Great find! I've been using the BBC stream URLs here straight into AUM (tap the tuning area to change preset):

    suppertime.co.uk/blogmywiki/2015/04/updated-list-of-bbc-network-radio-urls/

Handy for sampling some random stuff without fuss.

  • This is just perfect, thanks for the tip!

Rediscovered this one a couple weeks ago. Found a miner bug, and @humbletune had it updated and fixed in less than 24hrs. I also asked if AU was a possibility, and would pay for that. Might be cool too have a few streams on various channels in AUM all at once. :)

  • I love to 'sample radio' so Ström is just perfect to load onto a pad in BM3 and use it as a 'soruce' for making a load of samples. Makes beta-testing so much more fun :D

Yep, that could definitely work ... I've been having much fun just routing this into ReSlice for random sampling and chopping.

I like taking 'found' sound sources and mangling them into something completely different. I find the random sampling accidents tend to be way better than something I try to manufacture.

+1. Wanted to play with heavily processed feeds like the ambient one (can't recall the name). AU might not be that important since you could just record several different feeds then mix between them I suppose. But, the app an interface are so simple, and he's already got the chops to take an app to AU (as evidenced by his work with Frekvens). Might be cool.

  • Loading this as a generator on a channel in AUM and have pasted several links from the BBC page linked by @TheVimFuego but cannot get a sound out of it...? Any additional steps I'm missing here?

    Are you online?

I don't have an iOS device handy... but in a previous build of Ström, I could only get sound in AUM if I opened Ström first, THEN added to AUM. I thought he'd fixed that in the last update, but I haven't confirmed. Try launching Ström first, then load into AUM and see if that works. I haven't tried any of the BBC links VimF cited yet.

  • This forum never ceases to amaze me! Such a great little gem and works perfectly in AUM!!!

Something tells me, enjoy it while you can / pay close attention to updates / dont update too quickly.

    Bing, bing, bing.

Had Ström for ages (I like Mister Sigth), but never did nothing with it etc. Now, Welsh language radio for mashing all the time :)

That did it...British politics running comfortably through Moebius now. Thanks, Skip!

  • A little crushed that this "esoteric" trick is now going to show up in everybody's SOTMC tracks, but there it is. Any advice on on where to get accurate URLs for other Internet streams? Would love to sample a Basque football broadcast....

  • Not gonna help with Basque football but this maybe of interest to some

    http://www.internetradiouk.com/mobile/

  • I got this just so I put Ström next to Strom on my iPad home screen.

I think the point though isn't it, there are SO MANY odd little streams with so much content. Like words in the alphabet; still need choosing...

  • This in no way helps the cause, as I don't see a way to patch this into Ström, but it's too damn good to pass up in regards to this topic. But fair warning ... with no visible way to sample from here (easily) you might find this site to be more torture than enjoyment. There are some absolute gold mines of obscure and outright incredible audio locked away in here! For example: set it to "weird" in the upper left tabs, then travel far back in time to an exotic land of your choosing.

Fantastic! There must be a hack to record this stuff.

But apart from that, I can't find on any radio station the "real" url to post into Strom. Anybody?

Stop being so damned reasonable. But I maintain that we will see a statistically improbable number of songs with Swedish newscasters in next month's tracks....

Wait, me too! (That was an early working title, actually. It's now called "Lar Von Triers (of a Clown).")

PS, Yes, I'm aware he's Danish. But hasn't Sweden had enough misery lately? :)

  • This is a pretty awesome find. Thanks! This is one of the features of the Op-1 that I really liked. Love random sampling :D

  • Now we need an app that recreates the experience of scanning MW and SW on a transistor radio.

  • @supadom said:

Yes! I did that, but bought a small SW radio, ran it into AS via ipthe radios headphone jack and manually scanned. But it seems this would be totally doable in an app. There are live SW feeds out ther and I faces that also let you dial/scan manually through the browser. Seems it could easily be done in a web app or possibly a modified version of Ström.

  • I kept quiet about this out of superstition. Last time I mentioned the web browser in Audioshare and it was removed, forcibly, in the next couple days.

I like how the Welsh use 'Look' in the way the Spanish do "Mira' almost...
