Oh man, I like this one...
I’m trying to recall the last time $5 brought such a big smile to my face. One of the best apps of the year! (Yes, I’m a resonator junkie so YMMV.)

Mini review:
Impulse-purchased last night and it's a lot of fun! Seems pretty flexible and it's easy to get something rhythmically + tonally interesting going. Great for generating sample fodder, I'd say.
I had better, more controllable/reuseable rhythmic results from sending it sparse audio (minimal percussion lines, simple chords) with shorter decay times and fewer voices. With dense, atonal or a-rhthymic signals, or upping the decay and voices, it would certainly be good for 'soundscaping'.
Potentially, it could start sounding a bit same-y if you don't vary what you feed it (true of all effects, of course), but it's fairly deep for something so easy to use, so should have good mileage with thoughtful use.
Certainly recommended at this intro price. TBH, I wouldn't regret buying it at the eventual higher price either, as the results are my type of thing.
I was hoping for a more capable app than Objeq and tessera delivers. My main use case is to “melodize” a percussion rhythm. Objeq plays a single pitch. It also seems insensitive to incoming volume. Tessera melodizes in a variety of ways and output is sensitive to input volume. It would be great if things like global pitch and decay could be modulated by incoming velocity/volume, but as is, this is a great little effect.
Good review, @evenSteven . I will add that the closest relatives on iOS are Kronecker and the other Icegear apps that prominently feature a resonator. Tessera focuses on just the effect section and lets you control the input source, s as you point out. That’s both a good thing (more flexible) and a challenge (you need to understand good inputs for resonators). But even with clean guitar I’m getting wonderful feedback type of tones.

For a fiver, this was an easy snag.
I always wonder though, when we spend hours designing our sounds in our synths, tweaking them to get them sounding just right.. then we run it through a new effect which completely changes everything. And then we're like 'yeah, I meant to do that' 🤣
Yeah man. It's my favorite effect of 2026 for sure. Awesome intro pricing. It took a pretty standard drum pattern and turned it into a digital world of violins and robot moans. So good.

This app is turning out to be a real winner! Getting all kinds of musical goodness out of it. Love how it isn’t just about finding the right app settings, but the input signal has such a key role to play in what sound it makes.
I just couldn’t skip on Tessera. The number of different resonators is astonishing. And it is so easy to work with the controls. At the moment I’m experimenting without “motion engines”. In plain words, I turned the sequencer to one note.🤦♂️ But those engines, when you utilize them to just change the character of the selected resonator algorithm, are opening up an entire new page for experimenting with resonance that I couldn’t find in any other FX. 🏆
This should be far more talked about than the overpriced neon prototype apps taking our attention. Love it.

I also LOVE this app.
One thing that continues to delight me about Tessera, compared with more traditional arp setups, is that the sound from the latter depends very much on what you send the MIDI to, and this can end up sounding repetitive very quickly.
But here, the sound Tessera makes depends a great deal on what you feed it, so by feeding in a more varied sound e.g. a percussive loop from Axon 3, which can be sending in a range of sounds, of varying amplitude envelopes, all of this variation is reflected in Tessera's output. The input sounds with shorter attacks produce resonant sounds with shorter attacks in Tessera, whereas other sounds can produce softer sounds in Tessera. All of this helps to create loops with a lot of organic variation and interest and I'm loving it.
Also, the SEQ module is a an amazing arpeggiator. By drawing different patterns on the grid, and playing with step count and window size, or modulating them, some completely new arp type sounds are coming out of it, like nothing else I own.
The build in chord generator is great, but even better is to feed in your own chords. One thing I'm doing is using MELA MIDI app as a pitch doubler, so I hit a key, and MELA creates a second MIDI mote an octave higher. Then feed this into Tessera, and you have to only hit 6 notes to make full use of the 12-note grid to create some amazing sequences.
This is an absolute gem of an app, and a steal at this price!
