So I really want to buy this but will I lose recordings made under the beta? Should I backup? Or will just installing the store version over the beta preserve the files in icloud? (instead of deleting the existing Fields/Recordings folder)
I did not lose my recordings when I downloaded the store app on top of the test flight version. My recordings were right there in the app and in iCloud.
Thanks for confirming, that’s what I expected (some other user mentioned it above in the thread but perhaps they deleted the beta app before installing the store one, and that would probably remove the files folder if it was the case)
Yep, just installed the store version and everything is there still! And this sure is replacing my goto field recording for sure. Love this app

If you had iCloud selected, you should be fine. If you were using local storage, there is a chance you may lose them. Backing them up with the Files app is easy, and it is always a good idea to regularly back up important data.

Some older devices were also having issues with the pre-roll buffer, which could cause a black screen or a crash at startup. This update should fix that as well.
When using local storage, deleting an app deletes its data; if you install the App Store version without deleting the beta, your data is preserved.

Is there a reason that .m4a files don't show up? <-- Question asked in total ignorance by someone who routinely saved them in this format when recording with Audioshare (which he is trying to replace with Fields).
I’m experimenting with some budget wireless lavs for ambient recordings. They are designed more for voice but sound ok for ambient too.
I already have the excellent Brusfri for noise reduction afterwards, but I also still have the Fields beta installed. I can’t tell yet which is actually better for noise reduction after the fact. So far it seems like Brusfri is still very good, but maybe fields noise reduction gives you a bit more refined control?
Has anyone else compared the noise reduction of each of these apps and decided on a clear winner? Like I said, I can’t tell for sure just yet. I don’t have a problem buying fields for this use if it’s significantly better, but if Brusfri is already just as good, I don’t really need to buy another recording app. Thoughts?
According to two LLMs, both apps are doing the exact same thing for noise reduction and that I don’t need Fields since I already have Brusfri, but in the Fields app it appears that Fields may have a bit more specific noise reduction control vs Brusfri of what you’re trying to filtering out.
Sorry but only WAV, AIFF, and FLAC are supported.

I've really enjoyed capturing field recordings and feeding them straight into Noises and Booga. I often find myself in AUM loaded with nothing but Audiothing apps. Good stuff!

@audiothing, while I have you here....
I wanted to confirm something that two different AI's suggested in regards to noises vs booga samples.
They indicated that for noises the samples should be 90 seconds in length and that the placement of the samples (sample slots) have an impact on the playback settings.
For Booga is stated that the samples should never exceed 3 seconds and any sample over 3 seconds will just use up ram and it's better to edit it down to the 3 seconds, instead of loading a 45 second drum sample.
Any accuracy in those statements?
Noises can load virtually any sample length. You can change the cross fade length but I would suggest something like at least 10 sec long samples and at least 3-5 cross fade time.
B00GA instead is limited to about 1 sec samples, anything over that will be discarded, so in theory it should not use more RAM. B00GA works best with very very short samples anyway, 1 sec is plenty.
