I listened several times and heard something new each time. I would have enjoyed seeing the look on the string section’s faces when they saw their parts. I would love to see the score for this. Is this all StaffPad?
Yes. StaffPad doesn’t balk at impossible to play parts… like fast 16th note pizzicato ensembles. But I am searching for interesting results which makes sense for sketches since the intent is finding something of value that can be recalled in a more planned effort. I tend to sketch and just avoid the “planned efforts” as one does when confronting a creative block.
I listened a few more times this morning and did some reading. It’s actually very doable. I don’t play violin, so everything is theoretical for me. The technique reminds me of the tricks that Tony Iovino did on guitar. He used a combination of left and right hand plucks, hammer-ons and pull-offs. Paganini did something similar. It’s a combination of bowing and plucking. To the listeners ears, the end result sounds like an insane flurry of pizz plucks, not meant to be played by mere mortals.
I like how your piece trades off between the musicians. Everybody in the ensemble gets a chance to shred in short bursts. A very cool effect. I can imagine the audience’s heads shifting left and right. I’m playing around with something similar using Riffler audio and matching MIDI output. The “Challenge Presets” provide hours of entertainment! It’s fun and I don’t ever expect it to be played live. I don’t play live anymore, so I don’t really care.
Hope you are having a good day!
Great work! Glad you’re keeping orchestra music alive on here.
