I do feel that this might be a little bit too stuck on hardware paradigms. The swiping thing to select parameters is cool, but that has limits. Eg. I can’t jump directly to the semitone I want, I need to swipe through intermediate, unwanted values, which may sound undesirable in a performance. It seems obvious to me that this could be improved on in a very simple way, since this is a touchscreen app: also allow the user to tap on the semitone parameter value they want on the left or top of the screen, with their other finger. Would be very easy to implement and would open up possibilities for performance.
Also, gotta say lack of AUv3 on this is very frustrating, for me personally. Would love to be using this inside my AUM sesssions.
Seems a lot coming out lately isn’t AUv3 and standalone only.
In the case of this one, I think it's because the dev genuinely thinks of it as a standalone thing. He does seem open to making it AUv3, tho it's not confirmed, and obviously the more people request that, the better!
man this thing is pretty cool. but AUV3 keeps holding it back. if i could pipe this through some fx in aum. this would be killer
The purpose of putting a groovebox inside a daw as a plugin is to continue working on a sketch. IAA is also doable but auv3, especially with multichannel output, is the most satisfying way to mix, add elements, add effects and master.
Dev definitely does seem up for it, just hasn’t fully said “i will”, 100%. But stuff like multi-out is on his radar, fingers crossed.
For me, I'd probably never use it as an AUv3. It's perfect standalone as a phone app. I would like to be able to render out the four tracks separately however.
I would definitely use this as an AUv3 as part of larger AUM sessions, no doubt.
Interesting idea, the 2 finger. I am finding tap-slide to be pretty fun slipping around on the x/y axes, to get to the desired sound. I see your point about semitones, haven’t mastered it as is
This is such a great little tool. I've been tracker curious for a long time and have never pulled the trigger. The only thing I haven't quite grokked is the pattern/song structure.
It's great to have everything on one page and the gui on the phone works well. So much functionality on a single page.
As others have said, it would be great if this could be AUV3. For my use case being able to sample into naive tracker and being able to record the output of naive tracker in an auv3 host would really power up this little guy. I'd pay extra, or I could just buy nanoloop.
