Traverse is a lo-fi tape effect and delay plugin from Audio Damage, makers of premium audio software since 2002. Runs as an AUv3 plugin inside AUM, Cubasis, Drambo, GarageBand, or any AUv3 host on iPhone and iPad.

WHAT IT DOES
- Cassette tape character - Drive, Wow, Flutter, and a tilt-EQ Tone knob that goes from clean and warm to wobbly and worn
- Stereo tape delay, 20ms to 10 seconds, free or host-tempo synced
- POST DELAY routing button reorders the chain: tape emulator with a delay, or tape delay with a clean input
- Procedural splice-point emulator with four controls for tape dropouts and chirps
- Curated noise generator with hiss, crackle, dust, fan rumble, 60Hz and 50Hz hum, white, pink, and the Califone Card Reader
- Gated noise that drops the floor when input is silent - room tone speaks only when the track does
- Ping-pong width control, click-free bypass, fully-wet mix by default
WHY IT SOUNDS DIFFERENT
Most tape delay plugins keep saturation and delay as separate stages: input gets saturated, then echoed cleanly. Traverse re-processes every feedback repeat through the full cassette chain, so echoes degrade and bloom with each pass instead of just decaying in volume.

Is it now a legal requirement that all developers must release at least one lo-fi tape plugin? Seems that way.
I really like my Audio Damage apps, but man oh man, am I ever sick of these AI written descriptions.
I've been a fan of Audio Damage for a long time now. I've already got quite a few tape plugins, but will give this one a go. They tend to put a lot of unique personality into their stuff.
I feel you, didn’t notice it at first glance, but when I read more carefully, got that sinking feeling. To pluck out two examples:

It's cheap enough, but do I really need yet another lofi tape plugin? Reelbus' "Canadian Boards" preset has me covered when mimicking the "sound" of BoC, and that's really it.
I don't need such plugins beyond Reelbus and Taip to be honest.

Lol. Actually, that won't happen this time. Not to veer off-topic too much, but I've already invested quite a bit of money in songwriting books. 😂 Tomorrow I will get my BoC fix as well since "Inferno" releases tomorrow. I honestly don't need "yet another Lofi tape plugin".

Welp that sums it up for me, lol.
I feel you . Hell, for the past two months I’ve been putting ReelBus on every track (using the 30ips professional preset) and then again on my mastering chain (30ips master preset) and you’ve heard the results. I can’t see myself needing any other tape plugins .

Was going to wait til tomorrow to try this, but I was intrigued by the "Disintegration Loops" preset. So I ran the app through a bunch of examples.

The microphone input on my Scarlett is a bit glitchy so just adjusting the volume and thus touching the contact gives almost an explosion of corrupted sounds.

So, as someone who doesn't have any tape sim app, would you go for Traverse or Reelbus or Taip or...?
I'm looking for cool sound, BOC vibe, fun to use, and works on Mac if possible (but not necessary).
Reelbus has the "Canadian Boards" preset which gives a near perfect BOC vibe!

Had a prolong play with this, and can say it’s a real winner. For $3, you’d be mad not to pick it up. Using this with Celestine and just messing about with the feedback, drive, noise (love the card reader option), and tone can get you all sorts of soundscapes. I see BOC mentioned, and can whole heartedly say this can create those tones pretty easily. It’s better than what I was expecting.
