  • MAGA tried to rig the game board and still managed to lose.

I wonder if this is going to push them to cheat even harder.

Steve Bannon is already talking about having ICE thugs at polling stations. MAGA sure is dead set on turning the rest of the U.S into a shithole such as Florida, Texas or North Carolina.

They know they are unpopular. They are doubling down because they will try everything in their power to either cancel elections or cheat, so no need to actually try to listen to their constituents.

    There really is no bottom.

  • I mean, why are people surprised. He told us he's a racist, he told us he'd be a dictator. What the fuck did people think was gonna happen. The first thing the orange bastard said when he got off that escalator in 2015 was that all Mexicans are rapists. Once he was allowed to continue running for president after saying something so disgusting, the country was handed over to him.

He’s basically said most Mexican immigrants are rapists, and then doubled down. The unredacted remarks aren’t really much better.

Oof...this one seems bad. Should take it down.

Shouldn’t have done it in the first place.

That is a more correct summary of it that all Mexicans are rapists. Seems like he is inflating the fact that there are some criminals getting across the border. Certainly "most" are not rapists!

He does that inflating to emphasize the underlying point. Not the best way to get your point across. Just stick with "there are criminals coming here illegally from Mexico and we should correct that." Seems like everyone would agree with that point!

Most white people are illiterate magats. Seems like everyone would agree with that point.

But seriously, McMillan, the whole issue with this kind of messaging is that it is scapegoating that isn’t based on factual data as the overwhelming majority of immigrants aren’t committing crimes. Trump and MAGA are overemphasizing the crimes committed by a few to demonize the rest and get the base riled up. Simultaneously, it acts as an overt dogwhistle.

@McD adding up the democracy/autocracy scores, giving the center mark a 0 and the marks all the way at the end a +5 on the democracy side, and a -5 on the autocracy side, Trump's score = 1+0+1+3+0+3-1+3+3-1-2+3 = 13. So, leaning democratic?

Best score would be 60 for 100% democracy and -60 for 100% autocracy.

Is there a chart for Biden? My guess at his scores would be -2-2-3-2+0+5+5-2-2+2-5+3 = -3...slightly autocratic.

What president would score closer to a 60? Any?

Here are some scores for comparison of current Trump to Biden:

To compare the current state of U.S. democracy with previous years, experts use several different "threat indexes" and "democracy meters." These tools measure things like judicial independence, press freedom, and the strength of executive constraints.

Currently, in February 2026, most indexes show a significant decline in the quality of American democracy compared to the 2024 (Biden-era) baseline.

    1. The Century Foundation’s “Democracy Meter”
This tool uses a 100-point scale to evaluate the strength of democratic institutions.

      • Biden (2024 Score): 79/100. Described as "mediocre but solid," with high marks for the independence of the media and civil society.
      • Trump (2026 Current Score): 57/100. This represents a 28% drop in just one year. The biggest decline occurred in the "State Institutions" category, which dropped from 22/30 to 10/30 points.
    2. Authoritarian Threat Index (Protect Democracy)
This index uses a 5-point scale, where 1 is a Low Threat and 5 is a Catastrophic Threat.

      • Biden (2024 Avg): ~2.1 to 2.4. Most of the Biden term was categorized as a "Significant Threat," largely due to the lingering effects of the January 6th insurrection and partisan polarization.
      • Trump (2026 Current): 3.4. This has been upgraded to a "Severe Threat." Specific categories like Rhetoric (3.9) and Executive Constraints (3.8) are nearing the "Critical" level.
    3. Bright Line Watch (Expert Surveys)
Political scientists are surveyed periodically to rate the "health" of U.S. democracy on a 0–100 scale.

      • November 2024 (Election Day): 67/100. * April 2025: 53/100. * February 2026 (Current): 54/100. Experts currently place the U.S. roughly halfway between a "strong democracy" (like Canada at 88) and a "non-democracy" (like Country C at 18).

Just some quick checking on the sites or organizations' backgrounds:
    1. Seems left leaning acording to MediaBiasFactCheck.com and Influencewatch.org (which is pretty far right according to MediBiasFactCheck.com :D )
    2. seems unbiased and fair. Co-founder has criticized a few presidents from both parties.
    3. left leaning according to MediaBiasFactCheck.com

I wouldn't disagree with #2's assessment that Trump has taken a turn

See… we found some middle ground. Budgeting $150B to create a Federal Police Force and Detention facilities seems like a real “turn” of events.

  • Let's find some middle ground over Trump sharing a video showing black people as apes, shall we? Because having members being a part of a music community that think that's OK is really good for the community isn't it? And every time they post in any music or app thread on the esteemed Loopy Pro forum we can just compartmentalize the fact that they actively support such racist bigotry. Cool.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome any Somali musicians and producers to our community as well...

Well it's also hilarious how their rotting brains justify this stuff. So Trump posted that disgusting video, it stayed up for 12 hours. Trump's mouthpiece, Leavitt claimed that it wasn't Trump who posted it and that it was actually a staff member who apparently has access to Trump's Lie Social account and posts in the middle of the night. Then today Trump comes out and says hell yeah I posted it and I don't regret it.

Every time Trump does something despicable, it's a repeat of this meme:
    "Trump visibly shits his pants"
Trump's mouthpiece: "the president did not shit his pants"
Trump: "I did shit my pants, on purpose, and I'll do it again".

  • Has anyone actually seen the video?

Not sure if this is the case but...I read that it was a video screen grab from another online video that was claiming that someone used the voting machines online remote access to dump millions of votes into the system for Biden in the 2020 election.

The last few seconds of the clip were the autoplay of the next video, which was politicians as jungle animals, which starts out with the Obamas.

Anyone know if that is correct?

Yeah the video that had the racist content was also about voting machines being hacked. So double bad because it is the president undermining the mechanisms of election with a racist conspiracy theory video.
