    to @_smund and @Gavinski's point...

I think a lot of these gizmos (my own included) are mostly reverbs / hybrid reverbs / delays with an optional freeze function.

In many ways, those gizmos are doing way too much processing (IMHO), if say what you're after is something like the classic EHX Freeze stompbox.

In case you don't know, the EHX Freeze just has an effect level knob and a 3-way toggle to switch between a slow / fast envelope or to put the footswitch into latch mode.

Under the hood, it's basically just a really short looper that's always recording (until you enter freeze mode), with some DSP to smooth over the loop start / end so it sounds like "infinite" sustain. I reckon it's probably something I could throw together and get it decent-sounding in a day or so (*) and sell for $0.99.

But as I type this, maybe the agentic coding vibrations are already being fired-up and they'll be able to beat me to it in 10 minutes...

Joking aside, it is something I've thought about doing as it's a pedal I used a lot on guitar when I was still using actual pedals. I'd use something like that for sure.

(*) most of that would be trying to think of a name... :D

    Suggested name: Freezebox?

But that’d be way too easy to pronounce and spell correctly for a Rob app.

freezes a guitar chord without sounding wide and echo’y?

Weeping Wall by Aqeel Aadam meets all of your requirements.

loop size can be adjusted from .10 ms to 60 seconds, can be tempo synced from 1/64 note to 1 bar.

1 loop, and up to 5 loops.

crossfade of loop, to prevent clicks.

    adjustable threshold trigger.

hold time from 1 second to infinite.

    dry/wet volume control.

    all controls midi assignable.

a great micro looper, and much more.

Fun fact: I once went round to David Cockerell's house 20-odd years ago - he was the main designer for Electro Harmonix digital pedals.

We mostly talked about loopers and he was very cool and an amazingly clever guy.

You lucky bugger ;-) I'd love to hear more about that.

David Cockerell designed/engineered some incredible effects for Electro Harmonix - the original 16 second delay, instant replay, etc.

He designed/engineered a lot of interesting instruments as well - EMS, akai S612, etc.
