  • I didn't know where the Chaos slider was until I watched a video. They might want to make it a little more obvious.

Maybe I’ll settle my aas by grabbing taip or crystalline…

This is super simple and usable, and always manage to sound good

    Crystalline is AMAZING

Just got BA-1 on sale. How do I set up the external sidechain? The manual says that it’s possible, but I’m not sure how to route it in Drambo or AUM.

This video from @jakoB_haQ shows you how to set up sidechaining with any app that has that ability inside AUM. It’s a bit older but should still hold up. Hope it helps.

  • Heres another shorter video from @gsdsp

I don't think it's possible with BA-1 at the moment because iOS hosts don't support sidechain input for instrument AUv3s, only for "music effect" plugins, which receive both audio and MIDI. Baby Audio could publish such a version but they haven't done so. Logic Pro may be an exception; I only used the trial a long time ago.

@Poppadocrock all of those examples are effect plugins, so that approach won't work in this case.

  • Yea, good point, i guess I’ve never done it directly with a synth. Im probably not the best person to answer this question for you but thought id give it a shot. The internal sidechain works like a gate fx.

Baby audio does have the free BA 1 FX app thats free, but after a quick check in the app store, it appears the FX app does not have the sidechain fx part.

BA-1 is a great synth imo.

Im curious, was there something specific you were trying to achieve? Or were you curious about testing that specific feature?

@Poppadocrock The desktop version can do the external sidechain either pre-fx or post-fx. Post-fx is easy enough to do outside of the plugin, but pre-fx would have been a convenient feature.

@Grandbear They could do it, but I don’t think they know how lol. The reason they published the FX rack as a separate free app is that they apparently couldn’t figure out a way to bundle it with the main app.

  • I wonder if there’s a way to finesse the internal sidechain speed of BA-1 in Drambo without having to change the project/global tempo. Is there any setup of modules that would basically give you separate control over the tempo of a track, such that (for example) you can double the speed of a track BA-1 is in to make it’s internal sidechain kick in twice as fast?
