  • Thanks @egobeats lovely example there.

Also thanks to @Gavinski for your excellent demos.

The AUM save issue has been fixed but App Review is taking a while. Its up on TestFlight if anyone wants to test it (PM me for the invite link)

  • thank you @elemental for the iPad version.

I think Tonebank shines when a few instances are used, as rhythmic inspiration, and then manually played instruments/voices are added. Otherwise it can get too mechanical and sterile quite fast, even though it is based on natural rhythms.

  • Has anyone figured out a way to use MIDI guitar with this and have the musical conversations that way?

As far as I know: there are only 2 ways to use midi IN in Tonebank: 1. Changing the rootnote for the currently playing Harmony (option in settings: MIDI to Tonic). 2. Editing the Harmony (the chordprogression) with the option MIDI Input on. . Both not very convenient with Midi Guitar...

  • Hi @elemental , I found some 'flaws' in Tonebank:
    1. The SAVE and DELETE buttons in the dialog for Harmony-presets have fallen out of view! So deleting these presets is impossible.
    2. None of the preset-dropdown-menus (Presets, Harmony, Clave) have a scrollbar, so choosing a preset from a list that's longer then the Tonebank-window-height is impossible!
    3. When using the option MIDI to Tonic, the midi-note from a midicontroler is also send to (all) the instruments! I can't imagine that that is the intention (because mostly that note is pressed not in time...); maybe an extra option Midi Through -> Off?
    4. The link to the User Guide (in Settings) opens the manual for Tonebank version 1. While there is a manual for version 2 on your website.

    Nice app! Thank you.

Ahh cheers, not what I was expecting, nice one for the heads up

Thank you for all the feedback! As a mostly one-man team there's things that can get missed - referring to the manual link here.

Points 1 and 2: Regarding Harmony Editor dialog getting cut off, this has been fixed and is in the version currently on TestFlight. Apple App Review is taking much longer than expected to get that version out (2.0.3). Please PM me for the TestFlight invite link.

Point 3: This does not happen on desktop - I'll check this, it should not allow MIDI through by default but might be good as a user setting.

    Dont worry.

I really appreciate the responsiveness and enthusiasm here! Thank you guys <3

Just got an update to 2.0.1-dev. So, is this still in review?

Yes - still in review - guess things are slower at Apple over the holidays.

  • Tonebank 2.0.3 just passed review (finally!)

This update fixes the AUM saving issue as well as some of the UI issues with dialogs getting cut off.

I also made a cool little "hack" easier to access: if you want to create sequences of different lengths, you can now deactivate by long pressing on a grid column - it will then remove that and all columns to the right, leaving only those to the left. This allows you to set up odd lengths such as 3, 5, 7 etc for cool polymeter type stuff!

  • @elemental app looks great! Is the current price an intro price?

  • Yes it’s an intro price, until next week.

    Which date?
    And final price?

Also: Is the iOS version the same as the desktop version?

    Thanks

  • On Monday 13th the price will go up to $14.99

iOS version is the same as desktop yes

Great fix with the harmony window, the problem mentioned above is still a problem though...@elemental

  • Thanks @lasselu I'll get onto that in the next update!

  • Tonebank updated! AUM state saving fix and harmony window fix live.

  • I just uploaded a new video showing multiple parts, including one detached instance for the bassline with a different clave and simpler harmony.

The video also touches on the concept of "passing chords" - chords that are in the harmony but might not be audible in the chords being played.

  • Hi @elemental , really enjoying your app.
2 buts for me in AUM:
The interface is cropped and the bottom part is invisible when double tapping to fullscreen.
And there’s no help message appearing when touching the Development rotary knob

  • Excellent and original sequencer. I hope the sizing issues get sorted.

  • I will get the fullscreen cropping and preset menu issues sorted ASAP, hopefully for release later this week.

  • The cropping and menu issues have been fixed in version 2.0.4 now up on TestFlight. Please PM me for the invite link. Also submitted for App Review so should be public soon too.

  • Version 2.0.4 just hit the App Store.

    • Fixed size issue causing bottom of UI to get cut off in full screen mode
    • Made dropdown lists scrollable
    • Added missing help text for Development slider
    • Fixed state issues with detached instances
