That's great! Really liking the quantizing feature - that will help to make the pad controlled drums a lot more practical for recording.
People have said that DrumJam is great for world beats but can't do rock/pop music. I actually don't think that's true...there are plenty of excellent acoustic drum kits, but they are almost exclusively on the pad section. The portion of DrumJam that generates the great drum tracks, unfortunately, is more limited to world beats. But with some of these new features, I could see it being more possible to create accurately timed drum loops using pads + quanitization.
Great app, and one I will be reinstalling and hoping to get to work with shortly.

Thanks @obiwahnkentobi for putting this video together! This version will be submitted to Apple today. Sadly, the most requested features (custom kits and samples) didn't make it in, this was really a bug fix version with a few useful featurelets thrown in.
After it goes live a bunch of new IAP kits/loops will also be posted as well...

Drumjam -- this may be my all-time second favorite iOS music app. Getting new features is fantastic, looking forward to hearing new kits and loops!
@StormJH1 -- agree; one can make rock and many other styles within Drumjam...it's not really limited as some may think.
My favourite drum app. Bought all the IAP's after 10 minutes playing with this app. Use it as a controller to play with other (drum) apps and you realize its not limited, but limitless.

I was checking out Drums XD...any thoughts on Drums XD paired with DrumJam?
I dont have drums xd, but i tried it with DM1 and Beatmaker 2 and recorded the midi into cubasis and it worked perfect. You can control every app that has good midi support. The note repeat funtion makes this app unique and you can make some real cool drum rolls with it. I also saw a video on the internet controlling MoDrum with DrumJam. I think you gonna like this app Mr Musikman

I just checked the app store for Drums Xd and it supports midi in and out, so i think its possible to control with DJ.

I only bought DrumJam a couple of weeks ago when I was feeling guilty that I had never used ThumbJam in a recording even though I've spent days doodling with it. DrumJam is just as inspiring and expressive as ThumbJam in case anyone is on the fence about it. I really must go and buy all the IAPs after I come back. They sound great too.

So let me get this straight, drumjam is something similar to the smart drums in Garage Band? I've been enjoying smart drums to come up with interesting drum tracks but can't get midi out of it just wav audio. Can drumjam basically do something similar?
DrumJam is like smart drums reinvented by Sun-ra. It has all the grid features of pattern change and volume but adds panning, muting, soloing and filtering. Then you have the live pads with crazy quantised repeats to allow you to play variations by scrubbing, tapping and sliding across the pads. There are a ton of really nicely recorded drum sounds including rock drums with loads more on very reasonably priced IAPs. The live pads can have live effects applied and bedlam which takes it beyond.. I believe all the patterns are played by a professional percussionist so they have great grooves. Also starts and stops and syncs with Gadget really well.
And I probably haven't talked about more than 50% of the things this can do.
Just for clarification when comparing to GB's smart drums, there isn't an equivalent to GB's simple->complex axis, each percussion element has about 20 variations, but they aren't arranged by complexity. Also - and this is an important thing often misunderstood about DrumJam's loop elements - they are audio recordings by Pete Lockett and not sequenced triggered samples, so don't expect to get any MIDI output from the loops section.
The interactive pads half of the app is where you can produce MIDI output, and where all the fun quantized drag repeat (and now tap) stuff is.
I really appreciate all of the work Pete put into the loops. The app is such an original approach being able to play loops and jam over the top with completely different drums.
Nice job how the loop section sounds and the way you can choose which instruments to use and play with.So much variation you can create.
I think a lite version would be awesome for this app. Something to try the features and help a prospective buyer het off the fence.
I've already accumulated so many drum apps but I realized that not being a drummer, any drum app that helps me make a drum track, either by loops or autogenerated stuff is one that will get me to try it. It is so nice to get a beat going and have the app randomize stuff and allow you to save those as new patterns etc...
I must say I'm looking forward to this update even more than I'm looking forward to the patterning app coming out.
DrumJam's performance area sending midi out just fits into my workflow with Gadget perfectly. Having it quantise with the clock (which I can send from DJ to Gadget) is going to really help. And hopefully midi off is now being sent correctly on notes. If so that will mean I can also mess around pointing it at Gadget synths too.

It's much more versatile than it first appears, to all those who are on the fence, great midi capability and the bedlam and fx features add a lot of depth.

@Musikman4Christ Not a drummer here neither guv., and I hear you as regards trying things out, but all I can say is in lieu of putting your mitts on the thing directly take the absurdly positive temperature of the thousand times it's been mentioned here. It may or may not fit what you want to do in the world, but because of its design and iconoclastic yet simple approach it often feels that there are iOS drum machines and then there's Drumjam.
