6755682124

(Usual caveats on no AUv3 apply - let's skip the discussion on that this time perhaps, and just enjoy a new weird sequencer from an dev with an original vision.)

Haven't had that much time to fiddle around with it yet, but can confirm that it looks and works great on iPad too.

EDIT: after playing around with it a bit - this is super fun. Basically works with 3 short sequences it then can progress thru mutations of automatically or manually triggered. Loads of fun sending to OneShot or similar. :-)

I decided to go for it. What sold me was the small app size, compatibility with older iPads (which gives me some flexibility if things get wonky), and the 4.9 review score.

That and it's been a slow start to the holiday shopping season for me app-wise since I'm pretty well covered.

I wouldn’t call it abandoned. It’s more like EG doesn’t seem to update apps that often. regardless, I wouldn’t call it a must have, but it sometimes useful, a bit unique and works in other hosts. I got it on intro at like $9.99, so yea… I think either way you’ll be ok. Its nice to have but not a must have.

    Thanks for the love @satchnut @telecharge @Meek3

  • It’s a shame David Letterman retired before he had a chance to do a iOS themed Top 10 List of least likely developments, cause Waldorf going on sale looks about as likely as Korg going full AUv3, Bebot getting Logic Pro integration, and an iPhone 6 running that ai voice changing app thingy that apparently only Skynet can run 😂

They basically only do intro sales, so yeah I wouldn’t expect it.

EG Nodes back on sale 25%+ off at $14.99 !

    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/eg-nodes/id6466639463

Hasn't been updated or discounted in 1+ year, unsure if it works under 26.1. Last discount was deeper. Doesn't support macOS. Already have AUM, apeMatrix, Drambo, BAM, many of the bud apps... Ehh... Do I need it? Sale might only last a day, if not an hour. The pressure is ON.

Short answer (which is all I can give atm unfortunately) is nah, you don’t need it.

General advice or based on personal experience?

Personal experience. I like it a good deal but it’s buggy for me. I have all that you have pretty much, except for BAM, and I think you’re covered.

Thx, you may have saved me $15 on an unnecessary buy (a big problem for me)!

I’ve never had any bug issues and it’s definitely one of my favourite apps! Seems really simple to get something going.

I'm curious about this one, too. There used to be some enthusiasm for it around here.

No updates in 1+year is a bit concerning for a $15-20 app.

That’s the biggest thing. Others might have no problems with bugs but I definitely do, and I reached out to the dev through email and their discord long ago and never got any response. I bought it when it was on intro sale at 12.99 and knowing what I do now, I wouldn’t pay that today.

Same with me when I tried to reach him regarding Waveshaper. Never got a response either. Turned out to be a device issue but still left a bad taste in my mouth

A shame. EG has done some of the finest work to date.

I do agree with that. > @Poppadocrock said:

What seems different from before with EG this time is he’s gone completely AWOL—disappeared from his Discord, doesn’t respond to emails, etc.

That seemed like it’d be uncharacteristic until about a year ago. Apps aside, I hope he’s ok.

  • Is there an app that is similar to Ableton's Simpler?

Simpler is just a scaled-down version of their Sampler. There are lots of samplers on iOS, but Koala is king around here - https://apps.apple.com/app/koala-sampler/id1449584007

I didn’t know Curaçao had a football team.

  • Huh ... can anyone confirm that Sugar Bytes added multiple audio outputs to Dialekt with one of their updates, or was that only for FX out? I know it didn't start that way, and I'm having trouble finding definitive information, but notice it's still on sale and might serve a purpose for me if it does.

The iPad version is multiout but the phone version isn’t.
