Completely false. I am sure that many in this discussion think of themselves as having a view from the left while also valuing individual liberty.
They also probably believe (like pretty much everyone who is not an extremist) that there are times that individual rights are limited for the benefit of the whole. For example, individuals don’t have the right to murder people. Individuals don’t have the right in certain circumstances to discriminate.
Much writing from the left deals with the ways that the powerful curtail the rights of the less powerful.
There are times where individual liberty is at odds with a harmonious and functioning community. Every society and culture draws the lines differently—but all have those lines.
Civil rights are an important part of any functioning society. You might characterize that as placing group rights over the individual. I would say that is a highly misleading characterization.
This is an official communication from the government. I find the tone and implicit message chilling.
What is even there to discuss. We live under fascism in the US, it's the natural final form of the supersized capitalism that Americans love and have allowed to run unchecked. ICE is Trump's Gestapo, anyone with a working brain and eyes can see that. As a brown person I hate that I have to live in fear that I'll get snatched by those bastards just because the color of my skin.
But ICE has evolved from thugs snatching brown people off the streets, just like the Gestapo they are here to terrorize everyone and impose a 'soft martial law', where even white people are fair game. If you still consider yourself a Republican you should be ashamed of yourself. This all started with Reagan when he tricked poor white people into allowing the rich to get richer by cutting taxes for the richest under the guise of 'trickle down economics'.
Unfortunately this is not gonna end at the ballot box. Trump has full immunity and his secret police will terrorize people into submission. After the civil war, the US instead of punishing the seditionists they were allowed to impose Jim Crow laws that would make even Hitler blush. That hate in the South was allowed to survive and get passed down from generation to generation, culminating with what we are seeing now where a solid 37% of the country is all in on Trump's fascism as long as it's the browns, the blacks, the trans, the gays, the vulnerable that suffer.
That's all I got. I'm so sick of this country and the disgusting crap that is happening every day and as we saw in this very own thread, there's many people who just refuse to listen to facts and live in a completely different world.

@wim I’m a mod on another forum (Cherry Audio) and I get what you’re saying in the other thread, but sometimes one persistent poster can have an outsized impact on a small community and that’s what’s happening here IMO. This is a music community and a platform for Loopy Pro. I think the views of one are damaging the community,. Have been for a long time. And they haven’t learned because they must have been warned when they excused the George Floyd murder and got banned back then.
Fascism is once again spreading around Europe and now North America. I can’t believe it but it is. Good to see the Loopy Pro Forum stand up.

Even the military doesn't have immunity. They have a code of conduct and face justice if they violate it, even against our enemies in time of war. Police officers are bound by the law and can and are prosecuted for misconduct.
What an incredibly dangerous thing to say! Especially when you're hiring large numbers of officers who may not be fully vetted and who probably don't have adequate training. If you're gonna say something like that, then there sure as hell should be follow-up to state what accountability they do have.

Yes to the account but no to logging on. I knew they didn’t typically allow it but I was hoping since posts there are official government documents there’d be a way to see them. If there ends up being an executive order to detain anyone with gray eyes but it’s only posted to X or Truth Social and I didn’t see it in time I’d like to know anonymously, you know?
I won’t give X my eyeballs. There are a handful of people I trust that keep on eye on it and post findings of note.
Sure but please look at the accumulative effect of posts over time as well. That can be just as damaging as any individual post where they skirt a ban by pretending they didn’t fully understand the meaning of what they said (such as the ‘no quarter’ comment).

I know sometimes it feels obligatory not to let misinformation stand unanswered.
I understand the conundrum.
I understand why you'd oppose it, but there are all kinds of exclusions which are recognized as constitutional in our legal system. To wit, to run for President you must be a natural born citizen, you cannot run unless you are at least 35 years old and you have to have been a resident of the US for at least 14 years.
My support for the exclusion and removal of any who cannot or will not support their sworn oath of office—as President, as a member of Congress—to "protect and defend the Constitution of the United States" is fundamental to the functioning of the Federal government. One cannot serve as a caretaker/lawmaker/defender of the US if one opposes the foundational laws which support it and the individual rights of citizens.
That's right, authoritarians should be barred from office, after all they don't believe in the liberal ideas that the US was founded on.
