Yep, no problem! The loop function is an easy one so I’ll be tackling that first, and then I can get cracking in the transport auto-play and see if I can make it happen.
Congratulations on the release @lewisleval.
Just so I can be clear: Cache can be loaded as an AU and then files dragged and dropped from Cache into the host and into AU fx which accept audio import? Is that correct?
Any chance of bpm estimation to go with the key estimation?
Thank you! Yep, that’s exactly it. I made this because I was growing tired of dragging samples in from outside of AUM, I wanted to be able to browse, audition and drag them quickly from inside it. I’m also not a fan of how Cubasis handles sample import as well so Cache works nicely there too.
Some apps have a built in file browser for samples, but unless you know the exact sample you’re going for, it can be time consuming loading samples in, listening to them, then repeating the process to load and audition a new one. So as long as the destination instrument or effect supports drag and drop, like Elsa, Outgrowth, Koala, etc, then you’ll be able to drag from Cache. The same goes for timelines that support drag and drop too like Logic and Cubasis.
The bpm indicator is something I’m currently working on 😊
That's awesome! Thanks very much. I bought it this morning and a loop option stood out to me so I'll really appreciate it.
Maybe a crowdsourced list of AUv3s that support this kind of drag and drop would be useful: So, Elsa, Outgrowth, Koala - what else?
No worries at all! Thank you for your support 😊
Brilliant, thanks for clarifying, appreciate it. Cheers.
Fluss and Tardigrain too!
Good point. Honestly I’m not 100% sure, as now it seems that only some folders with samples work. Maybe the upcoming update will fix some things.
Great! Many thanks 🙏
@lewisleval
Thanks for being such a responsive and congenial dev 🤙 Rad app
Currently, Cache will allow you to drag samples that > @Squishy said:
Thank you! I’m trying haha. I appreciate your kind words 😊
Maybe turn the app icon on its side so it doesn’t look like The Bird (which I realize is not a thing in all parts of the world).
Would be cool if it had a waveform display and simple transpose (just playback speed).
Having something like that in BM3, sampling direct to pads would be amazing.
Is this an intro price or the regular one?
FWIW, koala’s browser is able to indicate whether cloud files are locally downloaded and have an icon to initiate download. That functionality is also in the Files browser that apps can use. It seems like those functions may be available to any app that can browse the file system.
Note in the screenshot that is a directory being browsed not a directory owned by koala.
Sitala, Bam, Segments, Dawnbeats
Doesn’t work with tardigrain for me. I’m doing something wrong, I’m sure
@lewisleval buying this because of the need to be buying it because after all you've been making it for us to buy. Well done. Keep up the additional additions etc.
Drag and drop works in both Loopy Pro as a host and as an AUv3 plugin.
D&D in Ableton Note is ok😎🔊🔊🔊
Audioshare not yet💪
Does anyone dare contacting Audio Damage to let them know that drag and drop into an Audio Unit is possible? When it comes to Circa, they insist it isn’t possible, or am I misunderstanding something? Surely this app and the others mentioned show that it is possible?
It's because they use JUCE as a framework. Actually, drag and drop is possible with JUCE plugins, via workarounds. Audiomodern did it with Loopmix. But apparently it was hard work. So either Audio Damage don't know how to do it, or they may not think they can justify the time. But from what I know, if they think it's impossible, they're probably wrong
But yeah, if they say it's an Apple restriction, that's 100% wrong.
damn, how cool would it be if Igor's sample based apps had drag and drop
I wish Gauss supported drag and drop too. I'm really not a fan of using in-app file browsers. In a folder containing 30+ samples, loading them in one by one just to hear them is such a headache.
I guess since you now made the dragging much simpler and more comfortable now some people have to up their dropping game
@lewisleval really good stuff man. Appreciate ya!
Thanks for clarifying @Gavinski. I don’t think I’ve got the energy to try to argue the case with them though - that statement in the user manual makes me think they’re pretty sure they’re right even if they’re not. I’ve already suggested they add regular Files app based sample import if drag and drop isn’t possible so I feel I’d be pushing my luck to get in touch again to say, ‘actually, you might be wrong about drag and drop’! Shame, sample import of some sort would really be useful.
Thank you mate!
