Are the sounds in the Stem Kit completely dry or do they still have some sort of processing?
They're super dry and awesome!! Ready for all the toppings!!!
@DerekBuddemeyer
Hi, Derek. I've tried exporting stems as "audio" from the "timeline" as "multitrack" files to "open in" Auria Pro with user created patterns and the stock patterns and can confirm the "low crash edge" cymbal (as it's named in the piano roll screen) definitely does not export.
I'm on an iPad Air 2, iOS 10.2, latest versions of Auria Pro and DrumSession.
Not sure what happened there...but it is on the fix it list
Tap a loop on the timeline...it will highlight it in the selection area. Then you can drag it to the timeline
Have to add (again) that this feature is a huge step forward for me....
TL;DR Can't find an iPhone version yet. Does it exist?
not yet, soon
Cool! I had an existing loop when I first tried it and could not get it to go . I started a new one and it works great! Will be handy indeed. Would it be possible ro copy everything in the selected loop region to copy and paste?
I have been able to export full stereo drums with the "Open In", IAA and AudioBus on both Cubasis and Auria no problem.
As I stated above I had more trouble with the multitrack export. I thought Drum Session would do "realtime recording" export of full parts like Drum Perfect, but I have only seen a "Drum Session" and one " Drum Session (Instr)" IAA choice, not several for every part of the kit.
I described how setting up the export menu and pressing GO sends DrumSession to the help menu so I figure you just set it up how you want it (multitrack, IAA) and back out? Right?
I was able to export a multitrack groove using the multitrack export selection with "Open In" to Auria Pro. I saw Auria had decompressed files, etc like it does when importing other files so I selected "Import File" and sure enough the kick, snare, hat, etc .WAV's to the groove were there ready to import to an open track.
Is this the only way to export multitrack (stems) using Drum Session? It's fine, it works great so if it is cool, but I thought real time recording would be possible using the IAA inserts? Just want to be sure I'm getting this, which is why I'm trying to give as much info as possible, sorry if it's too much minutea.
Thanks...
Thanks for the detailed testing, sir.
Question: Do you see a "crash" cymbal of any kind in the import file menu in Auria Pro? I've tried importing stems from a variety of kits, grooves, my own patterns, etc., and I haven't seen any crash cymbals in the stems after importing to Auria Pro. I'd like to know if any other users have seen this. Thanks, @JRSIV.
@supanorton I'll try to do the "Open In" export with a Crash in the groove to Auria to test it.
I can't get any realtime export for multitrack at all, like DrumPerfect, unless it's not supposed to anyway. I know Derek is up to his ears in work on this app plus life & anything else he's doing so I know it'll take a bit to iron everything out.
The potential is there and as of right now it's still an incredible app. Sample import & user custom kits are a huge deal for me, Derek knows from me and others, and I'd wager real dough that sometime in the next year we'll have it. So I'm trying to be patient.
I have experimented and see that for a stereo export in Open In or IAA, AudioBus that ANY kit works, not just the stem export kit. So I assume only the stem kit can be used in the multitrack exports? Again something not made real clear. The in app manual is good but still in progress for questions like that.
Still working on more features. We will look i to live recording stem export...but as of now...it is just a prerendered export of your track. The stem kit is dry and has everything panned straight up the middle for you to mess with. All other kits can be used in stem export as well but are pre-panned and with all effects present. There is a bug where the high and low crashes are missing ..we are fixing that. Still working in IAP packs and looking at sample import, etc. iPhone version and facelift coming soon...LINK is still in the process. We are trying that's to get everything in order...all in good time
Ma man!!!
Out-fucking-standing Mr. Buddemeyer!
I said in my posts that I was just unsure about the full export functions and now I've got it. And honestly live export via IAA/AB to different tracks & the "Open In" rendered track export is totally six of one, ½ dozen of the other. Either way gets what you need. I was just unsure if I was missing something.
All the issues & requests this board brings up get considered & usually completed. No BS, Buddy is seriously on top of things & cares about oyr inout.
The refinements he did to the piano roll are so smooth & effective it's made it a joy to program groove with Drum Session.
Thanks for getting back to my questions so quick brother, ve cool...
Am very frustrated that I haven't had the time to get my fingers back on this, but excellent follow up and work Mister B.
Thanks everybody! We try lol
Yes you do, and that is in between all that damn shoveling you are doin cuz of motha nature dumping on you.
Still have not used that gift card from my birthday.
Just waiting for something to use it on.
Man, it would nice to have all your kits available in patterning and then have them linked together! I think I am having a musical wet dream here.
Why not just set it up so that Patterning is the MIDI Input for Drum Session?
Oooh - just tried it out and it's great. The notes start from C2. I at first started up in the C4 range and was getting double-hits 'n stuff. Don't forget to pull down the faders for the internal samples, or to use the "Silent" kit I posted in another thread about using Patterning with Ruismaker. I'll dig out the reference for you if you're interested.
Sure am interested in getting this working indeed. Thanks.
Wow! I only changed the first note in patterning to c2 and it sounds pretty sweet already!
Oh wow! This sounds great!
If you load the kit I posted here: https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/comment/236789/#Comment_236789, you won't have the memory and processing overhead of triggering samples and FX, and you won't have to bother pulling down the faders.
(Hint: Get your kit and MIDI settings all set up the way you like, then clear all patterns and save the song to use as a template. I call mine template-ruismaker, template-drumsession, etc. Then when I want a certain setup I just load the template song and immediately save it with a different name, before adding any notes. Saves a lot of time.)
Great I'll give yours a try. I just did some quick midi assignments and it is pretty good . I saved it as drum session midi. Now I'm going to try the one you did. I think my toms are not quite correct. It really works great though. So can I record these patterns into drum session somehow to save for future use in there?
Quick midi nerd tutorial would rock
I think I just have to go to drum session keys to get this perfect but getting tired now.
Love to see how everyone is using Drum Session with other apps...awesome. Will try to get some IAP packs together soon. Really pushing hard to get iPhone version out so that we can be in your pocket at all times!
