WTF is stopping them releasing it. I honestly think it was finished a while back and the can’t decide a price or working out how to stop you buying it directly from the Apple Store and forcing us down the iCloud route.

Yeah, instead of losing patience, I lost interest in waiting for Zenology GX. Not worth worrying about in my opinion. It'll come when it comes.

I’m in full strop mode 🤣

    Lol!

You know at a live show with an artist of your choice, you’re in the audience, the mood, the crowd, the expectations…, the lights go out, the intro starts…. it gets me every time😊.

The more strops people throw, the more people post, the more Roland is incentivized to continue delaying this lol. Every post is free marketing for them and shows them that this kind of strategy - get people excited, then make them wait forever - works. The more rational approach would be to just stop commenting, tbh

I thought that implementing it as an AUv3 was the hold up, but apparently even that will come later. Kudos to the smaller developers who get it right (AUv3) the first time. Larger companies like Apple and Roland often move at a snail's pace. They need to study the Moog Model. Polished GUIs, AUv3 and exceptional sound in both hardware AND software.

Which I understand but why announce at the start of the year that it was coming soon.

Right? I mean, we finally got the announcement email, but unfortunately it means we have to wait even longer. 😬

Working with an old school mindset of hitting the trade show…

Really is a shame. But hey, at least it's only two weeks until we can complain about them taking too long some more (SuperBooth) :D

No business sits on a project for longer than necessary. Delays mean extra cost to pay people, interest on investment borrowing, bad will, and - as illustrated by your case - permanently lost revenue.

It takes many times more effort to overcome negative fallout from releasing product before its ready than it does to build good will out of the gate. Companies like Roland have a lot more to protect about their brand than just a relatively niche product like something released on iOS may justify. Think about someone who decides not to buy any more Roland hardware or desktop products because they got pissed off by something purchased at iOS prices.

Sorry for the preaching. Can't help myself after a bazillion years in the corporate world. 😂

  • At least we’re in for a golden carrot….😎.

    Zen to that.

I have reason to believe Zenology GX will blow many, but of course not all, synths on iOS right out the water.YMMV always applies.

I don’t mind waiting at all to basically have access to all of this on my little iPad including well-made filter emulations of legacy gear like not just the Jupiter, but the Moog and Prophet 5 as well.

  • Yes I understand the many reasons why it might be taken them so long. I just don’t care.
Give me the Zenology in my veins now. I’m really hyped.

I know it’s going to sound absolutely fantastic.

I do hope my M1 iPad can cope.

  • 1st May. 5 months in and still no release. Roland, what are you doing?

They're doing it to piss you off on purpose. 😂 Lol joking. Yeah, I don't know what Roland are doing either. Ah well, FLSM just got a soundfont player, so I'm addicted to that currently.

While the SF2 player in FLMS nice first try it's no real match for KQ Sampei...
...even when using the bog standard General-User.SF2 file some drum sounds (high-hats as an example) are missing in the 808/909 kit and that goes for some of the presets that use velocity layered samples etc.
There's no control over the filter which is a standard GM/GS feature, no effects etc.

Hopefully it'll improve over time, looped recording for midi and real-time would still be nice to haves though.

  • Hi @MatthewAtZenbeats

    Any updates you can share?

  • Roland will have two stands at Superbooth this year. Hopefully the will launch then.

I don’t think many synths on iOS blow synths on desktop away, and this 4 layer Roland thing is probably like the fantom I sold, a hyped up stereo JV module with deep for a synth rompler editing…but no acb or zencore models. I’m not a Roland fan really… the vsynth was the last cool thing they made….almost everything that Roland makes is just the same old thing over and over again, but with disabled features…laughing out loud, it’s ridiculous really. My opinion, naturally your love of them may vary. If only a great synth would come to iOS. Serum2, zebra3, phaseplant, avenger 2, or pigments 7, but noooooo here we are in the ‘nobody wants to bring their top ten synth here’ zone. If they do bring something powerful, it’s some cooked ass player or limited ordeal. SMH. Just frustrated with iOS always getting passed by for better tools, because many iOS users seem to not value anything that cost more than 20 bucks. I bought all these synths on Mac OS, so I would pay extra to have them here, instead of trying to navigate okay plug ins on iOS and better plug ins on Mac OS all the time.

So far the best mega synths we have here are ButterSynth (when it works) and synthmaster 2(3 is just a player and probably will be for the immediate future), Factory is kinda good, but it is crashy as well. I’m not saying all the others are bad synths at all, I’m just saying it’s all v analog or some knockoff of old stuff that may or may not sound like the original…mostly not. I would say Waldorf gave us Nave which is like a partial iridium but it isn’t developed anymore nor can you really use it with anything as a plug in. If serum2 came to this platform I’d erase most of the other synths, and the same with pigments7. I might keep the moog Mariana and moog animoog and a handful of other unique things, because they sound good at their niche. Even friggin Alchemy is limited here, it’s foolish at this point. Apple won’t even release their best synth in full capability mode. I think it’s a sandbox issue, as well as a price expected issue.

  • I’m a massive Roland fan. Absolutely love the Roland sound so this will be a big deal for me. I really can’t wait.

I will never belive ROLAND company about their 'soon'.

  • You know when you pass a highway workplace and you never see any workers and you wonder what’s going on?

Then suddenly one day, you see that the work is all done and the road is all clear? Isn’t that a great feeling?😁

I’m assuming at this point you are a beta tester for zenology. Are we getting good news today?
