  • He looks a bit like the "Suno guy"

  • I'm afraid that Roland are going to complicate this somehow. I hope they don't implement a log-in-and-check-in-to-the-cloud scheme for the iPad lifetime key, but I think they will.

That would suck if they will. I think that would cause me to give it a miss. That's one reason I stopped using Desktop were license keys and bullshit like that. 🙄

@MatthewAtZenbeats if this is what you and your team are planning, I hate to say it but count me out.

Don’t we already have to sign into a Roland account to use Zenbeats?

I don't recall having to do that when I had a play with Zenbeats years ago. Maybe I'm misremembering, but I never did that.

  • Zenbeats is a sign in certainly if you put the app on your iPad. Once it’s on it’s only applied to change account stuff.

Yeah, it’s used for their credit system for buying content and being able to have that content available cross platform.

So it doesn't need to call home to use the app? I've seen complaints online about connecting issues with the desktop cloud software. Zenbeats on iPad is just a one time sign in?

If it's only a one time sign in, I'll consider getting it then.

It doesn’t appear to need to phone home.

I’m not sure Zenology is going to be the same way; my guess is it will be tied to Roland Cloud and need to occasionally phone home.

I’ve had zero issues during the years with Zenbeats regarding these questions. Once logged in, you stay logged in. As with all apps, if you want to buy IAPs and get updates they all need to be connected online.

We live in a connected world, whether we like it or not. Basically in the civilized world as of today, you can’t buy groceries, get water and electricity into your house, get fuel for your vehicle or even read and post on this forum👀 without being online. Our whole music niche based on iPads is relying on being able to connect to sources online now and then.

The full subscription discussion I get but what is the problem with an app occasionally calling home?

Seems like a very, very small issue to me given the vast creative potential presented to us….

Double-post, sorry. I was online for a second.

    What? Of course you can.

Connecting to sources online now and then should be my choice. If the seller makes it their choice, then I don't have to buy the product.

If it's not a problem for you, then no one is saying you can't say yes.

    My bad🙏.

I expressed myself poorly. What I meant was that doing all these things relies heavily or totally on systems being online and we are tracked since years digitally in many ways. If that is OK for most of us, then why should it be a problem if a music app connects now and then? But as always, YMMV.

  • I’m ok with a one-time activation at the time of purchase. Beyond that, no thank you, I’ll do without.

  • We all have very different issues with an app that hasn’t been released. Should get real lively when it does drop.

And that is how Zenbeats works on iOS, and how I hope ZGX will work as well for us,

  • 😂🤣

  • The longer it takes the less interested I am. I loved Zenbeats when it first came out but it lost something over time and lost me. Too bad because I had a lot of Roland hardware and loved it. My first synth was a Roland SH-1. Serious bass and awesome filter on that one. 😎✌🏼

  • I would tend to agree, unless the time is being spent reading this forum and making improvements before release. Not likely. I hope they have a good beta team, but I wonder….

That’s ok if you’re not interested. Lots of us are. 👍

The iOS musician is certainly not at a loss for avenues of exploration! 😎✌🏼

That's definitely true, and most apps are priced cheaper than their desktop counterparts. Korg Gadget is an expensive ecosystem, but been a Gadget adopter since Day 1. However, there are so many various apps, plugins, etc, that we're not at a loss for other avenues.

Back on topic though, I'm hoping Zenology GX will blow my mind. :) I lost some interest in it, but am still hopefully we'll get to try it out soon. You in AEMS, me in Cubasis 3, lol.

  • WTF is stopping them releasing it. I honestly think it was finished a while back and the can’t decide a price or working out how to stop you buying it directly from the Apple Store and forcing us down the iCloud route.

Maybe it isn’t done and is taking longer to finish than they expected.

The old adage of software estimation:
The first 80% of a project take 80% of the time.
The last 20% take another 80% of the time.

Yeah, instead of losing patience, I lost interest in waiting for Zenology GX. Not worth worrying about in my opinion. It'll come when it comes.
