Song Of The Month Club - March 2026
So I'm back after a break from the forum, and a big thank you to @jwmmakerofmusic for stepping in while I was away.
What is the Song of the Month Club?
It's a place where musicians come to give and receive feedback on their work. Anyone is welcome, whatever their level of ability.
The spirit of the club is to contribute: if you submit a song for others to comment on, you should also have the courtesy to listen to everyone else's contributions and give as much feedback as possible. Posting a track and not listening and commenting on others is not cool.
The purpose of feedback is to be honest. Essentially you should give your truthful impressions of the song, whether good or bad. Negative feedback, if done in the right spirit and with courtesy, can be the most useful and can help the artist to grow.
All submissions are welcome, don't hesitate if you want to contribute. We like all kinds of music and we are particularly fond of vocals (but of course we still love a great instrumental). If you are thinking of experimenting with vocals this is a good place to get started.
We ask that you only post one song per month in this thread - if you're lucky enough to be able to produce more, then please just submit your strongest material
And finally, iOS is not a requirement for posting here. If you've recorded your song using nothing but a ukulele and a Fostex 4 track, that's fine.

My entry for the month, lyrics in the spoiler:
So just the other day
I saw you look away
There's so much that I wanted you
There's so much left to say
But you
You didn't want to stay
So I
I watched you walk away
That's just the way you are
You are the way you are
Ooh ooh the way you are
That's just the way you are
So don't you turn the other way
I live here on my own
I'm used to life alone
There's so much that I wanted you
There's so much left to say
But you
You didn't want to stay
So I
I watched you walk away
That's just the way you are
You are the way you are
Ooh ooh the way you are
That's just the way you are
So don't you turn the other way
First of all, thank you for the shoutout @richardyot .
It was fun to be show-runner for a month, but I'm glad you're back at the helm. ❤️ Welcome back, mate.
Second of all, I really, really want to remix "The Way You Are". What a top song.
I'll get in touch soon to request the stems, BPM and key signature, that is if you're okay with me remixing "The Way You Are".
And lastly, here's my entry for SOTMC March 2026. It is what I call "Videogame OST EDM", lol, whatever the hell that means. 😂 Idk about genres anymore, and I certainly couldn't be faffed to come up with a clever (or not-so-clever) title for the piece.
The riff that propels the whole thing is very catchy, and the groove bounces along nicely. The chiptune solo is epic!
Very good rapping, the vocal really grooves and is full of attitude. Great beat and fantastic lyrics as well.
This song started when I discovered what was to me an amazing cathedral organ sound in Pigments, which drew me in and I couldn't stop playing around with different ideas with the sound. The resulting track is fairly simple - I kind of think of it as a basic sandwich, with the cathedral organ as a really nice slice of sourdough bread, and a few toppings spread across the top. The track also marks the return of my using Drum Computer, as well as being my first posted track using Blofeld.
@richardyot: What a lush and full pulsing track. The synth sounds fully drew me in (and brought me back with wonderful retro nostalgia). Multiple listens here.
@jwmmakerofmusic: Oh dang. That track just drives. I need to be racing in Wipeout or something similar! Love all those ethereal synth/trancey sounds.
@Cigtrax973: Great groove and flow. I really like the almost hypnotic feel of the track.
@Cigtrax973 Everything from the beat to the fire you spat is just perfect, mate! I'm a massive Hip-Hop head who can't really rap beyond someone like Vanilla Ice (word to your mom, lol 😂), but I can cook well-seasoned beats that a lot of rappers love. Not bad for a mid-western US white boy. 🤣 I know what great rap sounds like given I grew up in the Golden Age of Hip-Hop (late 90s-2000s Dre, Snoop, Em, Nas, Big Pun, Missy, etc), and this is up there, mate!
@peanut_gallery Sounds like a perfect marriage of Post Rock and CCM (contemporary Christian music). I really love the style and flow of this amazing piece of music. ❤️ I'm oftentimes found listening to a bit of the CCM via K-Love. I hope to hear more of this from you!
Now to address the compliments. Thank you Richard and Peanut_Gallery for your kind words on my piece. ❤️ It was just a quickly produced piece in Auxy Studio created in under an hour just to post to SOTMC March 2026. 🤣 But shit, it turned out pretty great not gonna lie.
And yes, I'm in love with all the trancey sounds and other sounds that Auxy Studio comes with. It's easy to quickly slap a piece of music together on my iPhone in Auxy Studio, although in this case I used Auxy Studio on my M3 iPad Air.
