Since the last update, I haven't been able to open some of my projects, and the app crashes when I load a song.
Overall, loading times are significantly longer than before.
Even after reinstalling Logic Pro, nothing has changed.
iPad Pro M1 12.9"
iPadOS 26.5
Is everything working as usual for you after the latest Logic update?
Even updating to iPadOS 26.5.2 didn’t make any difference.
Could I send someone a small project of mine (about 3 MB) for them to check? It appears on my screen for a very short time after loading and then causes Logic Pro v3.3 to crash.
Other projects – even very large ones – run without any problems.
It's very likely to be a plugin that is causing the issue IMO.
I've had several periods where Logic crashes when opening projects, although it's not happening to me at the moment. It's intermittent and probably gets resolved when the rogue plugins get updated.
After doing some research, I found out that you can request a RESET of LOGIC PRO in the settings.
Once I’d enabled the reset and launched Logic (it takes a bit longer to start up!), I was able to reopen the project that had previously been causing problems.
This might be a useful tip, if you weren’t already aware of it.
Thank you for your help
I wasn't aware, thank you... although it's been pretty stable for me lately anyway.
Great tip - thanks!
The tip does work, but after a while Logic crashes again when I open the problematic project. I can get round it for now, but this can’t be a permanent solution.
I’ve analysed the project. Apart from Animoog Z, only internal sounds and effects are being used.
Even after deleting the track containing Animoog Z, Logic still crashes.
Something doesn’t seem to be right following the latest update to v3.3.
I’ll send Apple a crash report.
@Iskander :No such problem here
@Iskander I've actually had a back-and-forth with Apple about this one as it affects about 75% of my projects. I went digging through the crash logs of several projects that won't open, traced the debug output, and tracked it down - so I know the cause: Logic tries to reapply saved automation state for AUv3 plugins during project-open, but it does it on the main thread, so if that automation state fails to reapply, the entire app crashes. I'm not sure it's even the AUv3 plugins' fault, as I've seen it with Sitala, Koala, House Bud, and lots of FX.
Apple know about it and I've sent them minimal sample projects to reproduce it. Whether they're going to do anything about it or not is another matter. I ended up leaving an absolutely scathing review on the App Store about it, I've got tracks that are 99% finished that I can no longer open, and more than one of those is commissioned work so calling it Logic "Pro" is just bullshit.
That's one of a handful of reasons I'll never work with Logic Pro. Oddly enough, the subscription doesn't turn me off from it. It's the bugs within and unreliability for client work.
After the state of Cubasis 3 at launch though I will never, ever, use anything Steinberg again.
Yeah this is the state of things isnt it, hence Dendy's endeavours. We don't have a reliable DAW at this moment. I use Logic Pro every week, and I go between desktop and ipad, but not being able to know for sure if in any future update Logic will just break something fundamental means I'm strategizing a completely bonkers approach once the future update of Loopy gets side chaining, of combining it with Xequence for midi because its midi isnt there yet and actually doing production and mixing in an environment really not intended for it, but at least knowing it works and that bugs get responded to
Since we're talking about bugs, is it a Logic Pro problem or an Audiokit problem where my instrument instances will have the patch I had reset to the default patch? It's very annoying.
Yup, I have had the exact same issue and a reminder I meant to contact @AnalogMatthew about the problem. I've sent them a mail now.
I wonder if this is a similar issue to the Audiokit problem above?
I also had a similar problem with Synthmaster 2 following an update on March. Their dev indicated it was some race condition between logic trying to set the parameters before the synth engine was ready.
I really get on with Logic and really want to love it but pretty much every single update since launch has caused me problems, sometimes showstoppers. Remember when they broke side chaining? Multi-out? That last issue left me with projects that wouldn't open unless I uninstalled the offending app (which took ages to track down) then I could as least recover as much as possible.
I make music for fun and have the occasional deadline since I make music with a retro gaming community, but my free time is at a premium which makes these problems more frustrating. I don't think I could use this setup professionally.
It's a real shame because for the most part, it's a fantastic DAW but Cubasis keeps giving me the eye, sat there on my home screen with it's one time lifetime purchase. If it had PDC and bus routing I'd jump back in an instant.
This problem seems to be so wisesprwd that I’m sure they’ll fix it in the next update
Just take regular manual backups whilst you work. It’s annoying but not the worst thing. I usually end up with about 15-20 per track.
That side chaining one was a doozie though!
I have never seen the lack of PDC as such a big problem. I had big project with not delay problems. Only FAC Punchlab was causing delay under certain settings. Maybe certain app you use need PDC ?
Thanks. Can you do me a favor and send to [email protected] directly. That goes for anyone. Feel free to email me with more details. I'd like to get this AudioKit/Logic issue fixed. Thanks!
