Greatful help, @Samu!
Instabuy now on your efforts!
It's quite funny as many of the bugs/issues I reported way back are still in there, they are not show-stoppers but would add to the over-all polish of the app. I'm just wondering how many of the glitches I've missed as there were quite a few when the public-beta started
The developers are cool dudes so if you find some issues and annoyances that bug you don't hesitate to let them know. The method that worked best for me was to give a 'suggestion' on the 'issue' and how it could be remedied, but as always there are more ways than one to solve the problem...
Comprehensible, Samu ... suggested midi in/out, like you, as I thought you had everything else covered, and it would be implemented.
Also curious how much 'excited' Doug @thesoundtestroom will be ...
Thank you Samu, do you have any idea of when those old bugs you reported will be addressed?
I'm really diggin' this. Is there an easy way to record a single pattern on the tape deck or is it all manual punching? Also, will there be MIDI Sync?
I've literally only dipped into this for about 10-15 minutes so far, but I was really liking what I was seeing! Acoustic kits sounded great, and the detail that went into the U.I. (even on a small iPhone screen) is impressive. Baffling to me how they went through beta testing using AUDIOBUS forum members, and then launched an app without AudioBus (or IAA). But there actually is a pretty functional "bounce loop" option that works with ACP. The multi-velocity pads are pretty neat too, especially for variation on snare hits. So far, so good...
I'm pretty sure they will be fixed in all due time as an update has already been submitted. It fixes stereo recording when external device is connected. I'm sure some other fixes sneak in too (like no need for dedicated iCloud export options now that there is iClous-Drive/FilePicker support).
@CalCutta It's manual punch-in for now but I did request to have a 'sync' when recording is armed meaning recording stars when starting pattern-playback if recording was armed.
WIST-Sync is in place and I'm pretty sure AudioBus/IAA will come at some point too.
I do not yet know what is on their todo-list and at what priority but rest assured they have plenty of requests to keep them busy for quite some time
I did ask them to send promo-codes to all three at The SoundTestRoom and got mine too for the efforts, who knows, maybe there will be a competition there once the review is done
cool thanks again.
This thing is actually pretty deceptively powerful - it's almost like a mini-BeatHawk with about 1/10 of the memory footprint. Has a -12 to +12 range keyboard for pitched samples, and you can import them easily using ACP from AudioShare. So, for example, I imported a Sub Bass from Sunrizer as note "C2", and then a single pad handles the bassline. The note editor is a bit clunky (two finger dragging to move around, easy to enter wrong notes) and I wish "undo" was a little more accessible, but it does work.
Drum sample library is pretty robust - includes almost all the Roland stuff (606, 626, 707, 727, 808, 909, etc.) plus some generic acoustic and drum machine samples.
For $5, this is pretty great little app. Needs some features/improvement, but I like what I've seen so far!
@StormJH1 Rest assured the app will improve over time (just got reply from the dev regarding the next update), they are very responsive to constructive ideas so it doesn't hurt to get in touch with them.
The 'tape-recorder' with clips is my favourite for sampling stuff and dragging the clips to the pads and well can't help but to smile when 'scratching' the tape
For those who already play with FingerBeat, to make pads play chords it's pretty neat (BeatHawk only allows to set root note of the pad hah).
Import/Record a 'sample' to a pad, go to pad settings and press 'Add Slice to Pad' for as many chords as needed.
Now press one of the slices, press the keyboard icon, hold down the desired notes, repeat for all the slices, voila, instant chord pads
Same can be used to play bass-lines by pre-setting the the slice pitches and at the same time be able to trigger the other samples too.
If anyone is looking for 'pad-velocity' it's set in the pad settings. 'Pad Volume' is the middle of the pad, Min Velocity is at the edge of the pad and will be interpolated when moving closer to the center, works for slices too not to forget each slice has a separate piano-roll too and the 'chords' mention in previous post are recorded as notes...
The app is fairly polished but will most likely only get better over time.
For me FingerBeat is like when i first got my Korg Electribe ES-1. It makes sampling fun again
