I wouldn't count on it for midi. Novation Launch Control makes it crash. I've also tried with midiLFOs and it crashes. StepPolyArp creates fun and unpredictable behavior on the red channel, and if you unmute the other channels, it will most likely crash.
You can play notes with a keyboard controller. On all/any midi channel. But I couldn't record.
Curiously it plays 17! Notes...on 16 pads...what I mean is the 16 notes correspond to the 16 steps (4x4) and the 17th key note was a snare...I didn't have time to figure out why a snare sound. And it didn't match any of the 16 patches. Odd.
"Let the bug flow"
Mmmm.......
My keyboard worked fine too until I tried adjusting knobs and sliders. Then it eventually freeze and crash.
Plugged in an Ableton Push to the iPad when I playing around with Frum. Got two similar rows of sixteen buttons working on it without configurating anything.
when you say two similar rows what does that mean? where they playable chromatically from push etc..?
Yes, it's kind of weird sentence, like "let the virus spread" or some like that. Infectious groove!!

Was the price not always $2.99? This http://appsliced.co/app?n=frum shows no prior history.
Ok, figured out the discrepancy.
The OP link is to the CA app store.
This https://appsto.re/us/MFkWeb.i is to the US app store.
The two currencies use the same symbol, so it wasn't immediately obvious what was going on.
I gave up on page 7. Many (most) apps collect anonymized data and store it on their servers or some third party server. People are obviously very touchy about this so I'm not gonna name names but several apps in the forum's collective top 10 do it. It's not accessing your photos or your contacts! It's letting the developer know how many people still haven't upgraded from iOS8 and other extremely mundane info that doesn't say anything about capital y You but lets the developer know a lot about their lower-case u userbase.
Collecting the device's UUID is a no-no though. I wonder if that's just erroneous copy and pasting of english legalese.
Unless you always browse the internet via VPN or something like Tor, you give considerably more away on every single page you visit.
Much like this forum. Or gmail. Or google.com. Or facebook. Or wikipedia. Or... (everywebthingever).

haha! yes indeed I'm Canadian! btw, either way how this thing goes in November, y'all are welcome up here north of the border. ok, as you were!
I will print your message and present it to the Mounties when I cross the border.
Additional instructions can be found in Clutch's 'The Mob Goes Wild'. good luck
Love me some Clutch, dude. I saw 'em in Austin, TX back in the day. Fantastic and memorable show.
The guts of the app aren't on your iPad, they're hosted on a server which communicates to and from your device. So they can change stuff without an update to the skin on your iPad.
I don't have them installed as apps though, and as far as I'm aware websites such as Facebook, have access to less data than an installed app on my iPad connected to the web. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm sure there's nothing to worry about. But finding out an app I've just installed could be harvesting any of my data for any purpose, without telling me or giving me the choice to opt out before installation, is not something I can put my trust in, and not something I want on my device.
I don't want to poke a hole in anyone's tin foil hat, but if the developer does indeed have ill intentions, wouldn't he give the app away? Also, wouldn't s/he target a much bigger market segment?
Tin foil or not. I will not encourage external apps. Too many problems. Some possible benefits in concept, but in the real world the problems outweigh the benefits at this time (imo).
I just find it hard to believe that someone would develop a quality music making app and charge for it with the intentions of harvesting your personal data. That's a hell of a con.
Instead of poo-pooing a new app with speculations, direct your anger/paranoia/frustration towards Apple for "allegedly" allowing such access.
I don't personally believe it's a con at all. I do believe that the concept is highly flawed and sets a bad precedent.
The app was developed by the devs and as such they are responsible. The online part is an integral part of the app, so it's perfectly reasonable to state objections to the app.
I can wish the devs luck in life, but I don't wish them luck with this app as it is.
But you have proof of nothing, only allegations. Demonstrate the "flaw" being exploited and I will eat my words.
if only everyone was as upset about the Playground app not having sample import... sigh
sorry about the wait. work and stuff.
the first two rows of buttons triggered notes then then the next two above those did nothing. the following two triggered the same notes as the first but same as before, the next two rows did nothing.
didnt have time to investigate if any of the buttons did any double duty as two different notes, but none of the encoders worked. was plugged in via cck through a usb hub.
@telecharge: while you have a point, a good counter point is that a con man on the internet would agree that would probably be a hell of a con. so far everyone is correct in their reasonings for and against Frum it seems.
Indeed, indeed but... Mmmm... does it have panning ?

I think you're getting myself mistaken with other people's comments. I have made no allegations. I have stated no flaw being 'exploited'.
I simply do not think the online nature of the app is a good idea at this time. I will not encourage it incase it encourages similar apps.
I would say, on the ideal of data collection, if you want to do it, you had better make it very transparent so that a person has choice before purchase. It's a legal mind field and if you as a dev want to go there, it's your responsibility to get it right. If you don't, the flack you receive should be expected.
I am lol. There is one of the best iOS apps just waiting to be created there. Playground with full control is what touch screen music making should be about
Yes I do believe the concept is flawed and sets a bad precedent. How is that stating any exploitation?
thank god. I am not alone.