And I know the subscription pricing model is a turn-off for many. Me too in most cases, but Auxy Studio is one of those apps worth its monthly subscription fee. I made roughly $100 last month from two client tracks (one a Hip-Hop beat, the other bg music for a short animation project) using Auxy Studio. 🤣
Back to the topic.
I thank you kindly for your lovely words. Can't wait to hear who else posts this month. I'm certain @DavidEnglish will post something beautiful and emotional.
This is a music track that I improvised on two MIDI keyboards connected to Bitwig Studio on a desktop PC. There the MIDI was routed to Jaeger for the singing voice, Solo for the flute, Noire for the piano, and Omnisphere and Continua for the background instruments.
After bringing the audio recording into Vegas Pro, I applied the Lurssen Mastering Console plug-in to the audio mix.
It's titled Evening Song.
Beautiful track, I love the piano part and the strings (and the organ). I would never have known that was Drum Computer either, that's a nice drum sound. The piano is the star though, very compelling.
I knew you'd pull out one of your more emotional pieces. I love it. ❤️
@DavidEnglish: Haunting and beautiful. I could get lost in this all day. Amazing improvisation.
The synthesised voice is beautiful, and the track is exceptionally peaceful. An antidote to troubled times.
Hey @richardyot nice to see you. Will you be doing sotmc April?
Definitely!
I'm around, just not posting much.
That's fair, mate.
Glad to hear from you.
@richardyot
Very cool synth sounds on top of a hypnotic bass. Feels like a pop tune from a bygone era with a contemporary Asian influence. Lots of upbeat energy in this one. Gets better every time I listen to it. I love it!
@jwmmakerofmusic
Strong opening with a funky beat and a nice back-draft. Moves forward in surprising directions. Wall of sound with strategic openings for a riffing solo. High-octane with no wasted energy. Most excellent!
@Cigtrax973
Timely rap that’s overlayed in front of a soft-jazz background. Works well to highlight that our global needs -- by necessity -- have to reach through our too-relaxed, too-familiar lives.
@peanut_gallery
A solid tune that points upward towards resolution and optimism. The main melody is simple, yet it becomes more powerful each time it is repeated and reworked until it attains an almost epic quality.
Thanks mate.
Yeah, I'm usually more of the high-octane sort with eras of Ambient sprinkled throughout. At this rate, I doubt I'll make Ambient before Drone Day late next month. 😅 (I will make Drone Ambient on the day of though, not to worry.) New SOTMC here.

Waste no time, David.
What a great variety of sounds / genres / moods … superb work by everybody and welcome back Richard, hope Jim kept your seat warm !
I like the post-punk feel of it and the reverby production. The harmony in the chorus caught me by surprise with the slight major brightness. Nice funky backbeat too with the plinky keys being a nice touch. Great keyboard solo.
in the best possible way:
I think a female vocal would sound sooo good on top of this.
First person I thought of was Busta Rhymes, but just a little bit. Great lyrics, great flow and great voice timbre. i am a fan of spaghetti westerns so I noticed that horn melody in the mix with great pleasure.
I recently saw an old article where a song doctor compared a song to a pastrami sandwich.
I like the sound selection in the track, and the organ does sound amazing. I really like your phrasing with the piano. Nice uplifting piece.
Nice improvisation as usual. Ethereal and beautiful.
Thanks both for taking the time to listen and comment.
Okay, here's my song of the month. It's so different from what I usually do it doesn't even sound like me. Now I'm gonna listen to some of the stuff in this thread.
Wow, this is so 80s. You remind me of so many groups of that era but I can't put my finger on just one and it'd driving me crazy. So tell me, who are your 80s influences? I know you have to have at least a few. Anyway, this is just freaking awesome. I could imagine this being on the radio back then.
Wow, that kick really kicks. This one is a real toe tapper. The mix is awesome. Don't know what else to say other than this is so freaking cool. Very well done. Not that I'm surprised.> @Cigtrax973 said:
I'm not really into rap but this is professionally done. I can imagine this up there with all the big rappers. So kudos.
That is one freaking cool organ. That's Pigments? Wow. I'm really impressed. Anyway, the song is awesome. I didn't want it to end.
I saw your name and I knew this was gonna be great. You have a sound and style all your own that is instantly recognizable. Kind of like Kenny G. Just a lot better.
Cheers, my friend.
I'm glad you dig it. Took me years of practice to work on getting decent mixes. I usually just use Airpods Pros in "noise cancellation" mode to work on mixdowns in the morning/early afternoon when my ears are fresher. This one was actually done in Auxy Studio rather than Korg Gadget.
